For all who are interested. I do have two if this drives, one with a Samsung 990 pro 4 tb drive mounted. When using Samsung Magician the Acasis drive is detected, but not the Samsung 990 pro drive inside it. So you can never perform a firmware update on the Samsung ssd .

The exact same second m.2 drive I tested. I would 100% never do a firmware updated unless directly connected to PC, no matter the device. Thanks for sharing, I updated the firmware before I tested my 990 Pro 4TB.

Totally plug and play. When I connected when doing that fan noise test or any time I connected it instantly the drive letter showed up. It just works.
It works as simply as a thumb drive. I had my m.2 working as a storage drive already and also my Samsung 990 pro that I show was directly used in my computer already.
The Western Digital drive I purposely erased to a state like it had been a new device from the store. Under that situation like any other M.2 or Hard drive there is that one time setup required that I show in this video.

I'd have to disagree with the thermal pads. Seems that would just clog the airflow therebye erasing the point of the fan and so the entire point of the enclosure.
I'd actually be willing to guess this is the reason the enclosure is larger than the typical that use direct thermal transfer, after all more material is more cost and they always save every penny.

@@DoublePlus-Ungood the thermal pad I used has very effective heat transfer that makes the casing hot. Research and find for yourself that flash memory needs heat to function at proper speed BUT you are in part correct. If not having good or thick enough thermal pads or uncertain of quality you are indeed 100% better off not using them at all because yes as you mentioned it is going to impede air flow and cooling of the fan. Without the fan it becomes a bit of a hot box but the vents are certainly a plus. I hate the fan noise personally cause I love dead silence.

@@DoublePlus-Ungood the safe bet is to leave the air flow. A lot of m.2 drives have heat spreaders to help keep the NAND flash memory at the sweet spot for temps. Save money and don't worry about thermal pads, I like that advice.
Thank you for your view point.
