Love the horn element used at the first second of this track. Let's you know this song is going to be intense and action packed right away and it does not disappoint.
I'm overwhelmed by the incredible response to this orchestration - thank you everyone for checking it out, sharing it and for all the great feedback. I'll release it on other media platforms next week after I've made some small adjustments to the mix. Tifa's Theme is coming up next, and I hope to release it before the end of the week!
You bring the heat, man! Your music has a solidified place in my game's music folder, lmao... You really are a treasure to the gaming remix community, and I hope you keep doing this! Thank you for your amazing work!
PapaWill I use a wide range of orchestral sample libraries and record all parts with a midi keyboard or write the notes in. I ripped the audio from the trailer and recorded over it to try and get it as close as possible. If you want to see how it’s done, check out videos by Daniel James - he does these great walkthroughs and streams while trying out new sample libraries!
90’s kids never grew up. We just evolved and remade ourselves. And it’s very happy and pleasing to see our favorite classics have done the same. I legitimately thought this was a prerelease official track from the soundtrack of the remake. You’ve done an incredible job.

It’s crazy how accurate to the Remake this is, and this came out a year before remake’s trailer that featured this song. Lord have mercy you are talented.
My god, I never thought I'd see a cover that I would 100% want in ANY game, let alone my favorite game of all time. This truly captures the remake to a T. Fantastic job.

Just a tip.The song Abracadabra by Brown Eyed Girls have one. Pretty sure you can find the vocals out there. Could be funny to try and distord the "ah" to make it sound male.
Only found this version this week and cant stop listening. Somehow, 4 years ago, you released something so good that not even SquareEnix could match it in their remake. Nobuo would be proud, indeed!
What I really appreciate about this is that even though you've orchestrated it, all the different tracks and lines in it still retain the original character of what they had in the uh, original. Far too often I feel as if orchestrated takes on tracks assign the completely wrong instrument to a certain part and it feels "off" but this feels like it has captured the soul of the original spot on while still giving it the depth of an orchestra epic.
Honestly, I agree. This man here did an excellent job with the FF7 soundtrack and its evident he knows how to make good orchestral renditions! Worth every penny buying this album off of iTunes!

Waiting for my PS5 to arrive, for primary one game series, guess what it is 😄 this music is directly linked to it. Love the version of it, hypes me up for when the battle begins! Awesome work as always! 🙏
For me it's kinda the opposite. It feels too "floaty", not enough power behind the instruments. The original has real force behind the instruments so it gets you more pumped up. Here I kinda feel like I'm being strangled/don't have enough air to breathe due to how light the instruments are.
@@TheRealXartaX I mean I wrote that 3 years ago - having listened to the FF7R soundtrack a lot since then (I mean a lot) I consider the remake's soundtrack a triumph. In short, I agree with you
I really like your twist to every FF VII songs that you've made. Somehow you made them more epic and grand, but doesn't lose the nostalgia to the original. I wanted to say a big thank you for your hard work, you need more recognition !
Average Kraut see but that’s the thing, for most nostalgia is one of the key elements of the remake, that’s why we all want it so bad 😁I understand where you’re coming from though
Wow wow wow ! You are always creating amazing pieces of work. But I didn't saw this one coming. You added an efficient tempo to sustain the whole battle Idea. Nice job Pontus !
1:15 Ok...I hear you on the 'closing verse' I guess you can call it that. Nice. But on this 2:26, the change and additions, how you did it on this...Intense. It's like "if you didn't hear me the first time, you heard me NOW!!!!" Awesome!!!! I love how you did this.
WOW!!! GREAT, AMAZING, INCREDIBLE job!!! This is by far my favorite FF title, and I thinks it's on of the best battle music in the franchise. KUDOS!!!!
God! you know how glad I am that you recreated the battle theme even before the actual OST comes out... can't stop listening to this. thank you and hope to hear more of your recreation of classic game OST.
I love the key/chord transition during the first 30 seconds of the song. The sound piques ones curiosity and leads into a very soulful interpretation which made the original so good. I am also comparing your piece to the remastering done by Nobuo Uematsu for the Remake, so please don't take my criticism too harshly because I know that would be an unfair comparison overall. There are a few things I would like to criticize: The use of horns was done perfectly, the trumpet and french horn sounds used perfectly encapsulated the energy of the original. This inspiration has the exact essence of the original, without any added emotional inflection [or] reflection which a live orchestral revision contributes to the mood of the song. I praise this, I hope your song gets on the remake and you should definitely try to get someone at Square to hear your work. However, there is an absence of [Bass Strings] and the lacks pounding of [Drums] heard from the intro which added to our listening sound stage and lacks that reverb slightly marred the impression of the work. " I do enjoy bass but I am not a bass head and I generally prefer a neutral balanced sound from most of my own music with a few exceptions. This song was listened to on my 1000w surround system, akg earphones, sony and koss headphones, and on my laptop speakers." The emphasis on horns can be too much, extended listening causes fatigue. "Which ironically wouldn't happen if it was in a game because many battles don't last long enough for the song to complete." The remaster has a wider use of instruments which I cant dock you for, but there it almost eliminates listening fatigue. There could have been a tweak to the formatting where there was more of an emphasis on horns and then another section focus more of stringed instruments? There are elements of growth as the emphasis changes within the battle that is going on during the track and I mean this literally as that is the motif of the song. The remaster instills a sense of fear, uncertainty, dread. It immediately puts you in that theoretical battle. There a few minor instruments in the remaster which stand out; a few minute' instances where I hear cymbals, a triangle, and clear inclusion of a xylophone which added to the chaos and inhibited listening fatigue due to the introduction of new elements throughout. Your version of this classic does something different. The fading into the original theme by adding your introduction makes it stand out among many of the versions I've heard over the years who have failed to execute it properly. There is a build up of intensity and uncertainty and then relief as that transition happens which made me shed a tear, it was magical. The remaster too has a sense of wailing as the violins, horns, and section transitions culminate into a finality by the end. Your version does so much to retain the same level of clarity and respect to the original, I'd even say it is EQUAL to it. It has all of the elements which made the original great. I'd listen to your song as the main battle track with the remaster being used for a cinematic or boss fight. In fact, this can be done with modding, maybe I will try it out one day! :D This is truly an amazing version, there are only minor criticism I could find with the song which doesn't make me feel inclined to turn it off which so many other versions readily do at the drop of a hat. I am surprised you aren't already working at Square or for another big production company! Is there any place to buy a FLAC or WAV lossless copy of your song, none of the current distributors offer it? Thank you for making this version, criticisms aside and when being compared to the much larger pockets Square has with their remaster this is a masterpiece. I pounded the like and subscribe button, you are a boss!
Thank you for both the praise and constructive critizism! Both are much appreciated! The lack of low end (sacrificed for more clarity) is something I've been struggling with and I'm still learning and trying to improve my sound. No FLAC available anywhere I'm afraid - I only recently made a point of making FLAC's available on Patreon, but this track is not among them.
I fully endorse this version (arrogant, aren't I? - but I hope you get what I mean). If I may offer a small suggestion, which I admit to be possibly skewed by nostalgia, in that it may need an extra bit of 'oomph' here and there, just to make it not just an awesomely well-made song, but also to give that sensation that in a battle scene, and it can go both ways. I cannot fault what you've made here, I absolutely enjoyed it all.

It has the same thump and beat as the original but you added little touches here and there and it sounds absolutely awesome. I want this one in my iPod!! Makes for a great cinematic piece fit for a film.
I keep coming back to listen to this. I remember listening to your arrangement of 'Those Who Fight' 4 years ago, and thought it was a really impressive effort, but it's clear to see you've come leaps and bounds since then. Previously I felt that the only orchestral arrangement of the battle theme that had ever really captured the spirit of the original was Kazuhiko Toyama in the 'Fulfilled Desire' medley at the end of Crisis Core. But I think this tops even that.

Omg Pontus.... så jäkla bra asså.... sorry!!
This is so extremely good, im am so impressed. This is the best tune in the entire game franschise, and you outdid it with souch an elegansse. Keep doing what you do pls, we need it
Omg the instrument in the background You hear that holy cow its Magnifique
As much as I love this, it's almost TOO epic for a normal battle theme.
Perfect as a dnd BGM ;)
For mine, anyways.
This is astoundingly similar to the official one.
Wow! Somehow you made it even better than your previous version, which was amazing already! I hope the one we get to listen on game is as great as this. :D
This sounds so good - thank you for your amazing work!
My childhood has returned lol
Bro. THIS...is...FIRE!!! Gonna set it as my ringtone. Lol.
Fantastic piece! It’s so fresh while paying homage to the past! ❤️
Thank's Ami!
I’m currently playing through FFVII right now for the first time ever and this is awesome to hear!
Ah this music always reminds me of the good old grinding times.
The Mideel region will live on in our hearts.
Hah! Omnislash
This has to be one of the, if not THE best remixed work that has been made of this track. Congratulations dude!
This is better than the piece I heard in the trailer and I hope the whole thing sounds something like this.
Damn this is great. Feels excellent for a fight theme. I've seen a lot of other fan-remakes that make it too mellow. Very exciting!
Square really should hire you to do the music for the FFVII Remake, your awesome music would compliment the amazing visuals perfectly!
You can hear some of his music in-game with the mod Echo-S.
I was actually worried about this, but hearing this reassured me. The music is one of my top favorite things about this game.
Bro your back !!! And right after the square enix E3 showing I was thinking about ur FF7 album!!! Literally brought me to tears 😭☺️🙌🏼💯❤️ your awesome!!
To move someone emotionally with instrumental music is the true hallmark of a great musician. That Pontus can do that doesn't surprise me in the least! 😁
Dustin Gonzalez I totally agree! Even the instrumental choices and mixing on his versions are so amazing! It’s hard to believe it isn’t a real orchestra. I actually prefer these to the real orchestrated versions. Someone needs to hire this guy for the next game.
@@djrommybalibalita5747 - If you have the Steam version of FFVII, be sure to check out the mod Echo-S when it drops. He has graciously given us his permission to use his work in our mod.
I also am the voice actor for Cid. If you want some of his stuff looped and ready to put in your PC game, let me know and I'll email them to you. Might take a bit, but I'll get them done.
Now I got inspired to loop this one immediately, lol
This takes me back.
You Never
Ever
Forget this theme!!!! Can't wait!!!
Wow, this is great, even more impressive that you made this in such a short time
Oh wow is this not the official track? Here I am listening to it and thinking they did amazing! You did an amazing job. This would be a perfect addition to the remake.
My God was a beautiful rendition.
mistook this for the Games version for a sec on my playlist. u really nailed the remakes style.
Have to say, I love the artwork - it's really fitting for the music.
