He didn't invent duel spirits (they were a thing in Duel Monsters too, especially with the spirits of Kisara, Mana and Mahad in one of Seto's three Blue-Eyes White Dragons, Dark Magician Girl and Dark Magician respectively) and the DSOD disk is a hard counter to magic, it's not magic itself. Also DSOD is manga canon (and somehow Mahad's spirit was in two different cards).

All he needed next was to increase the average duelist duel spirit to summon them, which is why he founded duel academy. It manipulates brain waves to make the monsters be perceived as real ( that’s how BEUD was able to blow up a jet ). His tech has evolved to the point you can’t tell the difference.

He has experienced the supernatural multiple times, but the idea of being "chained" by events of ancient times is what annoys him.

That's how I always wrote him in my fanfics, mostly because I was of the opinion he denied magic because he was afraid of it, not because he genuinely didn't believe in it (he **knows** it's real, he's not dumb). After having his life get wrenched out of his control so many times as a kid of course he wasn't going to just accept something else he couldn't control. In a lot of my fics he's been hit over the head with the "magic is real, deal with it" stick enough times he's learned to accept magic **is** a thing, but he usually defaults to the mundane explanation first, since that's what he has the most understanding of (and most ability to do something about). Some of my AUs have him accept magic w/o too many questions at all - of course, most of those stories give him a slightly better home life, hence he's not as much of a control freak. Exhibit A: one where he's dating a modern day Kisara and his response to her confessing she's a magical girl is... to flatly tell her he recognized her immediately in magical girl form and thus knew all along, and from then on he acts as a kind of mission control for her and the other girls in her team - providing excuses when they have to ditch class for magical girl stuff, help with battle strategy, etc. He's worried about her, obviously, but he accepts that the magic is real pretty much immediately.

Remember that scene when Seto and Atem were dueling Dartz, and four Mirror Knight Tokens of the souls of people were on the field, and Seto seemed fine with having them attacked? It begs the question of what if one of those four was Mokuba? What if instead of Joey, Mai, Yugi, and Pegasus, it was Joey, Mai, Yugi, and Mokuba? For him to care about only himself and his brother, and no one else, that would probably one of the horrendous scenes in the show.
I love how Kaiba rejected magic in the whole anime, but after the end he created a School to study the monsters, the spirits and developed his own magic to conect the duelists through the time and dimensions. Its hard to take Yu-Gi-Oh! series seriously but if you apreciate how dumb it can be is bloody good and hilarious.
I will never forget how I fell in love with the priest Seto characterization. When I first read the Egyptians arc of the manga, I didn’t expect him to be so likable. How he stay loyal to the pharaoh, how he concede to his defeat or how he felt genuine remorse for what he inflicted to those prisoners. In the end, he was everything his descendants wasn’t, a likable human being that can learn from his mistakes.
In hindsight, I hate but also find hilarious how stubborn Kaiba was when it came to magic. All this stuff kept happening around him that’s unexplainable by normal conventions and he just kept standing his ground about how it was all bs

If it were me i wouldnt have let my brother die." (This was sub btw) And the guy is understandably flabbergasted.

I personally find it funny, but i also like the perspective of, "Yes, it COULD be magic. But there are other explanations thst it could also be. It doesn't always HAVE to be magic."
That's how I always wrote him in my fanfics, mostly because I was of the opinion he denied magic because he was afraid of it, not because he genuinely didn't believe in it (he **knows** it's real, he's not dumb). After having his life get wrenched out of his control so many times as a kid of course he wasn't going to just accept something else he couldn't control. In a lot of my fics he's been hit over the head with the "magic is real, deal with it" stick enough times he's learned to accept magic **is** a thing, but he usually defaults to the mundane explanation first, since that's what he has the most understanding of (and most ability to do something about). Some of my AUs have him accept magic w/o too many questions at all - of course, most of those stories give him a slightly better home life, hence he's not as much of a control freak. Exhibit A: one where he's dating a modern day Kisara and his response to her confessing she's a magical girl is... to flatly tell her he recognized her immediately in magical girl form and thus knew all along, and from then on he acts as a kind of mission control for her and the other girls in her team - providing excuses when they have to ditch class for magical girl stuff, help with battle strategy, etc. He's worried about her, obviously, but he accepts that the magic is real pretty much immediately.
What else could it be?

@@jetguy128 Sometimes I think that Seto's care and decency towards no one except himself and Mokuba was satire, given how irrational it was. Remember that scene when Seto and Atem were dueling Dartz, and four Mirror Knight Tokens of the souls of people were on the field, and Seto seemed fine with having them attacked? It begs the question of what if one of those four was Mokuba? What if instead of Joey, Mai, Yugi, and Pegasus, it was Joey, Mai, Yugi, and Mokuba? For him to care about only himself and his brother, and no one else, that would probably one of the horrendous scenes in the show.

I love how Kaiba rejected magic in the whole anime, but after the end he created a School to study the monsters, the spirits and developed his own magic to conect the duelists through the time and dimensions.
Its hard to take Yu-Gi-Oh! series seriously but if you apreciate how dumb it can be is bloody good and hilarious.
I will never forget how I fell in love with the priest Seto characterization. When I first read the Egyptians arc of the manga, I didn’t expect him to be so likable. How he stay loyal to the pharaoh, how he concede to his defeat or how he felt genuine remorse for what he inflicted to those prisoners. In the end, he was everything his descendants wasn’t, a likable human being that can learn from his mistakes.
In hindsight, I hate but also find hilarious how stubborn Kaiba was when it came to magic. All this stuff kept happening around him that’s unexplainable by normal conventions and he just kept standing his ground about how it was all bs
