What is a Golf simulator?
A golf simulator is a set of equipment that allows you to play golf on a graphically simulated golf course. It is a combination of software and hardware like simulator mats, sonic sound system, optical sensor system, radar, ball tracking system and cameras. A golf simulator presents club speed, clubface angle and impact, club path, ball path, ball speed, horizontal and vertical launch angle, and spin.

Golf hitting mats: Golf hitting mat is the replacement of the golf course. It is used to hit the ball and play with comfort. Projector screens: One of the most important things is the projector screen. It shows you where your shots are heading. Projector: Projector is another important equipment of the golf simulator. Each room requires a projector according to its own needs. Golf hitting net: You need the golf hitting net to catch your flying ball. A solid and dependable net might be a little bit expensive but it will last a long time. Simulator or launch monitor: it is the most crucial part of the golf simulator. This electronic device measures aspects like what happened to a golf ball when you struck it with your golf club. Computer: In order to use the golf simulator you need to install the software first. So this is why you need a computer. Golf simulation software: Without the golf simulation software you won’t be able to play golf with your golf simulator. The golf simulation software calculates your shorts and gives you the result.

Simpler simulators typically do not possess built-in software, but measure the movement of the hand-held sensor and feeds the information to the video game. Hi Jay, thanks again for all of these videos. I think a lot of us at home fall into the poor man's who what to be sim golfer. I have to view this as a longterm project that I build the pieces and with budget and size being the biggest concerns. I have no option other than this having to be outside where I have a cheap net and mat. As much as I'd love a GCQuad or connecting my PC outside, realistically it's looking like the Mevo + and an old laptop sitting on a stool. I'm very impressed with the Mevo + package with the included courses but from what I can find E6 is asking silly money for an annual subscription. I think I will be going through yourself for the Mevo + and TGC2019 and in the future a projector, screen and cage over the years. Thanks again for the videos.
True words, David. Same situation here. Sadly ,for running TCG 2019 smoothly a rather high-end (i.e. costly) laptop /Pc seems to be necessary
First off thanks for watching! Second I totally get it and that is why I try to show everything I can! I plan on taking the Mevo+ outdoors with E6 soon to compare as well! My simulator started much more basic than it is today. As I tell everyone, anything is better than nothing and you can subscribe here to stay in touch with what is out there and plan for additions for the future! :)
With E6, is there any difference between let’s say a MacBook vs Windows Laptop or are they about the same? I understand graphics being lower on mobile devices. I’ve just been torn between TGC2019 and E6 but TGC is Windows only and we tent to have more apple products in my household.

@@GolfSimulatorVideos ok, now I am lost, I don’t understand where you can download the PC version of flight scope for Mevo+, when trying to connect with the 10 day demo, the system is looking for a USB connected device like the X3, and the Mevo is Wi-Fi.

@@TheRyanRanch it's all the same. Just select it under simulator and when you are connected to Mevo+ via wifi it will recognize it. I think I even have a video on it, check out the unboxing.
Bought Mevo + and have latest iPad Pro. Hooking up to my projector which is 4:3 ratio with an HDMI cable and converter from iPad. Image only occupies about 60% and quality is quite poor. Do you happen to have any suggestions? On your demos it looked pretty good. Thx in advance

Thx for doing this Jay! Honestly if I were projecting into a screen would absolutely upgrade to the pc version, but if you’re going to be using a monitor the mobile version may be better with the additional mobility. Guess it dependa per person. This def helped though

My simulator setup is 4:3 aspect ratio. Can E6 connect be run in 4:3 and / or does the PC vs iPad matter if needing to run 4:3?
So I've been using SkyTrak and E6 connect on my iPad for years. I just got a new Windows 10 laptop. It sounds like I can take my current subscription which is a one year IOS mobile and unbind it from my iPad and use it on my PC? I did all that but when I log into E6 Connect on my PC it doesn't show I have a subscription to use??? Do you need a PC subscription or should I be able to use my current IOS subscription on my PC? Thanks

Great compare... really good to see the differences. Although the graphics are noticeably better in terms of detail on PC, iPad is more than acceptable for free content. I dont feel like I'm missing out on anything to be honest, and dont feel the need to upgrade from the Mevo+ package unless I feel the need for more courses..

Hi Jay - does the e6 Connect range have a Combine/Skills Challenge or a Dynamic Handicap feature? I think it does on SkyTrak but wondering if its available for Mevo+ and the e6 software that comes standard. Thanks!
Steve C No skills challenge exactly but it does give you target percentages when on the target range. Lists quadrants etc. I have videos showing that. I can find it if you want. Thanks for watching
Can I view included courses on Flightscope in 16:9 format with iPad ?
If I buy a 4K projector. Will the iOS apps project out at 4K? With Apple TV 4K, or using the lightning to hdmi adapter? Or do you need pc? Also are the GS golf and GS skills only available in the app. Trying to decide to by a pc or iPad for mevo plus.
No, only what resolution is being mirrored. So the screen reduction and also iPads are only in 4:3 format.
I'd like to know how the screen projection compares, I realize that has alot to do with the projector, but when using on a simulator it doesn't really matter how it looks on the actual device.

I have a SkyTrak and using E6 connect on an iPad. The lag on the iPad is bothersome and wonder if a PC would reduce the lag time between the swing and the video ball flight.
Unfortunately, the lag is with the SkyTrak regardless of the device being used or software, happens with TGC or Creative Golf etc. too. Mevo+ has much less delay but still a tiny delay.
Thanks for the videos. I’m doing a bunch of research prior to creating my garage golf sim. Am I able to pair the Mevo+ with my MacBook Pro? If so, can I run TGW and E6. Or am I only able to use an IPhone, IPad, or PC?

I would love to see Auburn Grand National Links and Princeville in a flyover E6 Video. I have played both of those courses in real life. Auburn is a tee shot placement puzzle that is a real test, starting right away on #1. Princeville is a stunning vista with extremely firm greens. The ball would bounce on greens about 3 ft high with short irons, but wind made it hard to hit high shots.

I'm planning on getting the Mevo+ and don't have an ipad, I have a gaming laptop PC with Win10 that should work fine, what are my most economical options to make the 5 pack of included courses work? Or is there no cheap option? Seems bizarre that FlightScope would only accommodate one format.

Yes the $300 subscription gets you iOS or pc and is 27 courses plus a rotating course and online play.
Tried to demo the 30 trial for iOS linked up to a SkyTrak. According to SkyTrak the trial version is not available for iOS and E6 have restricted it to PC only. According to E6 it is available as a trial version for iOS and it is SkyTrak that have restricted it to PC only! I have an iPhone 6s running latest iOS, SkyTrak and WGT. I don’t want to buy £300 worth of non refundable software to test that it works on this old spare smartphone or on my iPad mini 2 with Retina display. Appreciate any feedback on your experience and any info I can use to help me to make the purchase.
Keith Bowman Sounds like some confusion on both ends possibly but Skytrak always controls everything for software. PC is much better than iOS. iPad seems better than iPhone and iPad is still 4:3 with deuce 3D grass as you can see in the video. I was able to demo Skytrak and E6 for PC no problem so can you just try that? PC is much better though and nice software. Thanks for watching!
The upgrade for e6 from mevo+ios version to pc version... Are these both the same thing just on different platform, or is the ios version a Lite version of the pc version? Is there alot more content on pc version? How much is the upgrade
Same content and functionality. The PC detail and 3D graphics are just more advanced. You can still play online P2P iOS as well but only vs another iOS user.

Quick question...I recently purchased a Skytrak. What is my minimum investment to purchase the E6 software? It appears from their website that the E6 Connect Standard cost is $2,500. I've seen several comments and videos stating a $300 per year subscription. What does that apply to? Please advise.
You have to purchase direct from SkyTrak. It should start with a subscription at $300 a year.
Was this the free software on IOS or the paid version? I was told the free version is only 480p and that looks better than 480p
real-time shadow is quite noticeably missing from iPad and the textures are much higher resolution on PC. Also, the draw distance is much longer on PC. But I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker for a small ipad screen but if you're going to be projecting on a large surface the PC would make it look a lot more realistic. At a cost of course... But considerin the ipad version is free it's a great starting point.. Too bad it's ipad only though.

Yes P2P is available for any iOS user but must be against another iOS user.

Brad, your GPU is just going to allow for smooth movement etc. You can tweak your nvidia but once you are 4K and smooth a GPU doesn't change the look of the graphics. Thanks for watching

If you are referring to Mevo+ yes you can just pay $300 and you will have a basic PC license and be able to play online events, peer to peer etc. As well.
Great video! I already have an Ipad so i feel like its a waste to buy a gaming PC. The problem I have with the ipad is that it doesnt fill up my screen (9 x 15) when the image is projected. For some reason, the image is smaller (which was not the case when the projector was first mounted).
Can you give any tips on how this ipad issue can be addressed?

This is most likely due to you iPads resolution. I can take my latest gen iPad Pro 11" and fill my entire 16:10 screen using a 1920x1200 wxuga projector. Here is an example. ua-cam.com/video/VtkU_DOUmO8/v-deo.html

Have an issue connecting Mevo+ to E6, I can run all the FS software without issue but when I try to switch to E6 it says device not connected. Sure it is something I’m doing but not getting anywhere.

I open FS Golf get Mevo plus setup, it doesn’t seem to like the 12 degree setting but once I get connected I switch to the E6 program. Sometimes it shows connected but not always. When it does connect is when you force close the FS app?

msmath76 I just use FS to set the 12 degrees it actually uses a different degrees since no putting. If the unit is connected to FS golf then it can connect to e6. So force close FS golf and then open E6

Does the tgc2019 software work on macbook?
I have not ran it personally but most people I know just run Windows with bootcamp or parallels etc.

Great Video! What generation ipad do I need?
Latest gen iPad Air or any iPad Pro runs it well. You can run it with older generations you just might get a little bit of choppy video movement.
Wish they had the option to have full 3D graphics on iPad. new iPad pros could handle it better than a lot of computers.

That should be fine. They recommend a GTX 1070 or above but many run less and 1660 ti is a close benchmark. Mine is overboard i9 32gb gtx2080 2TB m.2 in raid etc.

It's really all about the GPU. Mine is custom built overkill for recording. Many are going RTX 3060 and are very happy.

It’s a yearly subscription so you could switch. I’m sure they could transfer it for you but you would just want to double check.

It’s a PC based only software. I am aware of some people using parallels or Boot Camp successfully, but I have not tried it myself.

Honestly anything with a GTX 1060 or above should be just fine. It will most likely have 16 GB of RAM and a solid-state hard drive and that’s all you really need you can find them on eBay certified or used for a pretty good price as well

So right now I am running the latest Gen iPad Pro 11" and my PC is way overboard with a RTX 3090. In this video I think it was my laptop with a RTX 2080 GPU.
Paying for a subscription seems pointless. I thought you'd be able to save data like yardage or carry distance for your range shots, games played, etc. But none of that comes with subscription, you just get more courses basically...such a waste. I will stick with free version.
Would it be higher quality on iPad Pro?
Ant this is the latest generation iPad Air. I mention that in the video. We have already compared the graphics from this to the iPad Pro and they are the same. The main purpose of this was to show a direct difference between iPad and PC for those looking to possibly upgrade. Thanks for watching!
