Have always put bonding plaster in my pva day before on silk surfaces makes it gritty never had an issue ,I had a silk ceiling once took four hours to go off 😂
Liking your videos mate. Just wanted to ask what is the average meterage that a plasterer should put on a day? I know tricky areas and stuff need to be taken in to consideration but that to a side, just the ball park average. Cheers
I’d say 40 - 60 . I did a room and a video about it called 56m2 room. Did it completely my self, laboured myself , it was hard work but I did it quite quickly , the whole room was on and live at one point. But not chucking it all on in one hit, starting small and time walls separate. Also what helped , it was cold, no heating , it was all over plasterboard. Not sure if I could bang one out a day at my level of fitness .
@@Plastersmurf74 You did well that day. I'm well aware there are people out there who may think that's nothing, I do areas like that all the time but being realistic, even when I was at my prime, I don't think I could have maintained working like that every day!
😂😂 YEP!! ... Definitely Copped An 👁 full Of THAT! 👍🤠 ... Always had the long hair Myself - A right nightmare when you get a PLOP! that embeds itself fully - Usually from a down-lighter hole in the ceiling 🥴😵💫 .... Have You tried SBR in your hair yet ?? 😄
I see you have the old site faithful, Plaster's crate. She's seen some work, plywood screwed to the top, ( centers always cave in, ankle breaker 😉) My favorite crate's, lucozade joined with grey milk bottle crate, great for high work, don't cost a penny like the aluminium platform thingy's. 💯 and one use carrying Tool's et cetera, the plaster's 🇨🇭 🪖🔪
Sorry to hear the Masters padawan youngling has left the Safety of his Jedi creche, it's a Big Bad Universe out beyond the Empires rim, has the Youngling gone over to Jasper the Emperor 😉. Hopefully your teachings have set him up to face the Dark side of the Force.
Give ya MR (green boards) a coat coate of SBR before ya plaster them or if clients are willing to foot the cost use thistle bond-it Be warned it almost £100 a tub. I believe you can just use durafinish straight over..never tried personally. Pva wont work.. Also please be aware that MR boards can still rot away.. cement boards are best if you want total peace of mind
Ref to not having to treat normal board. Yes you can skim straight onto it. But and its a BIG BUT.if them boards are old or have been left a while.you best PVA them or boy your in DEEEEEEP trouble 😊😊
Indeed, old discoloured boards, that have been up a long time , quite often a garage that now needs to meet fire regs I find them. Yes, pva to kill suction. Also, just a rather large plasterboard ceiling on a hot day, let’s say there’s no windows in, warm air blowing through, a bit of pva there won’t hurt to slow things down a bit. 👍👍 Good one John. 😉
@Plastersmurf74 shame to see Shay go like mate. But its a big world and who knows in 30 years time my son maybe watching his UA-cam vids. Good luck shay
@ na, he cool. He just needs some experience. He hasn’t been allowed to make any mistakes as I’m all over him. Best thing for him. Not quite ready in my opinion , but then again, when are you ready for stuff in life. Nothing like not being quite ready to make you be ready really sharpish! 😉👍 it’s not forever. I might need him next week for a job if he is available.
@@Plastersmurf74 Not at all suggesting and certainly not hoping you and Shae have had a fall out and this comment is a general one for all thinking of learning anything but if only I could get across to just one apprentice out there just how hard it can working with/for your dad whatever trade it may be. When I started, I couldn't even sweep up to my dad's satisfaction- sweeping up the mess left behind by others before being able to s/c float on site work.
