People say “for the money “ it’s best bushcraft/ do it all knife you can buy. I’ve owned several high end bushcraft knives. But honestly? It’s one of if not the best “fixed blade” knives ever made.
I agree that it’s a great knife when it comes to comfort and price. I also agree that it’s a very capable tool and can handle a lot of abuse. If this knife has a downside it would be the steel choice. I’ve never been a huge fan of 420HC. It’s edge holding capability is equal to 1095 but it’s harder to touch up in the field. But as with all knives, it has its strengths and weaknesses. Thanks for watching
Belt loop coming on, ridges being ground "off"! Did the same thing with mine except, for those two items on yours... Oh and the grind, I'm not that talented yet! GREAT VIDEO and thanks!!!
They are almost identical in blade shape and size. After playing with mine a bit I was able to find a spot where it will scrape a ferro rod as well. Thanks for watching
Awesome mods! It made the knife a much better carry! I've been trying to decide if I should buy one. I know where I can still buy one. I'm tempted even more by the fact they're discontinued.
Thank you. That’s a darn good question. I’ve thought about that several times and I’ve narrowed it down to 3. The ESEE-5, ESEE-6 or the Lt. Wright Bushcrafter. Each has it’s strong points. The ESEE-5 is a pure Beast! Tough as nails and can’t handle whatever you throw at it. The ESEE-6 is a good combination of strength and length. A good, well balanced knife. The Lt. Wright Bushcrafter because of it’s comfort and nimbleness. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching
Cool mods ! If one uses a leg strap , I would add a single leather tab to the bottom of the sheath to lessen the chance of bending the sheath and the blade poking out the face . If this knife is discontinued , reckon what what Gerber has in mind to fill that spot ? 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you sir. The sheath’s plastic is pretty rigid so I don’t think it will be needed but it’s a good idea. They replaced it with the strongarm from what I’ve read. Thanks for watching
Yeah the gerber sheaths are great and versatile, but too bulky! I love the retention snap on my strongarm, but i would like to cut everything else away like you've done.
You’re right they are but there’s a lot of extra stuff on them that’s not needed. Trimming it down changed the whole way it carries and rides. Thanks for watching
the mods you made make it look 100 times better, very nice 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you sir. Should make a big difference in how it carries. Thanks for watching

@@CentralKyBushcraft, it will also make it more versatile and adaptable !
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Keep up the great work !!!
I got the strong arm it has very similar blade design. It came with a sharp 90° spine. It will strike a rod and scrape tender.

Thanks brother. I think so too! The plain edge ones are getting hard to find here. Thanks for watching
Check out your local Wal-Mart they're about $62
They are not discontinued. Idk who keeps telling people that.
If you check their website the plain edge Prodigy has been discontinued, the only one they still offer is the partially serrated version.
@@CentralKyBushcraft they probably did that to up the sales of the new strongarm knives
Great job. It looks 100% better. When I win the knife, go ahead and re-sharpen it like yours. 😊
Thanks. I think it will make a big difference in how it carry’s. Lol. First things first. 😂 Thanks for watching

Hey how long did it take you to reprofile the edge to 20° on your prodigy?
It took a couple of hours to get it completely done. But it was worth it. Changed the performance of this blade completely. Thanks for watching
Cool
Thanks! And thanks for watching
Why didnt Gerber make it that way to begin with?!!
Who knows! Lol. Thanks for watching
