Love these boots. Very English. They look like they have a very similar last shape to my Jeffery West Tombstone shoes, which I love and they feel great to wear.
I really dislike the squared off toe. I returned my pair
The toe is also my main hurdle with this boot, aesthetically.
Great content! Just have to say that, traditionally, brogue boots are more casual than cap toe and even plain toe boots
While I do agree with you that historically brogueing is casual, but I have grown up with most men wearing suits with brogue shoes. Either way I don't like brogue footwear, but do enjoy boot content as well.
Funny about wearing wingtips casually. I have a pair of Crockett and Jones Islays that i wear almost every day with jeans. I KNOW it doesn’t look right…but i love those fucking boots so much that I don’t care. 😂 they’re nowhere near as comfortable as my 405s but there’s something about them.
I wear my 405s anytime i know I’m gonna be out for a long time. They fit so perfectly.
Nothing wrong with wearing Islays with denim! Especially dark denim. They are country boots
I love these boots!
If I'm correct, the slanting shape of the toe are called chisel toe. Brogue and wing tip boots and shoes are more on the casual side compared to plain or cap toe. Balmoral are the most dressy boots.
Thursday is having a sale right now. So got these for $169 instead of $235. I got the Dune wingtip!
I own them and love them. Also got something similar from Carmina.
i really like the Dark Oak colour...not my style but the colour is sweet especially how the light hits off of it.
That’s a good looking boot. This is a good dress offering for the price point. Wow those Trickers are 🔥.
wingtips are actually much much more casual than plain-toes. they were originally workwear for working in marshes. as with all menswear, as formality increases, things have finer texture/detailing. like how tuxes dont have cuffs, opera pumps are patent leather, etc. the chunky, textured design of wingtips are just about as far as you can get from formality when it comes to leather shoes.
These would be dressier than a service boot while more casual than a plain-toe oxford or cap-toe boot. Formality tier is informed by more than just the pattern but also the last shape, welt, sole, finishing, color, leather, laces, etc.
I believe wingtips and boots with more brogue are considered more casual than other dress shoes, so perfect for jeans. I believe traditionally and historically wingtips are much less dresser and supposed to be worn as casual.
Is it best to keep the boots stored in their box or to keep them out to avoid the potential for mold? I know having Cedar shoe trees can help absorb moisture, but what do you recommend?
Thanks for the review! I find myself coming back to these over and over again, but have never pulled the trigger. They're eye-catchers! Thursday does a good job on this makeup for the price but ultimately it's not for me mainly because the toe shape is too extreme. I know they're going for a higher-end look but it looks more similar to a DSW shoe than a C&J. Part of it may be the mixed media and marbling too, I actually think some of the other more conservative versions of this boot look better like the tan. The crepe sole suede ones are super interesting as well!
I'll be sticking with my Tricker's for now (which are decidedly more casual), but every time a review or ad for these comes up I may be liable to snatch them.
seriously handsome boot... so many boots, such little time... great vid, great close ups of the detailing
The wrinkled leather is so ugly. Why wouldnt they do smooth leather throughout?
I own the Dark Oak and Color #77. Love them!!! Look amazing with a slim/fitted pair of jeans distressed or not. Look good with simple outfit. Clean all white button down, denim shirt, trucker jacket, fedora, or hooliganism flag cap. Also look good with long sleeve henley shirts. Again boots look good and should be the star of your outfit. I wore my Dark Oaks out to dinner Saturday. Wore a pair of medium dark slim fit jeans, plaid long sleeve shirt, black cardigan, and some Gucci aviator shades. British Tans will be bought here soon.
You have amazing taste my friend!!!
Too bad the wing tips aren't made in the U.S
i really really wanna see these boots after 5 ish years of use ❤ cause thats the look that matters 😊
Those Caramel suedes are freaking gorgeous!!!!!
they look absolutely horrible. Those are Thursdays worst of the worst.
Why?
Should I get half a size smaller in this boot?
Yes!
