@@majestic6303 it makes them too mushy for me. You’re suppose to be able to eat mashed potatoes with a fork or spoon but sometimes milk can have those potatoes dripping right through the fork.
All the ingredients need to be warm when added to the potatoes so you don't make the potatoes gluey. Warm butter (not melted or the solids separate) first then warm cream cheese then I would fold the cream cheese in at the end.
Also, rinse and soak potatoes in cold water for about 30 mins then rinse a few times after soaking to remove as much starch as possible and that’ll also help eliminate the gluiness as well.
Way too much fat added... A thumb-sized chunk of butter and a shot of milk or cream would have been enough. Doing that and keeping out the cream cheese will make it look less like it was eaten at least once already
Cook your spuds in your IP or stove top with 1-2 C vegetable or chicken broth. When done, throw in 1 brick room temp cream cheese & 1-2 packets of ranch dressing mix. I use my hand mixer. Whip those bad boys up! You'll never go back.
@@TastesofLizzyT I reread that and it sounds sarcastic let's start over if on the inner top of the pot if you rub butter the water won't go past that point..if that makes sense
Too much milk and butter. I think golden potatoes make the best mash. They are less starchy. I used to put sour cream in mine but I changed to Fage 2% yogurt because I feel you get the same taste and it has more protein. I personally love garlic and green onions in my mash potatoes and they are so yummy that I don’t think gravy is needed but won’t be offended if you want it. Don’t forget a little bit of sea salt and pepper to taste. Everyone has their preference but I don’t think you need to make a couple of scoops of mash Potatoes into a 1000 cal dish. You can get that yummy taste for less. But again, everyone has their preference. I am sure grandma’s 😮family loves her mash potatoes
My MIL cooks very bland and this year she asked if I would have the honor to cook Thanksgiving dinner. One strange thing they do for Thanksgiving is make potato salad as a side, so this since I'm in the kitchen so my rules I made mashed potatoes. I added half a block of cream cheese, 1 stick of butter, about a tablespoon of sour cream and salt and pepper. I waited for to see their response after they took a taste of my mashed potatoes and they were wowed, never had they tasted so creamy potatoes with flavor. I wait until they finish their meal and recealed the ingredients and were floored. My husband and MIL said gad you'd told us what was in it we'd never tried it. They loved so much that I hosting Christmas dinner and yes one request is the mashed potatoes.
I now use gold and russet. Gold for creaminess and russet for texture.
Too much milk can ruin your potatoes. Had to learn that the hard way, now I just use butter, sea salt and few green onion slices if I’m feeling fancy.
I can't do mashed pot without heavy cream, it's just plain wrong.
So that’s the secret
😊So good

Should I peel first or soak first then peel?
@@skeloton56..Id like to know as well!
I tried this recipe it was AMASSING
I used this method and the mash potatoes were creamy and taste brilliant
Sour cream instead, yum!
Great idea!
Looks good! I use butter, sour cream, then salt, pepper, chives, and occasionally a dash of McIlhenny green hot sauce.
Wow lmao so bland need lots if butter and garlic flavor 😋
Need more potatoes with those butter and cream jesus
Omgosh those look amazing. I can’t wait for Thanksgiving dinner. My one cheat day so I’m gonna do some damage. 😂
My exact thoughts rn as I’m making it 😂
You gotta put the milk and butter in warm or it ruins it. That looks like whipped cream not mashed potatoes 😂
Just butter and whole milk works for me! But everyone has different taste 😋!
Cream cheese is crazy. Thats caucasian style though
@@wesfields9322 I like cream cheese in mine...I'm back🥲
I never tried putting cream cheese in my mashed potatoes so gonna try it now
Absolute game changer if I must say so myself!!!

That looks like cottage cheese but I bet it tastes great ❤

Can i use a hand blender for it?
Wat of sweet potato can dat b used
Fry some garlic in butter, once cooked on sim, add heavy cream and THEN add it to your potatoes with salt and pepper. Thank me later.
Does it work in a pan?
Now I use mayo, milk, butter , green onions or chives, salt n pepper. sometimes garlic powder, sour cream and cheese
Wrong! You should add HOT milk, not cold
Way too much fat added...
A thumb-sized chunk of butter and a shot of milk or cream would have been enough. Doing that and keeping out the cream cheese will make it look less like it was eaten at least once already
that is too bland. add more flavour… some people like it savoury.
That’s how they look their best
I wouldn’t do this all the time bc of the richness
Tip add a spoonful of Mayo to make it super creamy and whiter. You’ll never taste the Mayo I promise

When you say ranch mix, do you mean powdered or liquid like the dressing?
@@chrysalissanchez1415 Good question! Powdered!
Where’s the seasoning? In the store 😂
......no seasoning, garlic, nothing?? I'll pass
The ending was sus
Thats what she said 😅
Cream cheese…
Wtf…
😂😂😂😂😂😂
This did not taste good
What made it taste bad? What did it taste like?
@@arturo_guillen bro it looks like cottage cheese
it def tasted good if they used enough salt. and add garlic my lordt!
Butter on the edge of the pot works better than a wooden spoon which serves no purpose
ok thanks :)

Using a potato mashed will make them gluey use a mesh strainer and a spoon instead
A ricer works great too!

I used a whisk for my mashed potatoes they turned into cake batter 😢

Ohh
"Cool until tender"...hm???
Maybe you could change the recipe if you would want to change the recipe try 101 tasty’s recipe for mashed potatos❤
• too much water absorbed
• no seasoning
• less is more with the cream & butter
• mixed in cold ingredients
Glue. They made glue.

Red potatoes are superior. Source: Idahoan
In this case the source does not add credibility due to the absurdity of the statement.
But not the best for mashed potatoes. Reds are better when you need a firm potato.
No.
Not for me I’m afraid
