Wow. So much hate. I’m glad when any manufacturer puts out new gear or proposes new ideas.
Agreed
We would be too, put it out, this childish display is not what we deserve as valued customers.
I would be happy if they would put out new ideas, too.
There doesn’t seem to be any on the boards on display.
That's 5 minutes I will never get back! ICOM should fire it's marketing team!
Really? Because everyone is talking about this "reveal" - so what does MARKETING actually do? Seems like it worked just fine, to me...
@@HamRadio2 But the marketing left me with a Whiskey Tango Foxtrot feeling. Almost like the 787 reveal to Boeing employees. Empty shell of airplane.
@@DominicMazoch Agreed, I did too. But the marketing of the tease is also real
@@DominicMazoch As a former Boeing employee who saw that in person I know exactly what you mean, that’s exactly what I thought of as well.
What do I think it is? Too expensive for me to afford 😂
It reminds me of a 15-year-old boy waking up to tell his mother his science project is due today and she scrambles around to put together a pile of wet flour that resembles a volcano only in the sense that it mildly resembles a cone with a hole at the top.
Looking at the size and amount of PCB's I can already tell I don't give a .... .
What I'd like to buy is a next gen Icom IC-706/IC-7000.
7100 with its separate head/body is a no go for my use case.
It has a 200 Watt PA board so I'm going with 7851 replacement. Has two separate receive circuits. The only thing that makes me question if it's a 7851 replacement is the accessory board that only has 4 controls on it. Two dual controls with push button function, one dual control and a rotary encoder. That's basically what's in a 7300 or 9700. They are probably only showing some of the controls and they are also not showing any of the tact switch printed circuit boards (push button PCB's).
That "reveal" was closer to 1950s burlesque.
That's right hi thinking are little boys
The marketing team has their heads up their butt!
Do they? Because there is LOTS of talk going on about this right now...
Big deal. The display is a waste of time.
Breadcrumbing sucks. Show it when its ready
Agreed!
Now they're just trolling the Icom fan boys
I saw the breadcrumbing on Friday but I thought it would be different this time!
🤣🤣🤣
Hey Icom, 1998 called, they want their DVI port back… wow… cheating out on a multi thousand dollar radio, pathetic.
I’ve always loved my Icoms. Would be cool to see something SDR with iOS apps or a separate control unit much like a Maestro. Icom feels like they are falling behind in innovation.
This feels too much like customer gaslighting. I’ll pass, Icom.
They don't even know what it is. It's just a teaser. Maybe Icom doesn't even know what it is.
What I needs to make is a 706M2G or 7000 Next Gen. Or put the guts of the 718 2.0 in a mobile box.
I was going to say 706M2G Max, but that would not fly!
Feature wise, add a soundboard, USB, and bluetooth to an IC-7000. Use bluetooth and/or for audio and CAT, and make a CAT app.
@@LeeMcc_KI5YPRUSB A or C. Something common!
@@DominicMazoch USB Type B would be typical for such a device, most radios with CAT+AUDIO over USB.
@@LeeMcc_KI5YPR yeah… USB-B… in 2004. USB-C or nothing. They should quit acquiescing to people that are adverse to change.
Alright everybody, think! Hamvention is next week and the new radio isn’t ready! How can we have something to show everyone?
Considering what was on those boards and it’s been two years since introducing the IC-705 (QRP Manpack) for SOTA/POTA, the IC-9100 was 2011, 2012 for the IC-7100, 2016 for the IC-7300, and 2017 for the IC-7610. It’s been a minimum of 7 years since they released a base station. From a product management perspective, that’s pretty pathetic.
A DVI connector ? 🤣
Icom dropped the ball on this stunt. Waste of time..
Very good video Jason 👏
Ironically, there was a rapid radio commercial advertisement just before your video started. 😂 Which brings me to my question. If I wanted to main contact with my family that live throughout the state when the SHTF what is my best option during an EMP event and phones are not working?
Whatever it is, they can keep it for this terrible marketing.
I think the marketing is genius, myself.
I was hoping to see a new Base station radio becoming available before the end of the year.
Awesome all in one remote radio controlled by a 7610 or software VP8A
73
What is a good hand held? Price point $1000?
ua-cam.com/video/LLIxRV_a_R0/v-deo.html
I only hope it will be successor for IC-7100 - a big box with a most reasonable remote panel, not flat but at an angle like IC-7100
What I want to see Is a legit ham base station with no external power supply.
Me too
Wgatever it is, it will be expensive. Not affordable for me.
Just like ICOM.... Show up with a pile!
Hello Ray Novak😊
The new flagship , every ten years. In 2015 it was the 7851. for icom 60th anniversary ... this might be the IC-7860 to replace the 7851 and be a four antenna complete base station. Maybe ??
Why is it that they know so little about product management? I don’t get it. The Chinese are running circles around them.
Nice base station, all modes shack in a big box with top notch filtering
Icom 7860. Successor to the 7850 which was the 50th anniversary radio. So 7860/7861 seems logical
I want to see a new all mode all band and not a QRP, also with built-in antenna tuner from icom !
Yes
It's a microwave oven with a built in radio.
It's an old band all mode 100 w radio❤
About the only thing we can confirm is that its 200 watts because it says so on the PA board. Its also a push pull amplifier.
It's not push pull, there is only one large final.
A mobile/portable shack-in-the-box that includes 220 and DMR (I like D-Star but don't have a repeater near me) and can export the display to the in dash display of my jeep.
Unlikely
I know, but it would be cool
Here's hoping it's a 7300 the size of a G90.
Replacement for either the 7851 or the 7610. Both are long in the tooth.
Yes
I would’ve walked away
Nah, it was interesting
@@HamRadio2 I can appreciate that but it looked like they were going to show the new radio but then said nope wait until the next show. I’m not into that
What a shocker !!! Another SDR radio
But not another Icom SDR radio.
@@ItsEverythingElse You must have been watching a different video than the rest of us
They might say what it is at Hamcation 2025.
That said it will be revealed at the Tokyo convention as part of Icom’s 60th Anniversary.
It's Jason's next giveaway !!!!
Lol maybe
I believe It will be a almost all band radio with built in auto tuner AND A PC
I think it’s pretty clear that it’s probably a top-end SDR based HF flagship. With latest SDR it’s possible to better the already superb performance of the Superhet based 7851. As an IC7851 owner i am probably in the main target zone for being a future owner, but If it had a built in PC I wouldn’t even begin to consider it!
@@peterg2yt I think you just nailed something some aren’t thinking straight about: if it has a built in PC, that will become a liability in 18 mos. at the latest.
Ok so what is this thing? ICOM 5200 please!
Pretty sure this was an HF radio
New HF radio. Maybe a replacement of the IC-7300 or 7610?
Upgraded 200w SDR version of the IC-9100? Double the $ of a IC-7851!
A 200 watt version of the 7610?
That'd be nice
7851 replacement? The 7860.
Probably
A base station repeater.
What about a 4100 and 5100 replacement?
No news. I am hoping for a 5200 at some point, though.
IC-1205
IC-7610 upgraded new version.
7610 like version of the 9700.
Icom IC-7760.
7861
Few years ago. Ray got moved to commercial radios. Why is he rep amateur radio still
I think he is marine radio, not commercial
Do they actually have a dedicated Rep for Amateur Radio? That would be very telling.
I think it's funny how bent out of shape people are about this. It's genius from Icom, as everyone has been talking about it
That's exactly what I said
Looks like something that only top UA-camrs can afford hahaha
I'm going to be disappointed in Icom if they hyped us up with their QST ad and it's a 7580/1 replacement, a radio only a select few would be able to afford
Would love for it to be a 7300 replacement (cost wise too), IC706 or 7100 replacement with a 705 type head
Well, it’s not qrp
Nope
What I think it is a bunch of 7610 parts 😮cover it up in shame
At least Kenwood showed nothing new and Yaesu won this hamfest with an affordable product line
Has nobody at Icom realized they just killed their sales and dealer orders for the next 3 months. Anyone interested in an Icom will now wait - dealers wont order stock in case they get caught. It looks to me like a 7860 - wasn't the 7850 launched for 50 years and the 7800 range is the oldest in their range. Just my opinion.
My thoughts too - no way would I buy a new rig now until I see what is coming out. For a prototype they have certainly done a lot of work and I feel its design is well advanced. For me. Only interested in a new shack in a box
We pay hundreds of dollars for radios and this???
Hundreds? More like thousands.
Pathetic, how condescending
Who?
@@HamRadio2 Not you, Icom’s thinking this “kiss our ring” sheep herding was a good idea, treat people like adults.
@@Jennifer-007 haha, yes I can see that.
Hopefully this will be a flop. When will all these clowns realize that this is way too complex and not necessary. This is why I will not buy anything new. Hamvention was spent looking for old, simple stuff. Another pos in the making, very sad. Dave KC3AM
Did you score anything nice, Dave? 73. KC3UEE
Not that interesting. And the reveal will be in Japan first?
Yes, they are a Japanese company, so they always do that.
@@HamRadio2 Now that makes sense. I really wasn't thinking about that being their home base.
