    Love this video! So helpful! Thank you. For larger trees, I would recommend watering along the drip line (outside ring of branches) to help roots grow.

    What are your plans for the winter? They will freeze and crack.

    Thanks so much! Loved the video. I’ve got similar need and around 50 trees over 1,000 ft and this helped me with the details I’ll need. Thanks again!

      You bet Wes! Yeah I wish I'd done this a few years ago. Was so cheap and easy to do! With 50 trees you'll have a lot more emitters so that 3/4 inch line may be necessary ( which is a lot cheaper online at the site i mentioned in the video then I could find at the box store websites ) --- but definitely would be worth taking the time to set one up for your 50 trees! Looking forward to hearing how your drip irrigation project goes, cheers!

    So funny that you put out this video today. I put in about 600 ft of a system very similar to what you put in about 2 years ago. My ground is not as flat and every time I mow I put a few cuts in the main line. I finally got fed up and rented a trencher and have been burying it this weekend. Hopefully you won't have the same issues.

      Funny timing! That's awesome you are trenching! Ours does lay nice and flat with the staples and smooth ground, but I still mow around it. Once we have all the trees planted and won't need to do more modifying, I may eventually bury. But for the time being this definitely does the job and works great. Awesome to hear your system is working well though! Cheers!

    What do you plan to do with it over winter!

    Would this be a good option for a series of 5 4x4 raised beds?

    • @DIYPETE
      @DIYPETE  4 місяці тому

      Hey Jack! So if you are needing to get water to five different raised beds, it would definitely be an option. You could run 1/2 inch pipe or garden hose out from the house similar to what I did. You could then use a 1/4 inch barb out at each raised bed and you could then use 1/4 inch tubing to get to the bed and use an emitter. Another option would be to use 1/4 inch soaker hose out from the barb and the soaker hose could water the whole bed. There are many ways you could do the project, but a drip system / soaker system could be built with ease and would work well.

      Thanks Pete. Was just yesterday trying to imagine a solution for my wife’s garden (I build it she works it). Love the videos, did the cornhole game and the patio cooler (my favorite project so far!!). Looking to next do the rolling kitchen cart but for outside. Limited patio space so something to wheel close to the grill when needed would be huge

      @@jacksav Awesome you've done the boards and cooler!! That rolling cart will be great out by the bbq. Have a great Fourth!

      Big huge two thumbs up on this project. We used the Dig products from Home Depot and designed the layout. We have 2 4x4 beds and put 4 360 degree sprinkler heads in each as well as a taller 2x4 bed. For the two 8x2 beds we used the 180 degree heads because those are up near our neighbors fence. Then about 5 heads in the berry patch. Super easy project and once you do one head all the others are the same. We were hoping to run it using the rain barrels and water pump but the pump is just a little under powered. The wife is super happy!!!

    Can you mow over this without harming it?

    • @DIYPETE
      @DIYPETE  2 місяці тому +1

      Great question! I had this question before as well. It’s been driven over often this summer and does just fine. We even have a stretch that goes across the driveway to a single aspen tree and we as well as the UPS and FedEx delivery trucks have driven over it many times and it’s held up without cracking or Any holes. Worst case scenario a section could always be patched. As far as mowing with the blades going, as long as the pipe is stapled down well so that it doesn’t stick up, I have had no issue mowing at 3 1/2 inches over the pipe. I have not had an issue issue with cutting the pipe ( knock on wood ) - but again, a section can easily be spliced and replaced. But as long as the mowing deck is high enough, and the pipe is tight to the ground, I don’t see any issues!

      @@DIYPETE Excellent! I am preparing to plant... 10-25 apple trees on the back half of my half acre yard, and was looking to irrigate them in a way that wouldn't take 6 hours a week...this seems to be the way to go.
      I guess I could actually grab a spade and put the tubing about 2 inches underground if I needed to as well. Thank you so much for the great video!

      You bet! We are about ready to blow out our lines with an air compressor for the year and just leave them in place. But they have been a game changer and are trees are night and day more healthy and have finally shown significant growth! Can't wait to add more trees in the spring. Looking forward to hearing how your trees do! Cheers!

      @@DIYPETE excellent! I look forward to getting them ordered - it's on my ever expanding to-do list but I'm sure you know what that's like.
