Alocasia Cuprea Red Secret Care

- Ever wanted to get your alocasia cuprea red secret to have huge leaves? I discuss how I accomplished this and the products I used are listed below.
Timeplapse: I have had this timelapse for literal months, and included this despite not being able to speed it up to 15 seconds or less. The photo intervals were 1 second apart when recorded, and I cannot edit it down to a shorter interval with adobe premiere pro. The shortest I could edit it down to was a minute which is what I have included here. If you know of a trick please comment or DM me a video on it on my instagram. I would love to know how to do this.

I bought mine at a home improvement store as a small plant. It was about $3. I didn't realize it's rarity until I looked it up today. I guess I'm a lucky one😅
That is awesome!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I don't think that I heard anything about how you dealt with the spider mites
I use predatory mites.
Why do the leaves turn down and away from the lights? The stems are firm and it’s growing a flower but it’s constantly turning downward
I can't really help without a photo, but I hope you find out.
I bought one as a seedling only 2 leaves and about 8cm high. It's alive but not growing at all. How long did it take you to grow it? Could really need help.
This took two years.
@@plantastix wow. It’s a slow grower then. Thank you so much for your help 👌🏻
@@anwarallie They can size up more quickly than that, but it will depend on the conditions. My first year was somewhat unproductive because it was eaten by spider mites, and I wasn't fertilizing it regularly.
@@plantastix ok I'll try that. I'm heading into winter now so I guess growth will slow down as well. You've been very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. What size is the pot you have that plant in?
I think it is like 6 or 8 inches
Hi Can u tell me what medium u used to Pot it in please?
equal parts miracle grow, perlite, and vermiculate.
Just got my first Cuprea todaya! Great video. Subscribed.
What is your method to prop the corms? I'm using a prop box with perlite and it's been a struggle to say the least. Any advice would be very much appreciated!
I put them in a box with moss, and I kind of forget about them.
@@plantastix any time I’ve tried to prop in a box, I get mold 😞 what am I doing wrong
@@cortney213 What substrate are you using?
@@plantastix I tried moss! Sphagnum
I have tried so hard to like that plant, but it is so alien looking, and I think I am going to pass. I love the growth on it though.
You can do it!
And what to do when the leaves keep flopping over?? Ugh
I have this issue on older leaves.
@@plantastix I only have 2 leaves. How can it grow more??
@@iamgoregeous3952 more light and nutrition
@@plantastix Ty. I just bought a grow light for it and I have to get used to fertilizing her a lot more.
