  • Just sharing some thoughts and my first impressions review of my new SR Suntour SP12 ncx suspension seatpost. It's pretty awesome, maybe a little bit overhyped, but man it really does it's job very well. I can now comfortably keep my butt on my seat through almost my entire time riding the bike, only big bumps bug me now, everything else is no problem. Loving it so far, totally recommend ^^

After you use it for some time, put your regular non-suspension post back on and ride it. You will really see the difference it makes for the better....

Spring compression is definitely de-multiplied and progressive as a force. The travel of the suspension has nothing to do with the height of a sidewalk you are descending, so that explanation makes no sense.
The radial travel of the seat as the spring is compressed through the parallelogram design not only maintains a constant distance from your waist to the pedals as you mentioned (and that is a great advantage) it also transforms the absorption into a complete vertical component (unlike a simple spring which will always absorb some horizontally, unless the spike was mounted vertically, which never happens).
Add to that the fact that this design has no horizontal tilt and it's easy to understand why this construction is vastly superior to a simple spring one.

Timmy would highly recommend adding a nice thick gel seat to that equation. The SP12 is for the back and the gel seat is for butt. Happy riding!

The difference may have been more noticeable if fitted to thin high pressure tyres on skinny wheels.
That you can notice a positive difference even with your bike having phat tyres says a lot, I've ordered one of these seat posts hopefully arrives tomorrow.
    Good video review.

To be fair I do keep my tyres pumped up pretty high, but yeah It would be more useful with stiffer tyres. Just be careful with the height thing, those 4 inches have made it not as great for me v.v

@@gearedhub7223 I got the Seatpost gave it a try and love it on my skinny tyres hybrid, FAR more effective than padded underwear lol.
I am however a bit on the ample side so I've just bought the red strong replacement spring, I'll see how that goes when I get a chance.

I don’t follow why you needed to replace the saddle. Why not simply take the original saddle and mount it on this suspension seatpost? Am I missing something?

yeah, I wanted to put the suspension seatpost on my radrunner....the radrunner saddle is stuck on the seatpost....it can't be removed, idk why rad power bikes made it that way but that's how it is.

For me spring change to the soft one made huge difference. With mid it was noticeably underperforming under my 67 kg.

Nice video but have you tried the Kinekt suspension seat post???
Kinekt is a lot more money but might be better???

I'm gonna have to try that in the future. Need a shorter bike first, the extra 4 inches these seatposts add aren't great for me :(

Not sure WHY you think the Runnder is meant to be "pedaled". Where would you get this? There are tons of heavier bikes like the Radrover are fine pedaling.

could be the weight? They have 2 other springs that you have to buy separate. One is for light riders 120lbs, one is for big riders 180lbs, and it comes with the medium for riders around 150lbs.

Make sure it’s not mounted backwards, it won’t activate otherwise.
