Very good video. There is some youtube debate if this version is genuine and from Tianjin. Some versions have different chinese lettering and different packaging (a tin and not a box). I agree with you poljot is a reputable supplier and long island watch also offer this same version as you have. My guess is this is a latest and improved version with a better display back (the other version “made in Tianjin” has red lettering on the back display glass) and the options of larger 42mm dials and sapphire dials. However, its a mystery which is fake or maybe both versions are legitimate, just different generations. If you find out, ket me know.
On the Chinese market I can just find "1" that is real. Thats the one directly from the Tianjin factory and they only sell them without see-through back, no sapphire option and no signed crown , there is alot of different signed crowns out aswell.. There is alot of quality fakes of this watch floating around. If you are in doubt you have the option to get it checked by Seagull 海鸥 in HK. This version of the watch is not made in Tianjin, although it does use the correct seagull st19 movement which can be freely purchased wholesale. If you value the provenance of the Tianjin factory making the watch then you are better not buying this version. I personally wouldn't buy this version, I do care about the provenance, and this movement has 21 jewels even though the dial says 19. They went with that for nostalgic reasons as the original release in 1963 was 19 jewel, but I think it's cheesy to misrepresent the movement in the watch for the sake of looks. This watch is a hommage and not the original watch, better to embrace that.

They have the one with SS back case and the one with sapphire glass which some people said no original. Anyway, take a look at the 38mm baby panda version. This one has the air force logo instead of the Red Star. Less than 300 USD. This is much cooler than the 3 eyes mickey mouse.

It came with a Seagull box with Seagull booklet and a stamped warranty attached with the booklet. It came in a nato strap plus an extra one in the box. I bought a leather strap there which has a Seagull buckle to replace the nato. I also bought the M199s there. It has the same Seagull booklet attached. The Red Star baby panda that i have uses the same Seagull movement, but, i can see that not only the dial and wordings are different, but the hands, including the sub-dials ones are different. And, it came with a Red Star box without any Seagull booklet or warranty. Cheers!

Yes there is actually. The unboxed item in this video is actually a replica. Authentic Seagull 1963s are pretty hard to find and comes with ONLY domed acrylic crystal and solid case back. They cost way more than these around $650+. However, the movement inside is an authentic Sea-Gull ST1091 and this movement have no replicas or fakes as well as alternatives. The movement and the case that is used in the replicas usually have QC (Quality control) issues and might not last as long as the original. I hope i could help you!
In a watch movement, jewels are placed on points where there is most tension on the gears. Jewels are much more rigid than steel and thus an amount of jewels is a reflection of the quality of the movement. The more jewels -> the better the movement will keep performing over the years.
Heads up, the Seagull in this review is fake. There is only one version of the 1963 re-issue. It was made as a limited edition, each watch engraved with number on the back. Unfortunately the western internet world is scammed.

It's not really relevant as they are using the real mechanism. I couldn't care less about the place it is manufactured in, it's the quality and the materials that matter.

Wow, they have a long way to go. At the rate they are making them, this watch in the US should be $9.99. I hope Wal-Mart orders a bunch. People, do not fall for this crap.
