I’ve heard quite a few Joel Salatin interviews. This was a wonderful recounting of his family’s experience in Venezuela and the fulfillment of the farming dream of his father. Joel is naturally engaging and a great storyteller. Kudos to the interviewer for just letting him have the floor.

I look forward to more from this interviewer as she is very talented at asking the right questions but mostly giving the space for elaboration of thought.

Mr. Saladin, as usual you hit the nail on the head with every word.
I personally am in shock that even my Christian friends don’t have a clue where and when they are living. The prophecies are jumping off the pages of the Bible and coming to life and they are focused on who will be on the ballot in November. I have never not voted in any election and if there is an election in November and I am still on the planet, I will vote. But I am not really expecting either of those things to be the reality.
Russia, China and Iran are already working together against Israel. If America was still functioning, we would be fighting against them Ezekiel does not mention us. So that pretty much lets me know the near future for America. I only watch the news online each night to see if Isaiah 17 is happening yet.
Sadly my friends believe that Trump will save America. I admire Donald Trump and if we have an election, and I am still living here, I will vote for him. I still believe that he has an important roll to play in earth’s near future. But my friends can not see his one fatal flaw that is going to make him vulnerable to a terrible future situation. His ego will open him up to great evil. He believes that he can make the world better and safe. I think that he will do that. I think that he save the world from the power hungry globalists He will become the beloved world leader that he was born to be. He will make things seem better… For at least 3 1/2 years. But after that… not better, not so safe. Like Judas, he was born for this time and for this roll. Not his fault.

As a US immigrant to Venezuela, who has been a sustainable organic polyculture farmer here for 20 years, I find it funny to hear Joel's story about his third world beginnings. He's right. His father was ahead of his time. But his father bought 1000Acrs with money earned from his job at a US Oil Giant. So... I doubt his relationship to the la d was that of a back to the lander, much less his relationship to the locals one of a humble immigrant looking to assimilate and put down new roots. It's important to put things in perspective. And due to his and his parents traumatic ousting, I'm not sure Joel is capable of that. But I'll take the story as an example of how not to raise chickens in Venezuela, as I grow my own free range operation under dense agroforrestry of fruit trees, cocoa, and coffee.

A good man and a wonderful example but I believe it's possible to live a moral and upright life without bringing God into it. I believe in people's right to choose what they want to believe. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Or "The object of life is to be happy, provided that happiness is not at the expense of others." Humanitarian morals and treading lightly on the earth should be taught from an early age. Yes, there are things beyond our understanding, but faith is a personal choice and cannot be forced on another. Peace and happiness to all.

It may be in one of his
books that he addresses that; his Dad had reached out to the government to try and help him get money back from the loss of his farm. He was able to eventually get some funds back and that went into the farm- ‘cheapest land’ as he mentioned here.

He who has eyes to see and ears to hear, let him see and hear. You have neither. Above, someone asked, how do you walk away from everything in Venezuela, and end up buying acreage in Virginia? Joel spoke about using barter to get improvements made on his Virginia land. He is talking about how his grandfather and father lived below their means in order to gather up the money to buy land. Barter is a an excellent way to do business that is just between individuals and leaves the greedy politicians out of the deal! Very very soon, if you don’t know how to barter, you will have to sell your very soul for a bite of food. And the concept of living below your means is not political, but it is an age old answer to gaining true wealth. Unfortunately we now have politicians who are making the most basic things like food, water and a simple roof over our heads become so expensive that no ordinary citizens will be able to afford to even survive without bending the knee and taking the mark. So maybe you should consider replaying the video. Especially if you have any interest in living life on your own terms or the people you love being able to do that. Because we are all standing on a razor’s edge of losing the freedom to make any decisions or choices ourselves. We are facing a future of slavery and slaughter. I am serious! So clear your eyes and ears. The principles he is teaching are the same principles that will be life saving within the next few years.
