I've lost it now and can't find that particular thread, have you spotted it ? Can you believe it ? India and Nepal have about as open a relationship as 2 sovereign nations could get and that includes New Zealand and Australia, Ireland and Britain. Pakistan sanctions and accommodates terrorists who attack India's cities to the extent that India has had to to make incursion into Pakistan to protect itself. China ? Ask the families of the 20 unarmed Indian soldiers on the 'disputed' border between them. Britain ? a major contributor to India by its foreign aid budget, a massive immigrant recipient, it's Home Secretary is Priti Patel ? So India is happy to co operate with Britain but remains cautious of its neighbours, China and Pakistan, surprise, surprise. It isn't 'Western' countries which are racist, it's countries like CCP led Han obsessed China and Japan which won't even take in Korean immigrants. Who was the last Chinese or Japanese Home Secretary equivalent ?e Do you think she might be a Pinky ?

      Respect is earned, and anyone who believes that China under Xi deserves respect is a fool. It deserves utter and complete contempt.
      I don't begrudge the Chinese people trying to raise their standard of living but when it comes from complete theft that is contemptible. China has prospered because the west has undercut it's own values and moved it's industrial base there, where the Chinese stole or copied all the intellectual property. China was a backward backwater before the west invested there, it has created very little on it's own so far. It's amazing how China's military jets are complete clones of western jets and came out of nowhere. From zero aviation industry to cutting edge stealth fighters - yeah sure China developed that itself. And pigs can fly too.

Western Countries, assuming you mean Western Europe, Northern America and Australasia, have not only listened to the rest of the World but have done all they can to improve the lot of the impoverished of Asia and Africa. They accept refugees from the excesses of the leaders of the various of Asian and African countries. The World is awash with refugees from poverty, terror, discrimination, persecution. NONE of those refugees are from western countries. Doesn't that tell you something ? Lets look at the numbers.
    01. USA debt right now is 27.8 trillion. In the USA, experts predict the debt of the USA will be five times its economy by 2070 and that is a conservative estimation. So for example, if the USA economy is 50 trillion by 2070 its debt will be 250 trillion. How are you going to grow?
    02. China will have about 600 to 800 million middle class - a huge consumer base in 10 years.
    03. China is finally opening its financial markets to the world - a 45 trillion financial market and could be 80-100 trillion by 2030.
    04. China's economy is to surpass the USA in 6 years at the quickest or 8 years at a conservative rate. But more importantly, its PPP will double the USA which just means its purchasing power will double the USA. Its economy is already bigger than the USA since 2014 by PPP terms.
    What does that mean (PPP)?
    If you extract the price based on the living costs in each country and give USA a value of 1, then here are the numbers.
    GDP For 2019
    USA = 21.7 trillion
    China = 14.7 trillion
    PPP for 2019
    USA = 21.7 trillion
    China = 27.1 trillion
    It just basically means that based on the living costs in China overall and if the Chinese RMB is given the ratio to the dollar based on the prices in China, the Chinese economy would be worth 27.1 trillion. It means 1 dollar in China goes way further than in the USA under normal circumstances.
    Top 4 economies by GDP - 2019
    01. USA
    02. China
    03. Japan
    04. India
    Top 4 economies by PPP - 2019
    01. China
    02. USA
    03. India
    04. Japan
    05. China has 7-8 of the world's largest bank - USA has 1.
    06. China has 3.4 trillion in reserves - USA has none (living on printed money)
    07. China has the most trading partners.
    08. Chinese has the most companies in the top 500 in the world.
    Four main things China is going to really concentrate on even though there are hundreds.
    01. Poverty Alleviation - Based on the UN standard for poverty alleviation China has successfully raised over 800 million Chinese out of poverty in the end of 2020 - a journey of 40 years . More people with money means stronger country.
    02. Technology leader by 2025 in core technologies and more after that.
    03. Most powerful military - by 2035 China will be the number 1 military power.
    04. BSN - the Blockchain System Network - The number one goal of this system is to replace the dollar as the world reserve currency, therefore, ending the dominance of the dollar and the final dagger in the USA. This will end the printing of money by USA whenever it wanted. The Swift system for international trade controlled by the USA will be reduce significantly - reducing the power of the dollar.
    Like Elon Musk said, China will be at least twice the USA economy but it can be four times bigger. The gap is too big for the USA to overcome.
    Get use to the original order of dominance - China and India number 1 and 2 by 2050.
    By 2050
    China economy = USA + EU + Canada + UK + Australia
    China/India = 46-50% of total World GDP
    We are going back to history. Lets face it. whether you believe or not or like it or not its not going to change history.
    GET USE TO A NEW WORLD ORDER SOON (10 YEARS).

    it has more to do with Australia interpretation of Chinese interest. Australia and China does not have a direct border, Australia's border are with ASEAN, and if one see the future projection of growth, it is very likely ASEAN would be more important than Australia. and if China become the hegemon of the region, by no ill will of China, China will likely side with ASEAN in any disagreemment since ASEAN is more important economically then Australia... so Australia believe their interest would be sideline in an Asia Pacific that is Asia centric. so they are really creating this problem to push US toward confrontation with China so they would at least have US as a backer.
    China understand this, which is why they choose to punish Australia.

      @@ronniechew6566 Greetings, fellow Commonwealthian, a response to the level I'd have expected had I known
      That’s globalisation. The same thing happened to Japan after WW11. It prospered because it offered cheap labour and was sponsored by the US. In the 1960s, Japan was Australia’s biggest trading partner. The cost of living in Japan reached Western proportions, it could not maintain the cheap labour advantage so it moved its industry into South East Asia and became more service oriented. I would ordinarily expect that China will do the same but its authoritarian government, confrontational attitude and sheer size of population are something I’ve never seen before.
      I’m keeping out of Communism/Socialism v Capitalism and Racism. Nobody wins those debates, let alone converts.

      Don’t be too hard on the US. Europe, Asia, northern Africa were a mess in 1946. The 2 Americas and Australia were virtually untouched The (North) Americans had been drawn into 2 World Wars in the previous 25 years, they didn’t want a third so they occupied both Germany (which they should have done after WW1) and Japan, installed democratic governments, ensured their prosperity. Put aside your chauvinism (i e leave China out), both now respectively dominate Europe and Asia economically and politically and both are forces for peace in their regions. The US doesn’t start wars, it enters into wars because it has so many allies and an inclination to defend those who can’t defend themselves. North Korea and North Vietnam invaded, the Balkans went to war among themselves until NATO, really US and UK, intervened, Iraq and Afghanistan were errors, shouldn’t have but part of their motivation was to protect civilians against extreme Islamic groups, ditto Somalia, how could you let that level of genocide continue ?

      @@charttrakarn3438 Fair answer, Chart, if I may presume to use your first name. Singapore is a City-State that I admire, it straddles a fine line between accomadation with an oppressive, potential invader and the status of the invaded, it will follow Taiwan. There's lots I don't admire about Singapore, its authoritarianism, but I live where Singapore's tensions are academic. for mine, Kishore is far too anti US in the way he expresses himself. He speaks of CCP led china as deserving of understanding then of the US and being ignorant of Asian sensibilities, boorish and on a downward path, economically. By so doing, he justifies the false proposition that the US and other western countries oppress China, when, they, particularly the US, endorse and trade with China. The US freed China from Japanese rule and actively promote Chinese economic advancement. Kishore justifies Chinese aggression instead of promoting peaceful engagement. From a Singaporean point of view, I concede his eloquence and exposure but from the World's perspective, he's a danger to peace.

      I believe Dr. Kishore Mahbubani has been trying to be the bridge of understanding between China and the West, nothing else.
      In fact, China has been good and loyal ally of the US, except during the Korean War.
      Even during the Vietnam War, China was secret ally of the US fighting against Soviet Unions and her ally, North Vietnam.
      In 1978, when the US suddenly changed her foreign policy against China, China was shocked and many US College Alumni could not believe it. Because both China and her people looked at US as their leader that they owned so much and did not forget.
      The voice from China, no matter how they had tried to call for continuing friendship had been ignored and getting more hostile instead.
      You can see a lot of Fake News, accusations starting from Hong Kong, Tibet and Xinjiang. Together with all kinds of Propaganda and all Armadas from the West intimidate China regularly in South China Sea.
      Another thing is Corvid-19 that happened in Wuhan, but did not originate in Wuhan.
      When it first happened, the Japanese doctor and Taiwanese doctors came out and defended China. They said it happened in Wuhan, China but did not originate in China.
      Later on, the US CDC Director, Washington DC., Robert A. Redfield, MD.
      gave a testify to the Senate on March 20, 2020, the Senate Members asked him “ in Spring of 2019, there were over 20,000 deaths from Flu and respiratory related disease in Maryland, N. Carolina and Virginia, could some of those died from Corvid-19?
      His answer is Yes.
      The first victim of Corvid-19 in Wuhan, China happened in December 2020, 9-10 months after the US. The recent investigation in Wuhan by the WHO team has not concluded yet, but the US and her allies already beat the drum.
      At the end, Dr. Kishore Mahbubani just tries his best to smooth the misunderstanding between China and the US plus.
      Will anyone accept it, that is another story?

    As a Chinese, I don't logically get why the century of humiliation from 1840s to 1940s has to stand out in Chinese history. Was it really worse than the Manchu invasion, the Mongol invasion, and many other devastating internal turmoils that wiped out majority of the population in Chinese history.
    I honestly think that was also the century of enlightenment, for both capitalism and communism.
    The whole world is now on equal footing in terms of modern science and technology. And China is holding an edge over other countries including the US in terms of average IQ and work ethics of its population.

If one day China should change her color and turn into a superpower, if she too should play the tyrant in the world, and everywhere subject others to her bullying, aggression and exploitation, the people of the world should identify her as social-imperialist, expose it, oppose it and work together with the Chinese people to overthrow".

US, Australia, Britain, French, Germany joined with Japan and send the warships to Chinese doorstep to say "Hello" to Chinese people and show their muscles with a joint naval exercise these couple of weeks (02/2021 - 03/2021). New humiliation ? What is the old humiliation ? If you are talking about occupation, then isn't the only humiliation that of occupation by Japan (and Mongolia but that's a different story) ? 'Century of humiliation' is an invention of the CCP to trick the citizens of China to overlook its perfidy. The US does not claim The Atlantic or the Pacific Oceans as its own. Australia does not claim the Pacific or the Indian Oceans as its own. Britain does not claim the Atlantic as its own. None of Germany, France or Japan claim any seaway as their own. All want free and unimpeded oceans for passage by the world's citizens, including CCP led China. None are threatening wars, none say 'make xxxxxx an enemy and xxxx will be your enemy. None are saying "...won't come peacefully and smoothly."

      @Vin Ryan Let me hazard to reply you on this most famously known "Century of humiliation" narrative. This narrative was so widely accepted even within the high officials of Singapura Foreign Affairs Ministry. That the so-called "Humiliation" inflicted on the Qing Dynasty during the ransacked of the Yuan Ming Yuen is purely a superior Western Allied forces against a weak Qing Army. The reality is the opposite. But they conveniently twist the narrative around and play victim until today. Just like those BLM and leftist playing victim role in US.
      With the "seed" planted into the minds of every generation of mainland China no wonder hatred and envy against Western nations is ingrained into thier mind. All verbal outward pleasantries can never hide their true emotion.
