The rumors that they said about the girl hitting sibling and destroying things was a lie, the only reason they brought her to that therapy was because they never said "mom," and "dad,". I did my research, they let a child die because of that.. sad. That's what really connects to what Patt said "forced love,", the reason the girl died.

I also did a little bit of digging, and the therapists were named Julie and Watkins Ponder. They claimed that they didn’t think that her protests were literal and that they thought it was philosophical. Absolutely disgusting.

What hurts me is that Jeane, Candace's “Mother” was a nurse. She of all people should have known that the torture Candace endured was dangerous, deadly in her case. I can only imagine what would’ve happened to her if Jeane showed as much neglect towards her patients as she did Candace. People like the therapists and Jeane are why prison exists. Truly abhorrent.

It gets worse when you remember that 5 consenting adults agreed to this. These individuals were in the MEDICAL FIELD. THESE 5 ADULTS IN THE MEDICAL FIELD PERSISTED FOR OVER AN HOUR ON A GIRL THAT WASN'T EVEN 11 YET. This should never have happened and if all was right in the world, they'd all have their medical licenses revoked, they would be serving life sentences without bail and parole, and they would be ostracised and alienated in the public eye. That is not just murder, that is FIRST DEGREE MURDER, these people knew what they were doing could cause asphyxiation, and they held the position for 80 minutes. First degree murder on its own is at least 25 years without parole. This was torture, and there are security cams and even a transcript to prove it. This is a true situation where the legal system failed.

Coming back to this theory after Matpat announced he’d be leaving, and I really hope that this series gets picked up again at some point. This is definitely one of the most memorable theories of his to me, maybe because of how disturbing it is, that’s it’s based on a true story, that i’ve never seen anything quite like Petscops, or that this series went unfinished. I never fully understood everything in the later theories of this series, but I hold it close to my heart nonetheless. Well, if nothing else, thank you for bringing Petscops to my attention and the first place, and for making these memories for me in the first place.

16 years for killing a child that couldn't even live until she herself was 16 years old? That's disgusting. Those people who literally tortured a child should have had a life sentence, spending their lives in a dark, dirty prison for taking away another's life. They should have been in prison longer, so that they could reflect on their horrifying actions. Instead they are free to torture more innocent children.

REBIRTHING ISNT EVEN PRACTICED BY THERAPISTS OR PSYCHIATRISTS!!
There’s actually some information left out in the initial story.
Candice was asked, “do you won’t to be rebirthed?”
      She faintly answered “no”
Her adoptive mother, feeling rejected by this, was told to leave the room, “therapists” fearing that Candice would sense her sorrow.
That’s when the therapists called her a quitter.
I think the vomit and excretion should have been the let up. Its usually only supposed to be a breathing exercise... But it was apparently a two week process... gosh my heart hurts so much

It’s scary that someone could think that “attachment” therapy like the one displayed in this video is the correct answer.
I had a hard time getting attached to my parents, when I was adopted at age 6 but now, 14 years later, with a lot of love, care and support from my parents and my adoptive sister, it’s going much better.

Something I'm wondering is just how the "therapists" thought that would work as a form of "rebirthing". Because when a pregnant woman goes into labour they help the newborn be well, born. But the "therapists" didn't at all let the mother help instead making the "baby" get out on their own causing the death of Candice Newmaker. Also, Only 16 years and then only serving 7.

I think it is more if Candice survived, she would have to be grateful that there is someone who is willing to take her. The forced love comes into play. The “therapists” probably would have banked on Stockholm Syndrome to take place.

Why only sixteen years? They killed a girl. She begged them to stop. And they kept on killing her. Yes, it made me sad, and horrified that something like that could happen to anyone. But more than anything, it pissed me off. No one should be seen that way, as "something" that is "defective", and needs to be "fixed". And the way they did it... The complete and utter disregard for her life... I cannot say I want them to die for their crimes. If I was the judge and I sentenced them to death I could never forgive myself. But they need to go away for life with no chance of early release. Sorry if this seemed harsh, for whatever reason you may have, but that is what I feel about this situation. I am also sorry for the language used. "Ticked" would not have portrayed the anger I felt.

Watkins, the person who was the one who encouraged this therapy later tried to appeal the 16 year sentence, of which she would only go on to serve 7 before being awarded parole. They got a 16 year sentence for murderring a child and tried to APPEAL it to have it lowered! In other words, they thought that a 16 year sentence for murderring a child was too damn severe!

    • @callmecorleone2805
      @callmecorleone2805 6 років тому +2

I'm not trying to make light of this tragedy, obviously there was severe negligence, but from what I could find on the matter it doesn't look like there was malicious intent on the part of the therapists. At the time this happened child psychology was still leaps and bounds away from the knowledge we have today, and a decent portion of reputable academics from that time believed that issues in young children stemming from severe trauma could only be helped by an equally traumatizing, albeit controlled, treatment. The therapists were genuinely doing what they thought was best to heal the girl and even though they were not vigilant in their safety protocol, at no point were they intending to harm her.
