Hi Karen I want to say thank you for demonstrating the dryer sheet technique that we don’t have to use all dryer sheets I also use the one that has smell on it and it works just fine thanks again God bless you
Thank you for the tip. I ran my dryer sheets through the machine to press them together before using the dies, and I think that helped. I appreciate this tutorial, Karen, and any other tips and hints that experienced crafters are willing to share!
Great Tip! I used the dryer sheet method recently when cutting 45 intricate Memory Box snowflake arch dies. They cut out beautifully! No paper left inside the die. I was able to lift the die cut off the dryer sheet as if it was a sticker. It drastically cut down the time I spent die cutting. I used the ones I had on hand with a fragrance. They did leave a fragrance behind. I left them out overnight before packaging them for my clients. The next day I bought unscented dryer sheets. They still have a very slight fragrance. I recommend leaving them out overnight to air out. Thank You, Karen!
Thank you, Karen, this tip may just save my sanity!! I have roughly 50 Doiley dies to cut for a batch of wedding evening party invites & after two attempts I've been so frustrated. Now I need to find such items here in the UK!
I was in the middle of cutting one of Karen's intricate frame dies and was getting so frustrated picking out all the confetti until I saw this video. It's 1:00am so no running to the store. I remembered that I have been saving USED Bounce dryer sheets for other things, and tried them for this. Once used, they are no longer greasy but they have shrunk a lot. I had to stack 8 sheets because they were small and trim the edges to go through the Big Shot but they worked fabulously! Wonderful tip! I love my die again!
Thank you for making a short, detailed video on this! I gave been wanting to learn about this technique but don't have 20 minutes to sit through a video. This was perfect!
Tried it. LOVE IT! I have unscented cheap dryer sheets. Works every time. I use them while I'm cutting. I don't need to do the second step. Those fussy dies I used to hate, I now love again!!! Thanks for sharing. No film or sticky on my paper, hands or dies.
I absolutely love this idea. This will save me a lot of time. Quite often if if I do 'pick' the excess out of the die I end up tearing what I wanted to keep. Dollar store, here I come. Thanks so much, Karen.
I am so excited. I watched this yesterday. Today I was about to use a sbndrs thin die and remembered this tip. I stopped and got 3 bounce sheets and did the tip. WONDERFUL! You saved me soooo much time. The cuts just FELL out of the die. I did NOT have to poke at all. Thanks so much. I will be following you from now on!
Bernice, you just answered my question. She said fragrance free and cheap but all I have is Bounce. I am home bound so don't get to just "run" to the dollar store. I am working on some intricate Sbndrs thin dies as I am typing (Picking out wax paper.) Thank you....And THANK YOU KAREN...I am glad I found you today!!!!
Oh dear.. Thank you so MUCH for your fast and friendly helpful reply !!!!! Gosh do I love internet !!!! Thanks a lot. I will have a look in Mercadona ASAP. Love your tip and sure I will enjoy my future die cutting much more !!!! Hugs from Monica
Hi again Karen... WOW ~~ what a fun and useful tip ~~ soooooooooooooo much time is wasted trying to get out the little bits... Is the paper greasy at all after using the dryer sheets...you said it was coated...also does the adhesive or liquid glue adhere perfectly... Thank you so much for staring this fun tip... Have a fun autumn day... Surie
KINDERKRAFTS I haven't had any issues with grease or with adhesives not sticking and I have used this trick thousands of times but if you're worried about it you can manually eject the die and then use the dryer sheet just to clean out the confetti.
I thought I was smart using parchment paper between my die and card stock, but even that doesn't work that well for really those tiny windows I am trying to cut out on my cottage cutz dies. Can't wait to try this, I might be using that pricey die more often at Christmas!!!! Thank you so much for the tip!!!!!
The 4 doubled wouldn't let me feed it throughmy new Big Shot, It took some experimenting to get it to work. Now it seems to cut out the die itself ok, but would let the scrap pieces release, I have to poke them out still. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to buy cheaper/new dryer sheets and see if that makes a difference. I'll let you know how it works. Thanks for the great suggest Karen
Bonjour Karen, super video , je retiens l'astuce , encore un grand merci à toi . J'adore.
Oh my gosh, how ever do you folks figure this out, lol. I am new to stamping and cutting so wish me luck. Finding so many great tips here. Thanks a bunch.
Hi Karen, I tried the dryer sheet technique, but just made my card stock quite damp. Do the dryer sheets have to be the very dry type, otherwise I cannot see how this can work. Would appreciate any feedback.
Hi. Loved this tip! I'd like to try, but I'm sorry, I don't have any idea what a dryer sheet is; I've never seen one. I live in Spain, and of course we have dryer sheets, but has nothing to do with the stuff she's using. Can you please tell me if that can be bought on a hypermarket like Lidl, Aldi, Carrefour, Eroski or Mercadona? (Theese are what I have close). Thanks a lot. Jessica Brook. Spain.
Hello Jessica. I have the same problem. But opposite you I have never seen Dryer-sheets in Spain.. Where did you see them ? Might be Mercadona ??? I guess I'll buy some on E Bay . Could be fun if we could share a big packet to share postage. Living in Spain can be a bit of a challenge when talking about getting cratf stuff, dies, stamps etc.. If you see this you could contact me if interested in ordering together. ( mamablitger@hotmail.com ). Best regards Monica
mamablitger Monica My friend Paula got this information from some of the Mom forums in Spain: Este producto se vende en supermercados normalmente en la seccion de detergentes de ropa, junto a los suavizantes.
This isn't working for me either. If it is cutting through the dryer sheets do you want more sheets or fewer? And should the type of sheet matter? (brand vs. generic--would generic work better/be less "juicy" or??)
That will leave a residue too faint for the eye to see, but it's still there. A lot of people are allergic to dryer sheets. Make sure the person you're sending the card to is not, or at least include a slip with that info if they're for a stranger or a swap.
I don't know how you figured that out, but you are a genius. Thanks for that marvelous tip. I am going to try it now. By the way I subscribed cause I know you will have more tips I can't live without. Lol. Thanks again
I tried this but... What a mess! Dryer sheet gunk stuck to my die, my cutting plates and my fingers. And I still needed to poke out most of the little bits. What am I doing wrong?!?!
Sherri, I think you'll need to do some experimenting. It sounds like the brand of dryer sheet you're using is a pretty "juicy" one. That first pass through, when the rollers are mashing down your stack of dryer sheets, is when you run the most risk of transferring the dryer sheet film to the plates. My plates are so scratched that it doesn't bother me, but I suppose on a clean plate it might be unsightly. In that case, I suggest taking a dryer sheet off the stack (use 3 folded into 6) and using a folded piece of printer paper around your sandwich before rolling it through - that way any film will transfer to the printer paper instead of your plates. My Pop it Ups wafer thin dies, and a lot of other companies' dies, are made in the USA and this trick works beautifully. I really can't say whether the dies that are made overseas will work as well, although a lot of people have been saying here in the comments that their Spellbinders and Sizzix Thinlits eject nicely with this trick. It also depends on what you're trying to eject from the die. Anything slick, like if you had double-sided adhesive sheets on the back of cardstock, or you were cutting thin plastic - well that won't give the dryer sheet anything to cling to, so you're back to your pokey tool. But regular papers and cardstocks pull beautifully out of my Made-in-the-USA dies with this trick. Hope this helps.
I still use both my sandwich plates but lay one folded dryer sheet on the paper side and run it through my Big Shot. Also, try turning your larger flat dies on an angle if you're having cutting issues. Another use for dryer sheets...Mice don't like them so I pack my boat especially the engine area and small spaces with a giant box of bounce from the Giant Discount membership store in my area. The boat smells great versus mothballs or cedar.
Help please, i have tried three different brands and all just put oil looking stains ruining the paper die cut BUT they do not take anything out of the die. Please help tina
Hi Tina. I use "Home sense" unscented dryer sheets, which is a generic brand from Kroger, a grocery chain in the southern USA. This trick works for me with my dies, my machine, my climate, my dryer sheets. As you'll see from the comments here, it is not a universal trick, because some people have not had good results. I really couldn't speculate about whether it's the dryer sheets, the dies, the machine, the climate or all of the above. It seems that a lot of folks have switched to using thin plastic bags from grocery stores to place between the die and the paper and make ejection easier. My suggestion would be to try that instead. Sorry it didn't work for you.

This is completely amazing! How did you stumble upon this amazing, easy-no-fuss trick?! Fabulous and thank you for sharing!!!
Two words: AWE SOME. Thank you so much - I am SO tired of sitting there punching all the little holes in my dies!
WOW - looks like there is hope for me now getting to use some of my intricate dies. I gave up on several because of all the sticking. Thank you.
This sounds so neat! I'll definitely have to make a trip to the dollar store & pick up a box of dryer sheets to try this. Tfs!
Oh, my goodness! I wonder if new dies should be pre-treated before use? Anyway, you have just saved me hours of frustration. Thank you so much!!
How brilliant....Wow!! what a technique....you rock Karen! Thanks for sharing
Wow! This works fantastic,,especially for my problem Spellbinders dies. I will be using them much more often now.
Karen, you are a genius. I love love your dies and have most of them.

OMG! Thank you, for sharing sometimes that is what keeps me from using some of my dies the thought of picking out paper doesn't seem as fun.
Thank you for your input. Don't you love having your own expert at home? Lucky you!
Going to the laundry room and getting me some dryer sheets...thanks for the tip

Thank you Karen, what a great tips.
Is there any way to get all the little pieces out together: it would be neat to be able to use the scraps too.
You are so right!!! It is amazing how much time it saves... THANK YOU!!!!!
Such a useful tip. Thank you for sharing this Karen. :-)

OMG, wonderful tip! Thank you for sharing your technique.
Great tip. I'm really glad you specified unscented. I would probably get scented and choke myself to death trying to use them. lol

I can't find unscented dryer sheets. I went to Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Big Lots. All are scented. Where are you buying unscented?

Thank you SOOOO much for posting this. Do you know how much time this is going to save me? Love this tip;very, very useful. Thank you!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING A AWESOME IDEA, I HAVE TO TRY THIS ONE. YOU HAVE A SUNSHINE DAY TYSVM AGAIN
A question from one of my stamping list members. Will the residue from the dryer sheets make it harder to color the cut out images from the dies ?
I was wondering the same thing. What an awesome time saver even if you only used it on images you aren't colouring!
will it work for me with Memory Box and poppy dies? I cut blades up.
This isn't working for me either.
If it is cutting through the dryer sheets do you want more sheets or fewer? And should the type of sheet matter? (brand vs. generic--would generic work better/be less "juicy" or??)
Great tip video, thanks for taking the time to share.
Seems to be much easier than the old wax paper trick. I end up with wax paper stuck in the dies as well!
Great Tip! Thanks for doing the tutorial!
OMGEE this is fabulous! Thanks so much for this amazing tip! tfs Hugs, Kristina
Wish I had seen that when making cards last week.

est ce que ça fonctionne avec les feuillets blancs des serviettes en papiers ?

Brenda Ryan a, xz,
Tried this technique many times and it still doesn't take the bits out the dies. All it did was leave a horrible sticky residue on my cardstock x
