Right? This entire game's soundtrack is like 5-10 mixes of the same iconic themes but with their own identity, thought, and energy. SE went S-tier on this soundtrack.

Weapons bursting out of the North Crater, Tifa vs Scarlet, Sapphire Weapon vs Junon, all of Mideel, Wutai, Tifa restoring Cloud's mental state, Cid going into space, Vincent finds Lucrecia, Knights of the Round (they're gonna have a whole story arc, lets admit it), Bugenhagen dying/Meteor summoned/the Gi, Diamond Weapon vs Midgar, Vincent vs Hojo, North Crater finale. Part 3 is gonna be LIT

The soundtrack is such a labor of love, and I think this track floats above a field of stand-outs. The way it progresses-- I think the way it comes together as the trees catch fire and you regain control, with the drums and the metal style, may be one of my favorite gaming moments ever.
I love how the characters were feeling confident, until they saw those trees burning, cus they were like: “Ah, man. Was that gonna happen to us? We had this in the bag.” And then, Barret’s says: “I think this thing isn’t messing around.” That shit made me say: “Uh-Oh. “😬

Funny because if you listened to the Abzu track a thousand times like I did you could notice from the start that it was reorchestrated and would go for more but oh boy did I expect THAT much of a banger for the third part
@@DisIo19if you have a fine tuned ear you can tell it’s all virtual instruments the first 2 phases just like Abzu and Arsenal. Phase 3 here a real it sounds like at least a real brass section and real guitars kick in. I could be wrong but it feels more natural than phases 1 and 2. If it’s not real brass they did a helluva job.
Here's the fun part: All of Crab Warden, Abzu, The Arsenal, and Midgardsormr were arranged by the same person, Yoshitaka Suzuki. He uses virtual instruments most of the time so I'm pretty sure these are all virtual instruments.

That final phase reminds me of mounting "Zinogre" in "Monster Hunter World". A really cool theme suddenly gets some very prominent percussion while you are on top of the monster.
Literally same, except it was Tifa hanging on for dear life. Got some special synergy attack with a character that wasn't in my party...a mechanic I haven't seen or used since this fight. I'm 40 hours in and still nothing else has been as challenging as this boss.
Remake version of this song, phase 3 was like the end of the fight. That's what it felt like. This version of phase 3 feels like the fight is just getting started
Man this track fighting Migardsormr for the first time gave me absolute chills, I had to pause the game and let myself be immersed. The fact that all these years later I'm able to experience something so great that was my favorite as a teenager is just mind blowing.
I really love when games do this for their boss battles, to change the soundtrack ad you progress through the fight. In this one we got: Phase 1: You're on enemy territory, neither of you know what the other can do. Phase 2: The Boss shows their gimmick, you either are having an easy or hard time with the boss, is time for the comeback Phase 3: The battle is turning in your favor and the boss is desesperate, the theme shifts to something more akin to your team (in this case, we switch from orchesta to orchesta with mainly drums and a company guitar), it's the final push! use your limits or team attacks, we're going to finish this!
Wow! And I thought the main battle theme from Rebirth was good. This is knock out brilliant! The first stage is a really strong straight up remix of the OG battle theme, coming at you harder than the version we hear in Remake. The second phase is an utterly *sublime* escalation of the first, with an epic climax in complete spirit with the original. The last stage just lets loose and goes wild. The musicians involved are clearly talented as fuck!
Also I love this remix. He’s an easy boss once you know how. But I feel like it properly captures what the Sormr is. Menacing, terrifying. When it kicked in and he used Beta. I was like this guy doesn’t know when to quit. It really invokes a feeling of fear. Obviously if such a beast existed.
God I love this soundtrack so much, one of the greatest, if not the greatest in all of gaming. And this boss fight can be so annoying on hard mode without elemental materia lol
For some reason it hit different for me in the Specimen H-something-or-other fight in Gongaga. When the drums arrived, I could’ve won the fight in real life. On my own. With the Zolom backing up.
I'll be honest. I got slammed the first couple times I tried this boss in hard mode. I literally skipped the chapter and went on to others so I could figure out HM strategy. When it was time to face this boss again... I got killed. 😂 BUT! I did win by a landslide that 2nd time... just with the sound off😅

Soundtracks are being released 4/10/24 I think. Square Enix will begin sending them out soon. I preordered mine in February.
