Fun fact, Kissing was originally about parents spreading their immune system to their babies through saliva. So at least in great apes, it was originally for showing affection to babies and not adults. We're unclear on how the meaning behind it changed and why it spread to adult affection, but it has. Humans are the weird but successful cousin to the other great apes.

@@landofthelivingskies3318 , I found research originally published in 1992 that addresses the overall health and wellbeing of gorillas in zoos:
"KOPFF (1982) and SUCKER (1987) already noticed that gorillas do not like to stay in the open; this should be expected, because they are rain forest primates. If the enclosure furnishings are not attractive to them, they spend most time near the walls ...
Much more important for the animals than the mere floor space of a gorilla exhibit is its structure - facilities that provide shelter and an opportunity to lean against them, for example trees, walls, niches and sleeping cages. Even a glass barrier is a 'wall' and therefore used as a place for rest."

Fun fact. I did have my shoulder dislocated by my mother in the late 80's. I was like 5 or 6. I can't remember exactly what led to it, but I was holding onto a railing. But you do realize the ones in captivity can't be released? I mean, you do understand that right? And any type of wild animals in the zoo is either because they were born into the zoo or because they were sick and, they had to step in and rescue them. It's not always a bad thing, a lot of times these types of animals are rescue animals, and they can't ever go back out into the wild because they cant fend for themselves anymore, don't be ignorant about it, because most of these animals can't go back out into the wild again, and it's not because of the zoo it's because they were born into it, or they're just not capable of taking care of themselves, and let's be real. They're safer here than they would ever be free, but I agree they should be free but not these animals.
