Man when you were talking about being scared about losing your camera I was thinking about how much I appreciate all of the 3rd person camera shots that you do. I've become a huge fan over the past few weeks. I have a newborn and your videos have helped so much to chill us out. We love the camping, travel and build videos. The motorcycle camper is so awesome and as a huge resident evil fan I loved when you played re4 and the dlc in the forest. You really got me wanting to go out and explore the wild myself.
I saw First Nations guys make a tepee - they used a circle of wood they rested and tied to the poles then used that to haul the tarp up on pullies kind of style. That's where the idea to cut the tarp into a semi circle. It was so cool. I used a camo tarp. The next I try it I'm going to try plain white canvass treated for waterproofing.
Not a stealth camp then. I like the tipee though, I've done this with some success in years gone by. I cut pegs for the base on paracord and cut the tarp into a semi circle, great video dude.
I don't know how you do it man, my hair has to be in a ponytail the majority of the day 😂. Great vid! Hopefully you'll revisit the squirrel movie theater this summer!
It can get in the way sometimes lol and Ill have to think of another video like the squirrel movie theater as it warms up it was fun to make :D - Cheers!
@@QuietNerd There is a book l found at the library that may give you some ideas. Here's the title and shelf location number: ATLAS OBSCURA, 910.41 F, lots of interesting color photos!
After you're rope throwing adventure, it downed on me that if you do the teepee again, you could raise the rope ball with a tall stick, and be done faster.
I just love your camping videos! I usually can't wait to see what you're going to build! Loved your glowing yellow teepee. You are so mellow, it's so relaxing to watch you. Thanks for a great video.
You should make affidavit links to the buddy heater, the gas stove, the sled, the yellow para chord, the cot, the great snow suit, and the fabulous yellow tarp. The links would also help you support your channel. ❤ love your videos……hmmmm also if I may throw in a nerd thought. If you cut large triangles and used gorilla tape to assemble you could make a medieval conical tent and only use one pole. And it would fold easier.
Jason, another fun video! Thanks for not being over complicated. Living vicariously through your adventure videos, as I’m totally scared of the woods…shhh. Always hoping that you’ll catch evidence of friendly UFO’s on those overnight cameras. 🖖🏽
Haha every time I re-watch the security camera footage I'm always a bit nervous for what Ill catch on camera during the night. I'm sure its all the scary movies I watch lol. All in good fun :D - Cheers!
Labor intensive, a long job to completion - but it works. I think maybe it is too tall stick/rib wise. You got a great creation! Always have a piece of wood under your heater so it doesn’t melt your groundsheet. ALWAYS HAVE A CARBON MONOXIDE METER if you have a heater in a tent, too.
There is a much easier way to raise the tarp. The poles and cover for a Teepee provide for a lift pole, which is the last of the poles to be in place, with the tarp tied to it, it is lifted up placed at the rear of all the other poles, and the cover is swung around either side and finished at the front with a door flap as the sides are joined at the door pole, giving access. The centre rope hanging is used to anchor the whole of the frame to the ground. In a real teepee situation the shape is oval or actually the shape of an egg, and allows for smokes flaps to disperse smoke from a fire from within these flaps can be adjusted for the direction of the wind. The shape of the teepee is designed to give maximum adhesion to the ground by the use of the wind effect upon it. But you are doing well. keep up the good work. a lot of turkey for the grill.
@@QuietNerd ... and you'd make this "chief cook and bottlewasher" happy if you brought along a pan with a slightly heavier bottom for your pancakes. :) No more burned pancakes. That OR lift your pan off the heat for about 30 seconds if it's too hot - then pour in your batter. :) I'm so full of advice!!! Love your channel.
Tie a bright colored ribbon on your tripod and you won't lose your camera in the forest when there's no snow. I also saw on another post that you're in Michigan, glad to know you're a fellow Michigander
First the Cheese Cube Now the Cheddar Nip for shelter, brilliant, love these videos Q🦉. When will you visit the awesome bushcraft again? Can’t wait to see what’s next.😊
That tipi was awesome. Esp. in the dark, like a beacon. What a great idea to camp out in a tipi. Now you camped in a square thingy, a triangle thingy, what about a round thingy like a tube? 😊 And I swear my stomach rumbled when I saw the pasta 😂 Keep up the awesome videos, much love from the UK ❤
Don’t know why but I randomly came across yours videos and been on a binge like it’s all the stuff I wanna do but thought was too hard but watching these I feel proud to know it’s not keep it up
I've been going through and enjoying your shelter builds. Great stuff man, makes me want to get out there badly. Also makes me want to just throw a meal together in the pan and make it work. Also very relaxing videos and they are soothing too.
There is a much easier and faster way to do this. At home, reinforce the center of the tarp with a more robust and less slick layer of material. Then look up something like, "making a pyramid shelter using a large tarp". Basically you stake down the tarp in a certain way, and then once it is staked down, you go underneath and use a couple of poles in an inverted V to raise it up. It won't be as tall, but it will be way more wind and rain resistant since it will all be stretched taut and no holes near the ceiling. It is also MUCH faster and easier to do. Also, ditch the heavy cot. Bring in your sled, put it upside down and put the foam on top (you might need two foam layers though depending on how raised the rails are on the bottom). I realize it may not be quite long enough, but you can put something at the end to extend it a bit. In cold weather, I don't sleep fully stretched out anyways, but curled up on my side mostly. If you want to make it warmer, pile up some leaves underneath it (in the empty air space underneath). Or, if no access to leaves/brush/duff, and if there is a lot of snow, if the snow is dry, fluffy, light, use the snow, but leave about an inch gap between the top of the snow and the bottom of the top of the sled. This will provide a lot of insulation against the cold, heat sink of the ground (course the foam will provide insulation as well). And since you left a well sized air gap between the snow and the sled, the snow probably isn't going to melt appreciably, if at all.
im slowly getting time to watch all your videos. i found in life the easiest thing to do is nothing.. many these days embrace that. i like you actually do stuff & think before during & after. you aint lazy. wish i had you to work with in the many jobs ive worked in my life. 1 job was a factory making tarps. lol. since we live in FL hurricanes come we are expecting one soon? i think if our 🏡 got damaged what would i build for us to stay in till i rebuild? so im watching to get ideas 👍
I love the tipi idea. I thought of something while watching you. What if you attach the tarp through the grommet holes first before you erect the 3 main poles? Might need a smaller tarp
I think I saw that years ago a bit creepy that one. I try not to watch scary movies the night before I go camping alone lol. One day I want to try to watch the Blair Witch in the forest alone to really test my sanity lol but I'm not sure if I ever will do it
Its nice to see someone trying all the ideas we had as teenagers.
I wish I knew what you know when I was younger but it's so awesome to watch you do all those things that you do thank you for the videos😊😊

Ohhh can you do a medieval conical tent made from tyvek ? That might be really interesting.
love it! it looks awesome man but i would have kept the logs tied to the tarp and just fold it up and keep it for the future, but thats me lol

An idea.. You should do a Trash Bag Shelter
You could set up a little household in your teepee. What an exciting life you have.
I have a camp bed similar to yours I've put some leveling screws on the legs so you can set up on a slope like you had rather easy
Smart move it never crossed my ind until that night lol
Love your trips. Looks like a real life banana!! I put a tarp and a few things on my shop list tomorrow and am gonna go build 1 out by deerbeer camp!!
