I think 2019 will be a great year for you, and it will be my pleasure watching it. 2014 happened for a reason ... your discerning eye works best with your wonderful imagination to the benefit of us through your art. Looking forward to part 2 of this.
Dude, that foggy photo of the San Joe stacks just slays me. Looking forward to some capers soon ;) That sand dollar shot you were telling me really does look like a pencil sketch. Brilliantly seen.
Adam, losing your longtime photography job in 2014 would have been a challenge and "now what?" moment. However it has allowed you to develop this channel and share your photography adventures plus present your ability to craft art that is now shared with a different audience in contrast to the magazine. Looking forward to seeing your 2019 contributions to this channel and wish you continued success.
Adam ~ We viewers have so many choices for artists to follow, I follow many and learn from most. Your videos and photography, however clearly rise above the rest. I love your down to earth style of delivering location content and then intimate photographs. Your method of teaching by demonstrating, of sharing your thoughts, creativity, humor and passion is humble, genuine and inspirational. As with your photography, your videos reveal an intimate view of you the artist and the man, which is wonderful. Thank you! Happy New Year.
Adam: "I'm not going for the WOW factor..." Me: "Wow, oooooh, wow, daaaaamn, wow....." Holy mackerel, Adam. Wow is all I have, words are lost on me. Love your style.
Adam, you have no idea who I am, what I look like, or what I'm like as a person. However, I must admit to have watched every one of your videos, which has have taken my amateurish photography to a new level, and a new perspective on landscape photography since watching your videos. Your images follow the same mantra as mine does; as Ansel Adams replied to a reporters question, "How do you take your pictures, Mr Adams". Where Adams replied, "You don't take pictures, you make them". Your videos give me that much needed inspiration, and initiative to get out and shoot, and applying what I have gleaned from watching your videos to my own images. You seem to coach more than teach. Your tutelage as you set-up for your shots are first-rate. Keep it up, Adam. I look forward to watching many more of your very entertaining, and very educational from a budding landscape photographers point of view. You have also introduced me to many other photographers' work. Thanks so much: Sincerely.
A few years late commenting on this! But your photography is in a class of its own, especially when it comes to forests. You have a way of arranging compositions and using light to make the scenes look like a dressed stage set (in a good way!). It's like everything has been somehow specifically placed in the scene by a giant or something.
Adam, I am a bit late to the game here but I suspect most of us don't really care if you are not the most articulate guy always. I know I would struggle with talking to a camera. We care about the images and instruction we receive here. Keep up the good work. :)
The last image is my favorite, however the forest images are a close second. Living in the northeast US we have similar yet different areas, forests and oceans. Each time I venture out the trees have changed or the tides have created new scenes and it can be difficult to capture a stunning image as you become so familiar that you overlook the obvious, until a tourist is amazed by what you see as everyday and they see as new, then your reminded how awesome it is to live in an area others pay good money to see one time. You have created through your images a desire for me to trek west and spend some time seeing your area. Great work and your videos with Gavin are some of the best collaboration ever on you tube, the ladder hike is hysterical.
Adam, your presentations are exceptional...lucid, accessible and inspirational. Your pleasant, authentic manner makes them that much more compelling. Keep up the good work.
Grim Gibbs, hahahaha you are my fave photographer and you 2 with Gavin are a total dynamic duo. Love your visual style, you have incredible eye. Cheers from the UK.
Wow...I have seen everyone of those videos, and seeing the photos that came from them just never gets old! My top three (so far) are the falls with the cedars (had to take a boat to get there), the sand dollar, and the sea stacks with bonsai on them. All of them are absolutely stunning. Also, thank you for sharing your back story.
Your videos are a true pleasure to watch - and, for me, your images show the actual true beauty of this world we live in. Your artistry and forthright commentary are always inspiring. Thank you!
The sand dollar image was such a great idea! It took me several moments to see that it wasn't a drawing, even *after* you explained what we were looking at. Wonderful photos. Looking forward to part two.
Keep on seeing creatively, Adam! You still have many years to go. I am approaching eighty years and still photograph, for my own enjoyment. If I were younger I would join one of your workshops.
Love your video! Especially loved the twisty root path & the national park shots were just awesome. In the middle it looked like a woman with her hand raised. Loved all the lines. Thanks for sharing this amazing video 😍🔝💯
Great video and great photographs. The common theme I see in most of these photos is that it shows the areas you're photographing as being pure, untouched raw nature. The planet can be fierce and unrelenting and I know just getting to some of these areas is only possible through tremendous effort. As vicious as planet earth can be, it also provides some of mans ( and womans ) most peaceful moments. I feel like you've captured these moments well with your photographs. I'm inspired. Great Job!!
I think that the last image in this video is my favorite, with the sand dollar one being my second fav. Both required you to see things in a different way, and I think that is what makes them so interesting. Great job!
I have enjoyed following you through 2018, and I look forward to seeing what develops in 2019. I really enjoy the variety of compositions and locations - but a consistent style. Excellent.
I never thought or cared much about Canada, I just knew it is a nice country, but since I started watching your vlogs and photos, I want to visit it badly. All the best in 2019, Adam.
I discovered you through watching some of Gavin's work. (It's funny because I found Gavin by watching Tom Heaton.) You both are so funny, but I didn't get the chance to take you seriously. One day I watched one of your solo videos and I was hooked. You are terrific and I learn so much watching. Please keep it up!
I became familiar with your work years ago while I was a gardener and also while I was exploring garden and flower photography. I use to look at your images in magazines in amazement. I have left that field but got alerted to your work again by another Utuber and this video with your favorite images reminded me of how much I enjoyed your work and I look forward to spending time checking out your work. Images #3, # 5 and #6 were my favorites. I appreciate that you give a narration of the backstory of the images and it makes them that more magical. Have a great year!
Yourself and Gavin Hardcastle are by far the most under subscribed photographers on UA-cam.. As always, brilliant and informative content. I look forward to following your journey throughout 2019. Take care and Happy New Year..
Fantastiques photos Adam, not easy to choose I guess. Living in your country dont help ! A lot of incredible places you have near your shoes ... Vivement demain ! Merci.
I have enjoyed your vlogs over the year. This has been no exception. The opening drone footage with each image, well most, really helps to set the scene and context. Looking forward to tomorrow’s video.
Adam, i’m a teacher, but you shoot be one on the photograph academy, teaching ‘compositions in landscapes’!Pretty impressive photo’s there. Can’t wait til tomorrow.
I disagree, your content isn't 'half-decent', it's more than decent. The footages are amazing and your photography is top class. Please keep going, happy new year and I wish you more subscribers, at the least triple the current numbers in the next 12 months! :)
Lovely images Adam, it’s clear to see your background in garden photography has heightened your skill for small landscape scenes. The drone work is always breathtaking as well. I can’t pick a fav between the last curving rock image and the tree trunks that curve around and required focus stacking. ‘Seeing’ those images is a talent.
Hey Adam. I´m from Germany and learned my English in School. So, I try to make it easy for me... I totally agree with Michael Vail and Drew Turnbull. Your channel is really outstanding and you are nearly the only one taking photos in the wood. For me, who lives in southern Germany (Black Forest), your videos are very inspiring and sometimes a whole week of waiting for the next Video is really hard ;-). As you say in this video, there are way too much sunsets, sunrises and smooth seascapes to look at. Very often great Images but simply too much. So I hope you go on your way and with your type of photography, which is really amazing. All the best for 2019! Tom
A wonderful journey I’ve been on with you. For me you have provided entertainment and quality viewing with amazing photography. What more could you want!! 😁👍
Adam That would be great! And I don’t think I’d be as star struck next time 😂 I’ll drop you a message, if you need any help, car journeys or to meet for some photography, just let me know 😊🙏
Some great photographs Adam and looking forward to part two, but some of your drone footage just blows me away! Found you through Fototripper and looking forward to going through previous videos.
Beautiful work - been a joy to follow your progress - I really want to visit Vancouver Island to see some of these places! One suggestion - a better popper stopper in front of your microphone would help your audio not have strong PPPPs in your audio. Even a inexpensive one will make a huge improvement. Good luck and happy 2019 to you!
Thanks for this wonderful retrospective, Adam. Your photography is a compelling witness for what can be accomplished in the photographic medium. Comments below say it all.
Hi Adam, I was not surprised to hear you say that you didn't like talking to a camera when you started out due to lack of confidence. Because you and your colleague Gavin do come over as painfully shy and introverted in your vlogs. I do hope you both come out of your shells a little and lighten up. The production of this video is absolutely beautiful - Nat Geo standard. The photography is Top Class - Stunning. But you say it's not the WOW kind of photography. I think WOW when I look at them. The wow is in the majesty of the massive trees and in the mood & atmosphere of their ancient forests. It might be subdued wow but it is very strong due to your Photographic Style. Going to enjoy the second half of the vlog. 👍
Many thanks for sharing. Love the Yoho images. That area seems to have huge potential. Love the sand dollar image as well. Looking forward to part 2. Wishing you a hugely creative and successful 2019. Cheers
n° 2 it's like fairy tale love te athmospher in there, and the sand painting it's something else for sure, brilliant capture really enjoyed watching it,great job
Your work is phenomenal and it inspires me! I did not know about you losing your job a few years ago-but you’ve certainly made the most of the situation. I, too, worked for a scholarly journal and lost my job due to layoffs several years ago. I then turned to full-time photography. There’s nothing I enjoy more or have gotten more reward from than photography. In a way, losing my editorial job turned out to be a good thing! I love your work! Happy New Year from the Midwestern United States.
I’m so glad to have discovered you this year. You impress me so much in the lengths that you will go (distance and time) to get a photo and how you then find a composition. I suppose I like #3 best because I tend to be drawn to the grander scenes, but others like the last one are so impressive too. Happy New Year from the Ottawa area.
I discovered your channel almost a month ago & I've been hooked ever since. I've heard you speak abt the gardening magazine, but I didn't know the back story, thank you for sharing some of that. I am too in that tipping point & while photography is more recognized as a "real career", there's still some of that "artistic career stigma" (atleast in my family) & it's true, it's a saturated market overall. But I'm inspired, in large part to you, to continue on my artistic journey 😊. That Bonsai Rocks photo is just stunning! Can't wait to see the 2nd part of this video. Wishing you all the best in 2019!
Fall is also my favorite time for landscapes. With that thought in mind, I look for other opportunities. I find cityscapes to be very rewarding. And of course, those images are less dependant on weather. I shoot a lot of night and first light images. Best wishes.
Hey Jeremy have we met before? Perhaps at one of the Nature Photography conferences years ago, either Portland or out east? Do you shoot a lot of panos?
Adam Gibbs you have a good memory. It was with NANPA in Portland years ago (2004 I think). I was there with Canadian photographer Nancy Rotenberg. Did you know her? I did shoot panos back then but got rid of the 617 more than 10 years ago. Vancouver Island looks magnificent. Perhaps we could collaborate in a tour there sometime. See www.pixelchromephototours.com. I did a Scotland tour this spring with Peter Cairns and I think he mentioned your name when we were talking about UA-cam vlogs (do you know him?). I really enjoy yours along with several other landscape guys.
No, I didn't know Nancy. Always open to tour possibilities, I notice Nevada Weir is instructing for you guys, love her work, great speaker as well. Yes, Pete and I did a tour in the Canadian Rockies a couple of years ago through his company, it was a really good trip. Hard to believe that NANPA meet up was 2004, wow time flies!
Adam, what a spectacular year! The images are just breathtaking and there are two that completely are captivating: the last image with the blue rocks and the San Joe stacks - simply incredible work Happy New Year Peter.
A great bunch of images, Adam! I'm looking forward to Part 2. I really like the intimate detail photographs, although the intimate details (revealed elsewhere) regarding your lens cloth were a bit much!
Your content has been better than "half decent" Adam, it has been brilliant and inspirational my friend! Looking forward to more such adventures in great photography through the coming year. Greetings as always from Brisbane and Happy New Year :-))
So far, Cathedral Grove and the Yoho image are my fav's. I love the immersive nature of the the woodland photo, just so much depth and detail. The colours and patterns of the Yoho image do make an image that you can also spend a long time exploring. Would love to make it out for one of your workshops in the future! Cheers!
Wonderful images. Love the concept of the sand dollar moon rising above the trees. That really does look like a sketch of trees. Awesome stuff. It needs to be in an art gallery. Mind you, so do the rest of the images as well. The secret location one is incredibly beautiful too. In fact, they are all incredible.
2,4,5 and 6 in particular are stand out .. i watched this full screen 27inch , its was great :). b roll and music are very chill . with the second part added it will be an awesome end to the year . its very good work and well put together ... have said this many times and will probably say it many more times, this is such an under rated or under followed channel its untrue .. the photography and drone work are up with the best on youtube , the information on each vlog , the inspiration and general content are fantastic . i can say i really look forward to and watching this channel ...Adam you have some talent .... and its really interesting watching your work and seeing your images , here's to a successful 2019 ...
Excellent video; very inspiring! I would have been fine with it being only one part instead of splitting it, but now I have another one to look forward to, part 2. Keep up the good works!
I'm loving the sand image. I captured a similar image on Gili Meno Island in Bali, not quite a pencil drawing like this mind but or an image I took on my phone it has long since been a favourite of my travels around the Balinese Islands, I wish I could post it. It also provide the solid inspiration for my full sleeve tattoo as well although trying to explain what was in my head to a tattoo artist from that picture was hilarious, many a confused look..! Anyway, I'm gibbering now, I have a great image and great tattoo.
Hey Adam, Thanks for sharing this awesome journey. Love the images. I must admit you've been a huge inspiration in my own landscape photography. I really can't say thanks enough mate. Happy Holidays and God Bless.
Don't forget to tune in for tomorrows instalment for the rest of my 2018 favourite photo selection.
I think 2019 will be a great year for you, and it will be my pleasure watching it. 2014 happened for a reason ... your discerning eye works best with your wonderful imagination to the benefit of us through your art. Looking forward to part 2 of this.
They are all great. #3 is my fave.... Keep up the good work.
Dude, that foggy photo of the San Joe stacks just slays me. Looking forward to some capers soon ;) That sand dollar shot you were telling me really does look like a pencil sketch. Brilliantly seen.
Cheers, buddy! really looking forward to 2019
please work together more in 2019 .You two have great content and when your together its twice the awesomeness in one video!
Oh we're on it ;) @@erins2673
Capers is the right term for the two of you.
Such absolutely beautiful photos! A joy to watch and listen to your thoughts :)
Thanks Mads!
OMG ! The last photo of red woods .....how trees were grown so strange etc.....
extremely unique and simply stunning !!

Adam: "I'm not going for the WOW factor..."
Me: "Wow, oooooh, wow, daaaaamn, wow....."
Holy mackerel, Adam. Wow is all I have, words are lost on me. Love your style.
To stop and think is probably the most important advice you have given, thank you Adam.
Your first year have been a 'flop' Adam, as you described it, but now you are the best landscape photographer in the world IMHO.
Thanks, Mark!!
Adam, you have no idea who I am, what I look like, or what I'm like as a person. I love the Sand Dollar shot.
I love the fifth pick so much. One of the best images I've ever seen. Fantastic work Adam!
Wow...I have seen everyone of those videos, and seeing the photos that came from them just never gets old! My top three (so far) are the falls with the cedars (had to take a boat to get there), the sand dollar, and the sea stacks with bonsai on them. All of them are absolutely stunning. Your videos are a true pleasure to watch - and, for me, your images show the actual true beauty of this world we live in. Your artistry and forthright commentary are always inspiring. Thank you!
Wow, thanks, Sandy! made my day :-)
The sand dollar image was such a great idea! It took me several moments to see that it wasn't a drawing, even *after* you explained what we were looking at. Wonderful photos. Looking forward to part two.
Thanks, Jimmy!
Keep on seeing creatively, Adam! You still have many years to go. I am approaching eighty years and still photograph, for my own enjoyment. If I were younger I would join one of your workshops.
Thank you! Happy New Year!
Love your video! Especially loved the twisty root path & the national park shots were just awesome. In the middle it looked like a woman with her hand raised. Loved all the lines. Thanks for sharing this amazing video 😍🔝💯
One of the best recaps of the year , love to hear your thought over the picture and video .
Great job!
Thanks, Stephanie!
Infinitely beautiful, infinitely exciting!! A true artist of nature. Congratulations and thanks.
I have enjoyed following you through 2018, and I look forward to seeing what develops in 2019. I really enjoy the variety of compositions and locations - but a consistent style. Excellent.
Your eye for composition, light and intimate landscapes, as well as your tasteful post-processing, are inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, George!
Love the pic at Yoho. I also could look at it for a very long time.
Adam, great to be part of your journey this year, can't wait for part two to complete it.
Thanks, Aad!
I never thought or cared much about Canada, I just knew it is a nice country, but since I started watching your vlogs and photos, I want to visit it badly. All the best in 2019, Adam.
Lots of room here for visitors, lol. cheers!

Thanks for stopping by Nick! Yep, it's been some time since I photographed a garden, kinda miss those times as well. Cheers!
Superb images Adam, the stacks at San Josef image is wonderful, almost otherworldly
Yourself and Gavin Hardcastle are by far the most under subscribed photographers on UA-cam.. As always, brilliant and informative content. I look forward to following your journey throughout 2019. Take care and Happy New Year..
Cheers, Davey! Happy New Year!
You are a great Person. Fantastic Images too. You deserve way more Subscribers! I really enjoy your Content Adam.
Incredible beautiful, just incredible beautiful drone videos and photos. Thank you very much, Adam!
Love the sand and sand dollar
Fantastiques photos Adam, not easy to choose I guess. Living in your country dont help ! A lot of incredible places you have near your shoes ... Vivement demain ! Merci.

Beautiful work Adam! I am always looking forward for your next video. It is good to see people with real passion for photography still exit:)
Most of us hackers would be happy with even one of these on our gallery.. as usual, love your understated presentation, well done!
Cheers, Robert!
Tremendous. Thanks for all your hard work over the year, I truly find your work inspirational. All the best for 2019.
Great year of great shots. Loved the sand dollar shot, very interesting that it really does look like pen and ink. Keep it up.
I disagree, your content isn't 'half-decent', it's more than decent. The footages are amazing and your photography is top class. Please keep going, happy new year and I wish you more subscribers, at the least triple the current numbers in the next 12 months! :)

Absolutely beautiful images! And I really love your cinematic style drone footage. It's really lovely to watch.

Well, it's hard to pick a favourite one. They are all so good Adam, and still there is a second part scheduled. My favourite so far: pick 3.
Thank you, Happy New Year!
Great list. I totally agree. Looking forward to Hornby 2019. All the best.
I love all the photos, but get to know that the sand dollar shot isn't a painting... mind blowing!!!

A wonderful journey I’ve been on with you. For me you have provided entertainment and quality viewing with amazing photography. What more could you want!! 😁👍
Cheers, Mali! I'll be coming over the pond again in May perhaps I'll have an opportunity to meet up again, cheers!
Adam That would be great! And I don’t think I’d be as star struck next time 😂 I’ll drop you a message, if you need any help, car journeys or to meet for some photography, just let me know 😊🙏
Beautiful Adam, all of them. Thanks for doing this.
I enjoy your videos and instruction immensely. Thank you for doing them for us. #6 is stunning! Leslie
Thank you, Leslie!
Some great photographs Adam and looking forward to part two, but some of your drone footage just blows me away! Found you through Fototripper and looking forward to going through previous videos.

Great stuff Adam and all the best for 2019.
Thanks, Ray! Happy New Year! I'll be in your neck of the woods this coming May. Never been to Scotland so I'm looking forward to the trip.
Adam your work is top notch, very inspiring. I look forward to your videos every week. Happy new year and all the best in the 2019
Thanks so much for the year of wonderful images and oh that drone work. Love the sand shot and the first image. Can't wait till tomorrow.
Cheers, Tom!
Love your work and this channel. Thanks for sharing your amazing work and awesome tips! P.s. screw the one person who down voted this video. 😁
Wow, speechless
Many thanks for sharing. Love the Yoho images. That area seems to have huge potential. Love the sand dollar image as well. Looking forward to part 2. Wishing you a hugely creative and successful 2019. Cheers
Thanks, Ash!

Cheers, Dave! Happy to see you back :-)

Thanks, John! Happy New Year!
Incredible work Adam. Love it. Looking forward to pt 2.
Cheers, Dan!
A lovely set of images in part 1, looking forward to seeing the rest of your picks tomorrow 😊
Thanks, Neil!
Well done Adam. Your work is truly inspiring. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for 2019!
Hey Mike, thanks, happy new year! albeit a bit belated, lol.
It is a tough nut to crack but if you can manage it and find a way to do it full time, go for it. Thanks, Karyleiana!
Fall is also my favorite time for landscapes. With that thought in mind, I look for other opportunities. I find cityscapes to be very rewarding. And of course, those images are less dependant on weather. I shoot a lot of night and first light images. Best wishes.
Beautiful photos Adam, the photography you produce always inspires me.Thank you for sharing and the best wishes for 2019!
Thanks, Michael! Happy New Year!
Adam, loved your photos this year. Watching your videos with a coffee has become a Saturday morning ritual for me!
Great! Thanks!
Happy New Year Adam, photos and memories to be proud of, looking foreword to part two.
All the best..........Peter.
Adam your photography and drone work is breathtaking! Subscribed. 👍🏼
Thanks, Shak!
Excellent picks so far. I love the contorted cedars and the last image from Yoho. Looking forward to tomorrow’s episode
Thanks, Jeremy! Happy New Year!
PERFECT JOBS! ADAM.
Many thanks Adam - a lovely set of images, and I learn heaps from your narrative for each one - Happy New Year
Adam, what a spectacular year! The images are just breathtaking and there are two that completely are captivating: the last image with the blue rocks and the San Joe stacks - simply incredible work
Happy New Year
Peter.
Thank you, Peter!
A great bunch of images, Adam! I'm looking forward to Part 2. I really like the intimate detail photographs, although the intimate details (revealed elsewhere) regarding your lens cloth were a bit much!
Haha, all in good fun. We had a good laugh that day. Cheers, Drake!
Great video. Nanaimo is my home town and seeing these images makes me homesick. Awesome job and can't wait for part 2. Happy new
Years.
Happy New Year!
Your content has been better than "half decent" Adam, it has been brilliant and inspirational my friend! Looking forward to more such adventures in great photography through the coming year. Greetings as always from Brisbane and Happy New Year :-))
Thanks, Kevin!
Cheers!
Thanks, Chris! Happy New Year!
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful, inspirational images. Wish you every success for 2019.
Thank you, Simon! Happy New Year!
Amazing work and beautiful images
Wonderful images. Love the concept of the sand dollar moon rising above the trees. That really does look like a sketch of trees. Awesome stuff. It needs to be in an art gallery. Mind you, so do the rest of the images as well. The secret location one is incredibly beautiful too. In fact, they are all incredible.
Thanks, Wendy!

Good stuff Adam... very inspirational...
Thanks for sharing...
well done! Happy NY and keep well.
Thanks, Alexander!! Happy New Year!
Love, love your work!
Thank you for sharing all your beautiful work with us.
Beautiful images with some great drone footage to compliment it Adam..Happy Christmas and New Year from the south east of the UK as well..
Cheers, Nigel! Happy New Year!
