This is seriously one of the best home improvement how-to videos I’ve seen on UA-cam, regardless of topic. Thanks for making drip irrigation seem so accessible, I went from not knowing where to even begin to feeling ready to tackle a new project!
Great video. I work on an organic farm with LOTS of drip irrigation. One suggestion to viewers: If you are planning drip irrigation on a new garden or other area, install your drip lines before you put down your mulch or compost layer. Foxes and other critters like to tear up the drip lines as a water source as they “investigate” your crops. Happy growing!! 🌻🌺🪴
@@228Brendon agreed. 18 months ago, I installed drip irrigation around my house for foundation watering purposes and for landscaping plants... But never laid mulch on top, since then, I've had to repair some bite marks that created leaks.
Same here. My only concern is I live 35-40 minutes out of town so if I forget or miss one T or elbow, it's super expensive to get more. Regardless, this video is the best I have seen. Definitely watching again to make a plan!!
I'm a woman on a half acre property. I re-did my deck on my own, and my next hurdle is setting up a watering system. You made this so digestible!! Thank you for saving all my beautiful plants from this heat. I'm skipping off to plan out my system right now.
Protip: pulling loops straight off a coil introduces a full twist into the line for each coil. Unrolling it along the ground (or off a spool) allows it to lay flatter and doesn't stress the material. This goes for tubing, rope, cable, water hoses, extension cords, data cables, etc. Great video and nice yard!
Watch this video over and over and finally did this today. Now I have my system set up and running! Never thought I could do it by myself. thank you thank you!
I’ve watched so many irrigation videos trying to wrap my head around all the parts and their purposes and this is definitely the most comprehensive yet easy to understand video I’ve seen. THANK YOU!
I agree! I don’t know how I’m just now coming across this video but I’m so grateful I did. At this time there hasn’t been a video posted in four months. 😿 I hope you’re well Dee, wishing you abundance in all areas that matter to you. 🪴🖤
Thank you so much!!! I've been working on a big project, but it's taking longer than expected 🤪 work, holidays, travel, and weather have been slowing me up. Hopefully, I can get some more videos up soon!! 😁
That was a great tutorial on drip irrigation installation and design. Now that it has been over a year, you should do a follow-up video if you have not already done so, to show how the system is holding up and if any issue has come up that you would do differently in hindsight. Thanks for taking the time to make the tutorial.
Thank you so much for not rushing anything - for showing every part used (picture, name, link), doing close ups and broader shots and even an overhead map, and recapping to summarize, and in case anything was missed the first time. Even tips to correct mistakes or fix problems! This is one of the best how-to videos I've ever seen!
My ADD gets in the way and I get overwhelmed with a bunch of instructions. You were clear and concise and to the point, easy to follow. I like how you went over all the supplies and reviewed each one so I had time to write everything down. Thank you so much!
Just wanted to let you know that after watching this video we were able to convert all of our flower beds, hanging pots, planters and window boxes to drip irrigation. You are an amazing and natural teacher. Thank you for taking the time to make the video and explain everything from a to z. ❤
THANK YOU Dee, this was the first DIY project I worked on and my confidence is SO much better for it! After ordering parts, the materials came down to $375, including some sprinklers before tax and such. I was quoted $8k-$10k for a system! Only thing I will add is: Use pliers if you want to pull some of the pipes off the larger components where you put it on by accident. ProTip: If you have good credit and are in the US, you can get a Home Depot card to extend your return window to a year. It helped me to buy extra things and return later without stressing about not buying enough and making too many trips.
Good morning! This is my second comment on this video and I just wanted to point out that I have converted my whole backyard from grass to woodchips using the method that I learned from you as well as the drip irrigation. I kept getting big squares of cardboard from Bj's for a while and also my local Market Basket. I also called a few tree removal companies around my neck of the woods (Fall River,MA) and one of them brought me about 30 yards of woodchips. You are a very smart go getter and should be very proud of yourself! You rock!!! ❤️🇺🇦🇺🇸🤜
I've used drip depot for several years, their produts are by far better than the stuff you get and the box stores. I love that they have videos to show you how to use their products.
This is seriously one of the most helpful videos I’ve ever watched in my life!! Wow thank you for the step by step and recaps. I felt so overwhelmed before watching this video and now I feel empowered! Thank you Dee!
Great video helped to get a picture of the overall approach. My local pump shop said when you use any of those fittings to add a clamp, they sell plastic and metal ones depending on how much you want to spend.
Wow. I know many people have already written similar comments, but I also wanted to share my appreciation for your content. This video really helped us see that drip irrigation is something we could do on our own. I purchased my materials from your links and just finished it today. I have to tell you that we have watched countless videos on this subject and yours is still the best!!! Your voice is easy to understand and very soothing, I could go on & on but we have to check that the flow is right for each adjustable dripped!👍🏻☮✌🏻
I watched your video a few year back, thinking one day I'm gonna do this for my yard. After a few year, your video still the most detailed video. Thank you, this is so helpful!

@@DeesYard one last question well two lol; How does the pressure / water get distributed evenly? Seems like the first portion of the setup would have more pressure than the end? As long as you are using the proper size tubing for the length/gph you are using, your pressure will be evenly distributed thoughtout the system. Thank you so much for posting this video. I just installed my first two zone drip system, timer and all!!! You made it look so easy and that gave me the confidence to try. I’m so proud of myself. Thank you sooo much!
Just bought a house and need to fix the drip irrigation that was hastily installed when they prepped the house for showing. This video has given me the confidence to do that, so thank you!
Totally love your video, this is the one video has all the information how to install your own drip irrigation system. Dee showed all the parts and how to use them in detail. I am confident that I can do it by myself. Thank you Dee and waiting for more learning videos from you.❤
This has got to be by far the best product explanation/instruction video that I have ever seen on UA-cam!!! - or anywhere else for that matter. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making drip irrigation so understandable and so doable!!
I really appreciate how you explained each connection and what's best to use, plus adding drip lines to hanging baskets! I've never been able to figure out how to get water to the hanging baskets. Much appreciated! 😊
This is the best video for drip line irrigation I have seen so far. I like the descriptions and the demonstrations. Also a system that can hook into a hose bib is perfect for me. I don’t want to cut into my main water line and install a big complex sprinkler system. Thank you.
As others have written, this is the most thorough and well documented how-to video I’ve seen. I’m inspired to do this at my house now. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge!
This was the last DIY drip irrigation system video I watched out of several and by far Dee's is the very best. She covers all in an easy-to-understand presentation. Now, I hope she will do one on adding a drip system to potted plants. 👍
I really appreciate how you explained all the parts of the installation, it was so clear and it helped me so much, you have no idea how intimidated I was before I found your video, thank you for so much help!
Thank you for showing us how easy this can actually be installed. People charge a fortune for something so easy. I still have a lot to learn but this is a great step forward
Awesome video. I started a landscaping job this past year and felt so lost every time I was put on the irrigation crew and this just explained everything perfectly
You did a fantastic job on explaining the process.! What I so appreciated was … as you explained you showed a picture of each and every piece. I was able to do a screen shot and I can take the pictures to the store or order with full knowledge of what I need! Thank you very much!
I've been liking many of these comments but decided I needed to add my own comment echoing all the others. Yes, this is the clearest and easiest to understand lesson in installing a drip irrigation system I have ever seen. Thank you for your slow, exacting approach showing and explaining everything, including what size emitters to use for what soils. I've never before seen that in a video. This was the best!
Thank you so much❤️. This is the most helpful video I have seen in forever specifically for women like me who has no idea about part names and all. Very detailed. You made me confident enough to do it in my yard all by myself. Thank you again. God bless❤️!
Thank you for being so thorough and clear in your explanation. Pretty much every other video I've watched to figure this out was so vague for some reason.
BEST diy drip irrigation instructions there is and I've watched MANY over the past 3yrs. Finally it's in the budget to get it done this Spring. Thank you and happy new year, 🎆
Have wanted to set this system up for a very long time as I have a very large yard and many watering areas. This would free up a great deal of time and hopefully allow me to travel without worrying about everything dying while I was gone. I have a number of automatic timers set up in some locations but this would be fantastic. Hope to get started soon and appreciate all your valuable information.
Thank you for this informative video. I have done plenty of plumbing work but have never messed with irrigation. I now plan on putting a small system in for my flower bed.
I have spent part of my morning looking at different takes on starting an irrigation system in my flower beds. This was the most informative. The standards of the drip holes may not line up with how you've laid out your flowers and shrubs. The part about adjusting watering with emitters was the BEST PART!! THANK YOU!
Just getting started. Your video gives me confidence that I can do this, it's fantastic! Every detail is included. I took notes and stopped to write down all the parts and your links are so helpful (2 pages). Thank you, thank you, thank you! Are you a teacher? If you're not, you should be!
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your feedback and I am so happy you found this helpful!! Makes it worth it to me! I am not a teacher but my career in aviation does require me to explain things as clear as I possibly can 😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m now motivated to install my tubing purchased two years ago. You are a wonderful teacher and make it seem logical and easy.
Awesome, very helpful. You tackled the common problems DIYers will face. Most of the other videos do not mention these things. Thank you for posting this video!
This was very helpful. The scale I am working in is nowhere near as large, but the permalock couplers may have saved me some stress when I set my system up for next Spring. The soaker hoses I have are fine, but will not last and only cover about 3/4 of my garden and I still end up hand watering most of it.
Fantastic video. This will be my first attempt at this; your instructions gives me confidence that I can do this on my own. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
I have been researching drip irrigation and trying to find videos on it but always leave confused. This is the best video I have seen for a tutorial! I really loved the real world example and helped me understand what I need for my system much more, thank you!
Having watched dozens of videos on drip irrigation, yours is by far THE BEST! Count on a woman to be the most articulate educator! Unfortunately I didn't have your valuable guidance and made multiple trips to the big box store to figure out all the parts needed to convert a pop up sprinkler system to drip. I really admire your knowledge-ability!! Thank you. I'm a follower! Sierra
I came on to say this the best drip irrigation video I have ever seen (and I watched many), but I see many others feel the same. It is clear, has a reasonable pace and good views of what you are doing. More importantly, it is not full of the gadgets that the others like to list. Thank you! It is the first video by you that I watched. Will certainly check out the others.
WOW you covered everything and all my questions..I have an existing drip line but it is totally off on all the spaces where the water flows so I plan to use a lot of the goof plugs, cut the 3/4 line, use the 1/2 elbow and run 1/4 line with the different emitters..will get a little fancy with the emitters though..the previous home owner made a HUGE rectangle with thick piping that is really awkward to garden around so that's the first thing I am getting rid of and use the existing 3/4 line and branch off from there with 1/4 inch coupler line throughout the garden bed using different emitters! THANK YOU for this video!
Thank you for this very clear and helpful tutorial! I’m about to start setting up a watering system. One quick tip I saw in another non-gardening video for burying hose or pipe - You can use a reciprocating saw with a cheap pruning blade and cut a strip through the lawn or dirt. You can cut both sides of a “ditch, or for hose, just push the hose in the crevace and fold the dirt back down over it. It’s super easy! I’ve also used this method for cutting out crab grass. 😅
Thank you Dee, you have encouraged me to move forward with a project I have been putting off for years. Dragging hoses around one's garden is becoming a pain and time consuming, thanks again for the inspiration, I know I can do it now!!!
Nice, simple and low cost strategy! I'm getting ready to do all my flower beds, and I was definitely overthinking the plan. I'll bang this out in a weekend thanks to you.
One of the best set-up video for drip irrigation system. You made the whole process so simple and easy. Excellent step by step explanation. Thank you so much for sharing and helping.
Thank you for the info about the water hammer arrestor. Until this week, I had never heard of water hammer. My timer shut off abruptly, and the pipes under the house started making a tremendous clunking, and my irrigation system was spewing water. It cost $300 for a plumber to come on emergency and troubleshoot. Apparently it was a combination of a water hammer situation and one of the shutoff valves being partially open. I'm going to look into these arrestor devices.
This is an Outstanding video! So clear and well done, with such useful information. It is Exactly what I needed. And I appreciate the link to Drip Depot as a resource. I had not heard of them before and have been having trouble finding the supplies I needed. Thank You!
Good start to a morning with an inspirational vid from Dee.. Great info on drip irrigation.. Good idea on the auto turn off.. As I would definitely forget to shut off.. Wow.. High tech..
OMG i had this crazy idea to do this myself bc my husband has wayyy too many projects right now. Yours is the 1st video I watched! That's it, this is it. I will watch it again tomorrow as i sip my cafecito....and boom the material will be ordered!! THANK YOU
☘This is the best demo on setting up an irrigation system. I wished I had come across it when I set up mine. I was still able to learn a few things. Can't wait to watch the one on watering the hanging baskets. I may suggest to use the b-hyve timer by Orbit, instead. It is very affordable, easy to install and WiFi accessible. This way you can monitor the watering from far away, using your phone. I am so thankful that I installed them on mine. The timer detects when it will rain on your area and automatically delay the watering. Many thanks!!☘
Omg! Thank you for making this video! You make it feel so much less overwhelming and more doable! It really helps when you break it into parts and explain the reason behind everything. Your video is the best out there to learn this!
Thanks for this great video. I know I can do things around the house, but it always gives me that extra confidence boost to see another woman doing it first!
I've used heavy duty zip ties in a pinch to make sure the tubes stay connected is something is loose or jenky. Cinch them with pliers. Worked well for 2+years

Thank you for this informative video. I have done plenty of plumbing work but have never messed with irrigation. I now plan on putting a small system in for my flower bed.
Finally, someone who can break it down where I can understand! I feel like I can do it now. Awesome video! Gave it a like and share!
Thank you so much 😊
I have spent part of my morning looking at different takes on starting an irrigation system in my flower beds. This was the most informative. The standards of the drip holes may not line up with how you've laid out your flowers and shrubs. The part about adjusting watering with emitters was the BEST PART!! THANK YOU!
Thank you!!! 😊
Thank you kindly 😊
Awesome, very helpful. You tackled the common problems DIYers will face. Most of the other videos do not mention these things. Thank you for posting this video!
Thank you so much Walt 😊
This was very helpful. The scale I am working in is nowhere near as large, but the permalock couplers may have saved me some stress when I set my system up for next Spring. The soaker hoses I have are fine, but will not last and only cover about 3/4 of my garden and I still end up hand watering most of it.
Fantastic video. This will be my first attempt at this; your instructions gives me confidence that I can do this on my own. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Absolutely Christine! If you have any questions at all, I'm happy to help 😊
I have been researching drip irrigation and trying to find videos on it but always leave confused. This is the best video I have seen for a tutorial! I really loved the real world example and helped me understand what I need for my system much more, thank you!
Thank you!! 😊
I watched so many of these irrigation drip system videos and this is hands down the best one! Love all the details you included.. thank you!!
Yay!!! Thank you
Having watched dozens of videos on drip irrigation, yours is by far THE BEST! Sierra
Thank you so much Sierra, I really appreciate all your kind words 😊
This was so so helpful. I feel significantly less intimidated by this process. Thank you!!
Yay!! Thank you so much 😊
The BEST! Great details - now I can stop binge watching all the instructions in the universe and just get to work! Thank you - subscribing :)
Thank you 😊
First time doing my own landscaping and this video was perfect for knowing what to do and how to do it!
I've watched so many informational videos but yours has been so incredibly easy to follow! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing 😁
Yay!! Thank you 😊
Still watching.. Really good info with great how-to.
Thank you!! Great tip, thanks for sharing!
Nice. As an old farmer and retired military excellent job. Well done!
Thank you 😊
5 minutes into your video and already subbed. I love how you explain the items and process. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you kindly!! 😊
The best practice dripping irrigation installation guide.
Thank you!!
You are awesome! A very smart woman, and I can hear the Carolina Wren in the background!
Too kind, thank you!
Thank you Dee, you have encouraged me to move forward with a project I have been putting off for years. Dragging hoses around one's garden is becoming a pain and time consuming, thanks again for the inspiration, I know I can do it now!!!
Thank you Carolyn!!! 😊
Very nice video! I'm glad that I watched it because it made me feel like I can handle the task! Thanks for that! 🇺🇦🇺🇸
Thank you!!
This is the best drip irrigation video on the platform. Thank you.

Thank you for your awesome feedback 😁
Awesome video…..I finally get it!!! Thanks so much!!!
Absolutely!! I got the idea from my washer machine (same objective) and started looking into it, works like a charm!
Very very helpful! I was so overwhelmed to use a drip system and now am so encouraged!! Thank you so much!! Best explanation :)
Yay! So happy to hear 😊
Excellent presentation. I hesitated to get started with this process to 6 years until I found your video. Thank you very much
Happy to hear!!! 😊
This is an Outstanding video! So clear and well done, with such useful information. It is Exactly what I needed. And I appreciate the link to Drip Depot as a resource. I had not heard of them before and have been having trouble finding the supplies I needed. Thank You!
Thank you!! 😊
Thank you for this! We are going to do this for my MIL for mother's day and then our yard after!
Oh wow!! That is an amazing Mother's Day gift!! 😊

Thank you Chris!! This one took some time! Have a great weekend 😊
Wow, thank you so much for this video. The wife desired a drip system for our new yard. This makes it doable!
You're welcome 😊
A great presentation with useful demonstrations. Well done, informative and simplifies the process. Impressive
Thank you kindly Patricia 😊
OMG i had this crazy idea to do this myself bc my husband has wayyy too many projects right now. Yours is the 1st video I watched! That's it, this is it. I will watch it again tomorrow as i sip my cafecito....and boom the material will be ordered!! THANK YOU
😅🤣😂🤣 My husband's list of projects is overflowing as well. Good luck!! You can do it, and thank you so much 😊
Awesome instructions. I feel confident that I can set up my system for this season. Thank you!!
Awesome!! You got this!
Thank you kindly!! I tried the b-hyve timer and it did not work properly and/or consistently for me, which stinks because I really wanted to like it.
This is fantastic. LOVE the details, examples, and recommendations. Thank you
Thank you kindly 😊
That was an excellent tutorial! I am getting ready to set up some drip for some pots but now I know how to set up a garden bed. Thank you
Thank you kindly 😊
Thanks for a great video. You made everything seem easy to do! Thanks for identifying all the parts needed too. I feel ready to get started!!

This was so helpful and educational! Thanks for posting!
Absolutely fantastic instructions. Concise and straight to the point. I followed your advice and have had great results in my garden. Well done.
Thank you for making this! Super easy to follow, very informative.
Omg! Thank you for making this video! You make it feel so much less overwhelming and more doable! It really helps when you break it into parts and explain the reason behind everything. Your video is the best out there to learn this!
Thank you so much!! 😊
Very helpful and thorough explanation. Great teaching video. Thank you so much!😊❤️
Thank you 😊
Thanks for this great video. I know I can do things around the house, but it always gives me that extra confidence boost to see another woman doing it first!
You got it Lauren!!!! 👍
This was fantastic! I’m absolutely doing this in the very near future. Thank you for this very clear video. Awesome!
Thank you 😊
I've used heavy duty zip ties in a pinch to make sure the tubes stay connected is something is loose or jenky. Cinch them with pliers. Worked well for 2+years
FANTASTIC VIDEO! Thank you so much for the thorough explanation, I can see you worked really hard on this video! Subscribed :)
Thank you 😊
