A neighbor's pecan tree is bearing nuts. For weeks, it's been enjoyable to watch the squirrels use the power lines to safely retrieve the pecans and take the nuts back to the squirrels' stash.

It's interesting to see how they prefer walnuts so much over the other nuts. The winter is coming here in Finland and today I was watching a squirrel preparing for that by picking acorns from an oak on our backyard.

greetings from bay area in calif. i am also a squirrel feeder and am providing peanuts in shells and shelled walnuts. some prefer the peanuts and wont accept walnuts. there are a couple of nursing moms who wait for me early in the morning and come back rather late -- at sunset. of course our seasons are milder here but i still put out dried corn on cob for winter months. bless you for hosting this wonderful feast !!

That’s halrious. 1:24 I’ve never seen a squirrel try to take two shelled nuts before. Libra was trying to be like his relative the Chipmunk. You can literally see his thought process. “This Hazelnut is good, but this one is so much bigger.. eh I’ll just jam both in my mouth. Wait.. Hold up”. He definitely came back to take that walnut. He was to motivated.

Seeing all your visitors little faces when they were confronted with the feast was priceless 😂 Especially Pierce. He honestly looked stunned, like he was questioning how much he’d had to drink last night or if it was all some kind of trick. Then he just grabs a single almond to go & doesn’t come back until he’s had a quick lie down & some time to think.
Pierce is quite gentlemanly for a male squirrel, especially a (possibly) former Alpha. He just seems pretty chill with the idea of sharing. With the ladies at least… I suspect it’s just your calming influence rubbing off on him!

Pierce is a gentleman(gentle-squirrel) indeed. He always lets the female squirrels eat, but he chases the male squirrels away. 😄

Two squirrels were both wanting it all for themselves. But luckily one ran away, but comes back and sneaks one. I love watching them. ❤Growing up, my next door neighbor fed squirrels corn, etc. He could hand feed, as well. He’d let us kids sit on the front stoop near him as he did this. We really enjoyed watching the antics of the squirrels.
