For real . It’s early and everyone here is a sleep . As I seen you were about to turn the saw on I started to drop my volume but heard the music come on just before .... I was like “ ok awesome dude thanks .”
This may be the best tutorial vid I've ever watched. Short, to the point, no obnoxious music and chock full of simple and great ideas. Less is more. Thanks for posting.
For me this is the best router sled video I've seen, and I've seen a lot. I keep seeing "10-minute router sled" and "Simple sled build" everywhere, and then watch someone assemble it on fast forward (i.e. they spent hours) out of 20 different types of nuts, bolts, wood, metal, plastic etc. This one _is_ the simplest I've seen, and the one that makes the most sense to me. Plus the music editing was excellent! Great job.
This is by far the simplest setup I have seen for a home shop. I just watched one using linear rails that moves so fluidly but I think too expensive for a home shop. Your setup is something most can afford. Great job!
I hate how-to videos with no talking in them. This guy knows how to make a how-to video that needs no talking. Very entertaining, and still does the job intended. When he grabbed the saw and there was just a short violin sound, I wasn't paying much attention, but that out of place sound that fit so perfectly snapped my attention right to the video, where it stayed to the end. Superb editing, and creativeness with. Easily earned my sub.
Great idea! I had some angle iron from an old rollaway bed and cut it up for the rails. I discovered that the radius of the inside bend makes my router rock, so I'll modify the router base with a couple strips of wood similar to what you have done to deal with the unevenness. This idea has a lot portability and easy to modify for a variety of sizes. Thank you for posting!
Great use of special effect sounds and nat sound! Best of all, showed exactly what to do, concise and to the point. That's how the cookie should crumble!
A great video...I know next to nothing about woodworking, but after watching this I know I could "flatten" a board. Just an excellent video in so many ways....creative, educational and entertaining. There's not a single word spoken but the video conveys the technique so well even I could do this...and that's the sign of a true master...well done.
Very enjoyable sound-effects and great, simple sled. The white walls are a great idea too because light spreads everywhere instead of being absorbed by the usual plain wood color of many workshops. Things are easier to locate against the white when you want to grab one out of a thousand objects...more cheerful too. No words spoken...that's really nice but you displayed close-ups to show problems and solutions perfectly. You've raised the bar extremely high for all other videographers.
Sound effects are great, and the glue gun trick for clamping to the work bench is new to me. I've got a strangely shaped tree-chunk that wants to be a table when it grows up, so this will be most useful. Thanks!
Nicely done. As a video editor and weekend handyman, I appreciated both the ease of your build as well as the smoothness of your edits. And you didn't "over-talk" it like most. Simple, elegant solution.
I’ve been looking at a lot of router sleds ... this is the best, Keep It Simple, but also, strong (no sag with that angle iron) and the little fixes along the way are perfect. And, great tool-tunes! Excellent vid. And sled.
I made a similar with angle iron six years ago,it works! If you put a bolt or dowell down through your end blocks that hold your angle iron at the ends, you can use both hands on the router. Just a thought.Good job! I put leveling screws with foot pads on the ends of mine- that works well if yout table is flat.
I'm so thankful I found your video. I bought twin bed frames from Habitat for Humanity ($10.00) months ago. After watching your video I cut off the end brackets, I made my sled and now I'm ready to start flattening some cookies and slabs. Again, thanks!
Genius! Looked at a bunch of sled designs, yours is the best and simplest. I have a slab of Ash that I want to turn into a bartop. This should do the job.
What an awesome, simple, innovative video and tool! Wow! Talk about thinking outside the box! This is EXACTLY what I want to build. A few weeks ago, I found an old angle iron bedframe so I have the angle iron already. Never thought about running the sled length wise. Always thought about width wise. Thank You So Very Much For Sharing This! By the way, I Too enjoyed your audio editing! I wish I could give you 100 "Likes" for your creative video and tool design! No, wait, make that 500 "Likes" ! ! ! ! !
Absolutely dead simple and highly effective. I'll be headed to the home store to pick up some angle iron later. Only thing I think I'll do different is put a stop on the bottom of either side of the sled to keep it from slipping off the rails. I have some angle iron cut-offs I can use. If I can figure out how to attach it, I may use UHMW as sliders on the sides of my router base. I love the sound effects and the music.
I agree with MrBonners on using a sacrificial base plate. Make the plate slightly larger than the router then radius the edges and you could do away with gluing the spacers onto your router. With that said, great video and a wonderful concept.
I'm gonna go ahead and say what everyone else is saying. Kudos on the editing with the music. I can't tell you how many times I've had to hit the volume button in preperation for a tool being used. Not once during this video! Any way. Great job. Gonna hit that like and sub button!
superb, love this. You're never too old to learn. As is said ... `Every day is a school day`... And hey, love your music choices. The only down side I see is that you are going to `muller` your router base, unless you consider it sacrificial. Otherwise, brilliant vid. Thank you so very much
Loving the sound effects. I'm glad someone figured out how to let those sounds play out outside of the head. :-)I made something almost exactly like this about six months ago. The thing is that I welded it together and included an edge guide on one side so it wouldn't move around on me. But I like the wooden stop block at the end.
Nice, I used 1/8 inch steel angles on my fattening sled. Good idea. Straight and sturdy. Cut mine on a jawhorse. great tool. looks like you have 3/4 MDF over 3/4 plywood for your reference. Should prevent any deflections.Thanks.
I wish MY tools were musical, how did you get so special? LOL Seriously though I appreciated the extra effort in making this video to replace the tool noise, great idea!
You got the coolest sounding tools. Mine are all just really loud
For real . It’s early and everyone here is a sleep . As I seen you were about to turn the saw on I started to drop my volume but heard the music come on just before .... I was like “ ok awesome dude thanks .”
If only…
Love the music editing for the mechanical noises. The violin sounds for the hacksaw brilliant!!!

Excellent editing, showing me exactly what I needed to see, not a single word said. Amazing work, thank you!
When you turned the miter saw on and the music started playing instead of the ear piercing noise, I immediately subscribed. Well done!
Thank you very much Todd! Some people might enjoy the screaming tool noises. Not me.
I agree hahahahaha
Best 4min, 45 seconds I've spent in a long time. Thank you for sharing. Mike
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it!
With all the complicated sled designs out there, I used the angle iron and made mine in just a few minutes. Brilliant idea.
Thanks for the tip.
Thanks

This just became my fav wood working channel on UA-cam
Thank you very much! This means a lot! There are so many great channels out there!
Great! I've been searching for the most inexpensive way to make a router sled and this has definitely have to be it. I'm making one!

Thanks a lot! 😊
I have watched several videos on router sleds, this is by far the simplest! I am going to build one soon, thanks.
JUST made one for my router! Made it out of aluminum and a lot smaller. It works PERFECTLY. Thank you for the idea!!!

The sled is cool, but dam this editing!!! The sounds and mix of music on/off, that's very creative and a real inspiration! Thanks Seb!
Thanks Red! I try to compensate for the boring project with the editing. 🙂
@@Ollaris not boring. And it was just brilliant!!
@Pat Mahon Hahaha!! True
Subbed for the creative music inserts too.
Playing the music instead of the sound of the machine tools is genius. I particularly like way the bowing of strings replaces the action of a saw!
Very enjoyable sound-effects and great, simple sled. The white walls are a great idea too because light spreads everywhere instead of being absorbed by the usual plain wood color of many workshops. By far the simplest yet effective sled ive seen made! Awsome work!
Thanks a lot Douglas!

Simple jigs are the best. This will work great for me. Thanks for no saw noise.

Great video. I love the musical interpretations of the usual sounds we would here in a typical shop. Well done.
Nice to see an actual demonstration instead of endless yammering. Not a word was spoken and yet I actually learned something.
Thanks for the jig that fits the tight budget and the size makes it great for a small shop
Thanks Pat!
The sled is a good idea well made, and your musical editings are even better. Very fine.
Thank you very much Dieter!
My ears and I sincerely thank you for not having to listen to a router in order to learn how to make a router sled!
Very cool sound effects. Sure beats the normal machine racket blasting your ears in most videos!
Thanks!
Rumour has that beech slab is still hot glued to Ollaris’s bench. Fun vid to watch as always! Thanks.
You are sooo right! I need to finish that piece! It was a test run. I made the sled for an ongoing project.
Great Happiness occurs solving problems with a good groove on .
Thanks for your contributions

The sound of the hack saw put a smile on my face😊. Nice video and cool jig.
Hahahaha! Happy you liked it! 😀
Man that music over the power tools is a cool touch.
This was the perfect idea for a nice easy router sled and worked great for my first test run!
Thanks!
Mate you have just saved me at least 150£ thanks for your video 👏

That's really cleaver stuff. No words needed just all done with visuals and some nifty editing. Great job 👍
Thanks Tim!
Peew peew! The laser gun SFX are awesome!
Love the improv with the music, great iniative! So much better then listning to saws and routers! Great video!
Thanks a lot Robert!
I agree. Fun.
Hahaha. I love the music over the drill and saw noises, and the sound effects for the punch tool.
Thank you very much!
My first try at leveling a cookie slab was a disaster. My second try using your setup went perfectly. Simple, yet brilliant! Thank you
Awesome! Glad to hear you had success!
Thank you! You've no idea how helpful that will be. Quality music and sound effects to boot
I’m glad you took something out of it!
Love the sound effects. So much better than hearing the loud sound of the router or drill. Overall, nice job
Thank you very much!
The music/effects killed it ! Great work
Thank you very much!
LOVIT ! one of the Most Easiest Set ups I’ve looked into !
Thx’s for Sharing ! Well done !
Dude, I love your production. Brilliantly hilarious and ingenious.
Thanks Clayton!
Well done, sir! The beauty is in it's simplicity. Gonna make this sled this weekend. Thank you for the video.
Thanks!
First time watching one of your videos. I really enjoy the tones and harmonies your tools make!
Sweet! All tools should sound like that in real life! Great video and editing!
Thank you very much Paul!
Your editing skills are on POINT dude...
Thanks a lot!
The sound editing definitely made this video. Well done!
Thanks!
Very cool! Also that’s the cleanest workshop that I have ever seen!!!😀
Thanks Chris!
Love the video, well done! straight to the point no bs. And the sound effects are hilarious
Thank you!
Thank you for posting this video! Love your shop. Nice and clean.
Thanks!
Love this project. Simplicity at its best. And I dig the music.

Thank you very much Billy!
Nice build, and fantastic video! That is much easier than any of the other router sled builds I have seen and is definitely going on my build list.
Thanks Brad!
Genius. For the music alone, I sending this to my mates.
Thanks man! That really helps! I appreciate it!
The sounds baby, the sounds. That's the video my man.
Thank you very much Tony!
The sound on this video is just... perfect. Incredible work mate!

Disagree. Sound effects are annoying. But you can happily mute. Otherwise, a good video
Thanks a lot Steve!
Exactly! I wish more people knew this solution!
@@Ollaris true but i like hearing the white noise over muted video/music/sound effects

Agree with the peeps on sound editing. Like it, a lot.
I like your approach to this simple process.
You gave me the idea and I will certainly be copying you, thanks.

easier than the other sleds out there and it slides well too. Nice !

Very simple nice 👍🏻. I never thought of using hot glue to hold the slab thanks for the idea
