The overall story being praised is going to make me play this game. I'm starved for interesting stories in games.
I agree when the actual story is part of the recommendation you can forgive a few bugs.
The story sucked
@@cryptofud3161 care to elaborate?
That is why I said "overall story" and "interesting stories". I can endure bad writing, or even a bad story. I just need and interesting one. I'm sick of cliche worlds and stories out there
The story is great
I loved Mutant Year Zero up until it’s gameplay started to feel too much like a puzzle, so the improvements to combat is definitely what I mainly needed for this game
Yeah, I noped out of the game after it became wildly obvious how little there was to do and how on-rails it was. I can't even remember all my gripes, but my disappointment was vast, as I was really into it for a good few hours. Not sure if I want to experience that again with another game of theirs...
But I see there isn't much gameplay improvement here, there is even less silent weapons and character development is quite similar.
@@esaedvik I enjoyed MYZ, you have to love tactical strategy games to actually appreciate it and I love ‘em, even bought midnight suns and phantom doctrine, haven’t bought miasma yet but when I can I will
When I started Mutant Year Zero I was confused as to how to beat the fights. All characters die so easily until I watched a UA-cam video where I learned what the game failed to teach... you need to weed out as many single enemies as you can as silently as possible, and then when its time to deal with the bigger group in the stage you have to surprise attack them as hard as possible, which makes the game less "Tactical" in feel but more like a "Puzzle" game since there are limited ways to deal with situations. Especially since a "normal shootout" with tactical positioning is only really used for the bigger groups found in the stages.
All three games from The Bearded Ladies feel more akin to games like Commandos, Desperados or Shadow Tactics but with turn based combat instead of the RTS one. Which is fine for the most part, as there is no other game I know off that is like this. Though I would have wished more possibility when it comes to how you want to play, it is a little bit to narrow for my taste.
At least the ending in Miasma Chronicles is not to sucky.
Although there's a formulaic nature to it, I'm still amazed by how fast you 100% new releases.
I just assume he doesn’t sleep.
They crack the game.
complete campaign = 100%
@@Lakersfan-yt4ok what :D no
Drugs 😂😂😂
Great review. Love the clearly marked chapters. You've done well to cover these topics without belaboring the points or forcing in meme jokes. I'll be back to your channel for sure.
This is my first game of this kind and I was getting my ass handed to me. I am grateful for the story mode! Great review btw!! The world is indeed very interesting.
Man thanks so much for your reviews. Not just this one but all the ones you’ve made. I felt like commenting to let you know
Picked this one up shortly before you announced you’d be reviewing it :) excited for this review
Your reviews are great. Been watching this, W2 and W3 and i like how you do these videos. Youve earned a sub!
It just dropped for free on PS plus so I just had to watch some reviews and damn am I excited to get started later
Awesome! Been eyeing this in the shop the last few days, I’m glad it’s as awesome as it looks.
This is the first video I watched in your channel and I insta subbed. Thanks for giving reviews after completing the game. So many "reviewers" out there give reviews when they themselves haven't finished the game
I've put in a few hours and you're absolutely right about the world and story being really interesting. I loved Mutant Year Zero so I've been having a blast with this one. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for all your hard work man. Thorough as usual.
Morti gives 100% effort on these reviews, and mate... we appreciate it.
That was fast man! I just watched your other review posted yesterday lol
Hi Mortym ! Recently discovered your channel and hugely appreciate your previews and 100% reviews. I was a huge fan of mutant year zero. The voice acting from the 2 leads despite not using big names was amazing. I bought this game right away after seeing your preview. Get tiger tough Mortym and long may you play games till you achieve the greatness that is due to you !
So far I fucking love this game. It has been such a wonderful surprise find for me.
Thanks for the steam deck section. Don’t know if I’ve noticed that in your other videos but I really appreciate it. That’s where I want to play games like this so I’ll be waiting until they fix it.
Another great review as always!
Hi Mortym! Thanks for another stellar review!
Thx for the review. For me, Mutant Year Zero was a hidden gem so I'm really looking forward to try this one out.
Great review, thanks! I was looking for a non-spoiler review that still managed to be balanced and comprehensive. That seems to be your brand. 🙂
Wow you're quick! I'll watch the video after ive finished the game.
Thanks for this, it was hard to find any detailed reviews on the game, seems it slipped under the radar for a lot of outlets.
After so many 100% i think it is my turn to comment about it. It is definitely not an easy feat! Keep up the good work!! I know its not easy.. definitely impressed with how you keep doing it. I would love to see how your screen looks like with all achievements completed etc
Hello, after yesterday patch abilities cooldown resets after every battle on normal and narrative difficulties. They also reset after an ambush, so it makes ambushes a bit easier so you can use special ammo in an ambush.
It’s on sale for €30 now on PS5. I’ve never really played trpg’s but this one spikes my interest after playing Aliens Dark Descent.
Also try shadow tactics blade of the shogun, desperados 3 and mutant year zero, they totally got me into these types of games.
Not usually one for tbs games, but I bought this after your first impressions and I'm truly enjoying it so far.
Great review. Thank you 👍
Bought it on sale on impulse. I dont regret it one bit...loving every minute of it so far
Can't wait to dive into this one. Thanks Mort!
I'm enjoying the game so far. I was a fan of MY0 so makes sense that I will like this one as well.
This looks quite fun, actually. Great review :)
Can't wait to play it,but I'm waiting for sale. Great review
Looks like fun. I'll have to keep an eye on this one for when i have some time for a new game
I like the design of the lead character and the overall look of the game.
Thank you for another great review!
Another banger ! Thanks brother. Saved me $50 !
“…and then late on my second playthrough…” is a snippet of a casually delivered sentence that clearly demonstrates the invaluable nature of your work, Mort.
You’re one of the best and I hope you keep right on keeping on Brother🤓😁👍
Thanks for not spoiling the story. I'm enjoying it and I'm not as speedy as you.
I just finished it myself as well! Can't wait to hear your opinion on this one
Sounds cool, how difficult are alpha Editors and full tactical difficulty together at Same time? Im in need of a challenge, but i cant Seem to find appropriate information
@@Darkbreezee I haven't tried Alpha editor i played the 2nd to the highest difficultly and its only difficult in the beginning.
@@DerKrazyKrautGaming thanks Mate :)
Good review, thank you!
I like this game, it's a pretty decent TRPG with interesting characters. It can be a bit demanding though. I did a benchmark of it on a pretty high end build but that's with everything set to Epic. It does offer FSR as well for less capable rigs. I just feel its a bit steep at $50 although I do believe there's a sale going on at GMG at the minute.
Can't wait to play it, thanks!
P.S. I gave up smoking 12 years ago but on very rare occasions I get a sudden urge for a smoke, it passes fast but I just got one right now.
I kept watching and then I realised!
In this game the health bars get to a point where the Orange and white portions look exactly like cigarettes.
I’m a suggestable fool!
Fast as ever😉 Good show sir
Definitely checking this out!
Diablo 4 - * releases *
Mortismal 37 min later- "HERE IS MY 100% REVIEW OF DIABLO 4"
Sounds like a fun time, especially on the lower difficulties.
been waiting for this one
Interesting title, might check it out!
Wow awesome, didnt knew this game was out there, just right now enjoing Othercide thanks to you.
Are u only 1 person or u work as a team, i just realized...this channel does a far better job then the whole ign channel...and that is a few people i think :P
It's just me
Playing demo. Its awesome. Picking it up
Love your reviews! Random-ish question. Have you ever reviewed/played Bug Fables?
Can't say I have
hi man, I was intrigued by this game. Never played MYZ tho. Anyway I am trophy hunter like you and even though this video gave me some tips for Alpha Editor I think it would be great if you did a video with tips and tricks to finish this game on that difficulty.
Thanks
I'm loving Gears Tactics. Hope you review it.
this guy is a damn good reviewer
Best in the business for sure!
Bought this game during the winter sale and got hooked. Really recommended if you can get the game on sale.
That’s definitely me cup of tea
I agree with a lot what was said. The story was top notch, the voice actors were above average, Diggs VA was brilliant. Combat was solid, ambushes were annoying especially when they go first. Currently on my 2nd playthrough alpha full tactical, is difficult but wouldn't advice without playing game first. Shotgun+range+crit mod is godly weapon.
next to Mandalore Gaming, Mortem is my favorite game reviewer. This stuff is awesome
Just bought this game on cyber Monday for $15 on ps5. I generally prefer playing crpg’s on pc. I think my copy of Mutant Year Zero is on steam, and I adored it, but it had so many spots that needed improvement. I’m going to start once I finish Neir Automata (finally got to that one lol)
hi, did you do anything special to get Attenborough - Unlock all enemy codex entries. and Bookworm - Complete the codex.? As I noticed you got it after finishing game for the first time. Actually good amount of hours after.
Thanks
How It compares to Showgunners?
I don't normally enjoy TRPGs much and the combat part of these games is usually my downfall. Still I bought this game and I am enjoying it. After a lot of struggling with combat, I had to use the narrative difficulty to have even a reasonable chance to succeed in combat. I do like the exploration of the game world and story so far. Like most game I play, the one thing I'd like to see is the ability to enlarge the text especially in a game that requires this much reading
Has anyone ever told you you sound like “retro game corps” on UA-cam?
Anyway - thank you for highlighting these types of games. Definitely genres and titles I would have overlooked otherwise
Not gonna lie, I’m actually pretty obsessed with this game right now
Do you 100% all yourself or u have a team ? As i'm amazed at the rate and high level of the reviews
It's just me, this is pretty much all I do
nice review thx
This has just appeared on an Xbox sale. I’ve been on the fence about it but after watching your amazing, in depth review.. I’m definitely purchasing.
🔥
Hi Mortismal - I'm looking to get into this type of game, is there any other that you'd recommend?
Wasteland 3
Morti, what is the score in the very beginning of the vid?
These guys need to be contracted to do a faithful remake of Fallout 1
ty for the review. the bearded ladies know how to take an interesting story, pair it with great visuals, and then ruin the experience with “tactical” gameplay that rewards a single solution (like a puzzle) to every encounter
Best x-com like game i have played in recent years
Man, I am really glad I decided to watch this or I would've completely missed this title. As much as I love RPGs, I am not always in the mood and I haven't found any of the new releases to be all that interesting to try out. With a generic title like "Miasma Chronicles", I figure it would be more of the same and passed on the first impressions. Despite being short and the story leaving with a cliffhanger, I enjoyed it quite a bit but besides revisiting WL3 at some point, I don't have anything else with similar gameplay in my backlog. I have replayed the xcom series way too many times that it has begun to feel very ripe so this game's existence is very timely. Since I already have committed to other titles on my backlog, I don't have any plans to get it anytime soon. I will wait for it to get patched up and let the devs release any future DLCs they may have planed and nab it all on some sort of a discount bundle. It was more important to be aware of the game's existence than owning it right away so thanks for taking the time to a deep dive. I liked what I saw and your feedback seals the deal of this game being an eventual title to look forward to.
My complaint with MY0 and similar titles is that they make combat finite. When you do that, you book end the game, and that always makes the title more linear. The RPG component of TRPGs should not be ignored. I want to play/make a character as I see fit. Onward to 200k. All glory to the algorithm.
What is RPG component of "TRPG"?
@Mortismal Have you had any issues with the bot whisperer achievement? I'm playing on ps5, in the Breakfast club I can't talk to the ancient bot
No I didn't have any issues with it
Met an annoying bug when fighting the tree monster at the mine, one of them summon sapling UNDER one of the miasma pillar. the sapling cannot be shot nor it can attack me, only grenade can damage it.
Steam reviews had a lot of negativity so was reluctant to get it but after watching this i think I will. Thanks
26:57 What do you mean, "you people"? Good review and video👍
I'm kind of curious which keypad one Mort struggled with. As someone who just reached the 2nd town, I've figured out all of the kypad puzzles except the colored toy trucks one.
It was the toy trucks yeah
ty for review, i wish you would have specified how much game play vs replayability there was.
So real quick, you mentioned how ambushes were particularly challenging in you "most difficult games" video. Do you find this is the case on more normal difficulties?
Nah not the kind of thing you'd expect from normal
sold, nice one
i hope major tomcat is in this game. loved that little sidekick from wasteland 3 lol!
Looks like a good choice if I like Mutant year 0, which I still have to try. The price is a bit steep, though.
Mutant year zero is usually on sale now
On sale 25 right now for like three days
This is Mutant year Zero at its core. I LOVE IT ! Also at the present date the game is on a 40% sale.
I think that selling weapons in the stores adds to the "realistic feel" of the game... Like set dressing.
i used grenades on barrels all the time and the game never crashed for me
I have enjoyed Mutant Year Zero, so I will get it for sure. However, I will most likely wait till they announce last DLC ^_^
I just cant play TRPGs man it has never been in my tastes being a gamer since 2006 but i like watchin your takes man, you are a very consumer centric fella.
I kind of wish you got more XP from combat, because I enjoy interesting turn based combat...And would like more incentive to engage with it.
Just noticed that I have Mutant Year Zero. Was free on Epic a while back, and I grabbed it. Probably should check it out first.
this game looks quite beautiful. and i liked mutant zero
The game looks really good and I like the setting, any idea why it is getting worse reviews (both critics and Steam users) than Mutant Year Zero ?
Just completed this game on pc.
Great story, characters, great mix of turn based combat, with good stealth mechanics.
Shame you cant be more than 3 people in the squad, and getting medipods, powercells and other supplies can be a bit cumbersome.
8/10
I got 37 hours out of it, played it on normal with old school turn based mode.
Love this game as much as i loved Mutant Zero and 1987
14:50 Yeah, Mutant Year Zero was a funny game for some time, but after a while it became tedious. You didn't need to save scum in MYZ, but it was tedious to figure out what strategy works and for that you might to reload a few times.
Please Review The Last Spell 🔥. Thank You ❤
