As a grown man, I have no shame in admitting that Sailor Moon was my first, true foray into anime in the 90's. The DiC dub is forever one of my favorites and brings so many memories.

The nostalgia hits with the beginning 🎸but when it solo’s with those backgrounds ending with the Negaverse-this intro is iconic.

@@emitought97 I think any DVDs of the DIC dub are long out of print and that version is pretty unlikely to be rereleased in any official capacity.

@@PAINNN666 No, OG does not have better instrumentals. The guitar solo alone in the DiC version alone beats the Japanese version's instrumentals. What the Japanese version has better is the lyrics and the singing.

As someone who's watched the entire Sub/Half of Viz English vs sporadic DIC I actually prefer this theme so much more than the Japanese, the sound effects and changes made here feel so much more better than the Japanese version
I have been genuinely disappointed watching more accurate redubs of 90s anime, where they don't swap out the music, because that old live instruments stuff is kind of corny. Synths forever
The DiC dub soundtrack smokes the Japanese soundtrack in my book.

The very first anime i ever laid eyes on. I was 15 years old way back in 98' visiting in hot a** Nevada. (Yeah im hella old) but back to the point: I knew it wasnt American animation, and I was like this is so different.. more of this please.

Same here. I don't care what people say, sure the dic version may have censored some scenes and the dialogue may be cheesy but that's why i like it, i grew up with this version, i prefer this one than the viz redub 😄

My sister and i used to sing along to this everyday. This show was a core of our group of friends. I really miss this even though it didnt follow the manga properly. 90s animation for anime was great. (As much as i loooove demon slayers animation i still miss the old school ways)

I used to not mention watching this on fox kids to the other lads at school as i thought it was a guilty pleasure a pleasure i haven't grown out of still as good now as it was as a kid growing up in the 90s
I remember having to wake up extra early before school in the 90s to watch this.
This theme song had no business being this good
I struggled with my sorta innate feminine sensibilities and interest in girl stuff as a boy born in the early 90s. My folks were pretty supportive but there was this sorta unspoken understanding that I should keep that side of me private, unless I wanted to always feel like an outcast/maintain a degree of confidence I really didn't have at the time. This show was such a nice refuge from all of that, where girls got to be cute but also badass, while the guys could look more androgynous and be 'mysterious'. Everything about it felt like a breath of fresh air for kid me. I wonder how many hours of my youth were spent daydreaming about OCs or other characters having elaborate sailor moon-esque transformation sequences.
What you described is exactly why Sailor Jupiter has always been my favorite. As a kid, I always thought she was pretty and cool, but I always felt a kinship with her, too.
This was the second anime I experienced. Astro boy was the first (80's) dub in 1991 repeats, then Sailor Moon in 1996 I believe. Then my big favourite, DBZ in 1999.
Viz will forever be better then the DIC due to it sticking to the original, but I gotta give it to DIC...it has some good music.
That's not really an accomplishment. Viz is modern and supposed to be better. and yet no one cares to talk about it as much as this one.

My daughter is just getting into sailor Moon. they have released a new dub which is much better than the original dub but they decided to go with the Japanese opening which i get. but god that I need to hear this. this is the one I grew up with lol

The nostalgia this op brings me hits me like a truck 😂 I only had one vhs of this from ages 3-10, so for SEVEN years I watched the same two episodes, thinking critically and analyzing every detail to try to get an idea of the entire canon until my cousins handed down their tapes to me lol
I never watched the series, nor would I ever. But I have to admit, whoever composed the intro is a musical genius!

God i have so many good memories of this opening. But what i love the most is they kept the sequence featuring Queen Beryl in the same part of the song in both sub and dubbed versions. They knew that part was badass and i love that they kept it

I never knew the opening is different in other languages I only know the Dutch version and today I found out it was based of the German version. It has happy hardcore elements in it which I think is awesome

The show started airing during the morning cartoons right when I started high school without any of my primary school friends.
