- Although the freshly built shed is far from finished, it's definitely time for some basic electrics in here. At the time of filming and for the past few weeks the temperature has been in and around -5 up here in the Nordic borders. For this reason I have decided not to even attempt to jump on a spade into the icy rock that is my garden. I'll save that job for a warmer day. As you will see in the video, for now I'm keeping it simple. Once I'm fully up and running in here, I'll install some additional circuits for various purposes.
So why use black conduit? We'll no reason other than I figured it looks a bit more manly and rugged (That's me getting cancelled sometime in the future) I have nothing against White conduit but it will and does show marks, scratches and stains more over time.
Why use twin and Earth cable? why not it's perfectly acceptable to use and offers even more protection than the singles it's related to. plus I had gallons of the stuff leftover from abandoned jobs that didn't happen in 2020.
Thank you for watching.
AS USUAL GUYS THIS VIDEO IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT TO BE TAKEN AS ANY KIND OF TRAINING OR EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATION. AT ALL TIMES I AM IN FULL CONTROL OF THE INSTALLATION AND THERE IS NEVER ANY RISK TO PERSONS OR EQUIPMENT. ELECTRICITY SHOULD BE GIVEN THE FULL RESPECT IT DESERVES.

Greetings from Manchester once again.... Great to see your videos again....😁😎📽️👍👊✌️🏍️🍻
Welcome back sunshine 👍🏻
Welcome back missed your input.
Welcome back James 😎
Well hello Richard 👋.
Cracking shed! Very jealous
Nice little video great to see the pride you take in your work
Cheers, you can't really go wrong with this basic stuff. Still managed to mess up with that blind grommet.
Nice wiring tip for the CPC in the socket making that V.
It’s not really a tip tho? It’s just an idea if you didn’t know you needed to earth a metal exposed part then you getting a shock
@@Madman-ge2eb usually people install them as 2 separate pieces of wire to earth the metallic back box. I was referring to his method of leaving it as a single conductor.
The fixed lug on the socket front also conducts the earth path to the back box.
Virtual signaling! 😂😂😂😂 good to see you comic genius back james .
Haha it's all over social media these days. I'm sure one day soon it'll be a political thing to crimp or not to crimp. Cheers for watching.
Nice job as always 👍🏼I must admit my shed is "long term temporarily" ran from a socket too
Haha yeah I have a few temp permanent projects of my own.
Yeah I know that feeling I'm feeding half of my basement off a temporary connection into the panel it's probably been almost a year now good news is it's just for a fan and occasional tool. But the panel looks nice. Oh yeah I need to get a lid on there too. The nice thing about being in the US I have just about every slot filled so there's very few exposed conductors.
Nice one dude. Cool Beck cave
"Beck cave" I like that 👌.
@@JBE say it in your best South African accent. :)
Very nice work looking good
Can’t beat a shed, welcome back.
Or a hard boild egg. 👋😎
Great to see you back on UA-cam, hopefully you hit the 10K subs very soon!
Its great to c u back james.a superb job as always sir.well done.love the shed.
When your feeding the T&E through the conduit, cut a 45 off the end of it so its a point then it wont snag on the gland
Great tip Rick 👍. I probably install conduit about twice a year and so my excuse is that I just forget any top tips. Cheers.
Welcome back J Beck I thought you had retired with not seeing any post for ages.
Nice Shed! Did the same with an extension lead while mine was built. Keep the videos coming.
Cheers Mark. Yes I'm afraid other commitments mean this will be a slow burner for a couple of months, I'll keep doing bits on it in my spare time (Whatever that is?.
Just love watching your videos best electrician on you tube
Good to see you are still around......liked this one.....looks F cold in there tho!
Well it's no oven that's true. I'm yet to install a heater on the back wall.
Good to see another great video! Thanks for sharing 😁
Forget, nice sneaking the Veto's into the video! 🤣😂🤣
@@AccentAlarms Cheers Sean, yeah got to show off the Vetos when I can. Quality bags as you know. 👌
Nice work!
Drinks racks most important thing for any man shed 🍹👍
Nice video as always mate, I’ve got shed envy.
I’ll put some ferrels on just for virtue signalling 🤣 good colour on the T too 👌🏻👍🏻
Cheers, wait till it's finished and full of crap 🤣. I usually don't have milk in my tea but on this occasion I'm usually dairy free 😋.
@@JBE They always get filled with crap in the end 🤣 I love the wine rack/battery rack happy days 👍🏻
Nice cpc idea
nice Man cave
I'm not an electrician but I'm also not useless so I'll be doing the majority of my workshop wiring myself. Only concern is getting the 6mm armoured cable into the house and connecting it to the main CU😳😂
It is notifiable work too under part P of building regulations.
@cag9284 I've managed to rope my friend in to do the consumer unit stuff as he's a self employed sparkie 👍
@@jamesfox3784 👍🏻
JB you are so missed I have to say the only person coming close to your sartorial wit is Cory from Artisan but he is less subtle maybe my mate cable smith - must be a Manchester thing🤣. Talent like yours needs a platform like YT . Hope to see more content on here in the future. No heating in there or for a higher socket for little flat panel tv mount? You have space on the board so that could be down the road.
Haha and I thought people watched because I talk sense 🤣. Heating is on it's way as are some VDUs remember them? (Visual Display Units). It'll take time to bring it up to speed and how I want it. Don't forget the fridge, microwave and kettle as well 🤪.
@@JBE proper man cave 👊🏿⚡️
Good to see you back, wouldn't mind seeing the shed being built and type of insulation you've put in, shed will be comfy once you get a nice chair in there and a bottle of Crown Royal on the side.
Crown Royal now your talking.
So your just essentially plugged into an outside socket into the CU? That would make my life a lot easier 🤔 I'm only considering 2 led batten lights and maybe 3 or 4 double sockets same as yours. Think I'm going to go that way for now 👍
A nice man-space there JB. I didn't see where you sited the beer fridge though?
Oh don't worry I've made some space for a little fridge. Once I've upgraded the supply cable I'll get some more appliances and monitors in here.
Good to see you back fella 👍, nice shed as well. You build it yourself?
Cheers, yeah all built by my own hands 🤲😜.
Love the Benny Hill style music
Nice man cave. Away from the Wife!
If only I hadn't install two cameras in here that can be viewed from the house 😬.
Great video👍🛎🤝
Nice little job, how much did you invoice the missus for ?
Keep em coming Jimbo 👌🏼
She paid me to stay in here for some reason 🤔.
What size SWA will you use once conditions are more workable?
Probably 4 or 6mm 3 core SWA partially clipped direct to a fence and partially buried.
@@JBE cheers for the reply. Will you still come off a socket into a wiska box or run it back to the DB?
@@simonhilton6120 probably go straight into the DB in the house.
Hi Jeff, I hope your family is still surviving ok, during these testing times. Man Cave looks good, but don't forget to protect your gear. Fit an Alarm and check your insurance. Nice job anyway. Stay safe.
Hi Brian, my names not Jeff it's Grand master ram rod. Cheers though, Cameras and alarm installed along with smoke alarms and even emergency lighting incase I'm doing something dangerous and the power goes down.
@@JBE I am so sorry James, i think i did this once before with you. Strange, you look like a Jeff though. Glad to see your protecting yourself and your equipment. 😁
Great video, what type of cable dod you use to run from the house to the shed? Thanks
Nice and neat , where’s the pool table haha
I wish 😪 I'd only end up using it as a bench!
Like the cpc loop. What's the difference between rcbo and mcb ?
I know I haven't been around for a while but what happened to the old shed?
HELLO WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR CAMERA YOU USE FR VEDIO
Please can you explain what wire goes from light switch to light itself thanks
For my old garage i fed the light cable through the same trunking as the radial, see you kept yours separated. Is this just a preference or is there a problem doing what i did? Thinking of feeding my cooker circuit through the back of the sockets/ring circuit (gone for 45mm deep back boxes) just so i can use the same wiring route as its tricky with a pitched roof.
Really enjoying the videos, learning a lot from them and I'm definitely using the sleeve tip for the earth going forward.
When are you fitting the toilet? Spotted the loo roll holder above your head at 15.00
If I had a toilet in here I'd never leave 😆👍.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Hey what kind of insulation did you add to the shed there like where the trusses sit? Did you need to add any venting or fans to let the exhaust air out?
Lol. You really did not need that metal clip!
Just like you said how do these people sleep at night
1:46 Are you a secret plumber with those white waste pipes?
I do plumbing but I wouldn't call myself one.
Why didn’t you fix the sockets on all at once? It’s only a short run of conduit
Not an inch of flexicon - bundy won't like it.
He won't watch this, he's too busy melting copper into paper weights.
I think you need some DIN rail blanks instead of the metal ones. They are just poor.
Perhaps, even Fuse Box can sack them metal blanks off, and just include the DIN rail blanks as standard.
