Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of 2018’s most critically acclaimed and bestselling games. But throughout the gaming world, every Red Dead Redemption 2 review, critique, analysis and essay has one common element: most RDR2 review comment on the pace, the movement, and the complexity of RDR2 gameplay. From the first Red Dead Redemption 2 trailers, to the Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay footage and now the Red Dead 2 review, the adventures of Arthur Morgan and John Marston have spawned some complicated takes, whether you play it on XBox One or PS4.
Rockstar games, the makers of GTA 5, have iterated on their formula since the release of GTA V years ago, but Red Dead 2 feels unlike any other Western game before. Instead, it reminds us of games developed in Japan. Games like Shenmue and Yakuza, with their slow life video game simulations, or Dark Souls, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus with their clunky movement and controls, or Monster Hunter with its overwhelming systems and mountains of menus. Rockstar didn’t intentionally make RDR2 an ode to Japanese games, but the mechanics that are giving players problems are the same as quirks that make Japan developed games so special.

RDR2 is the best western game. It's not an action game it's an adventure game with shooter element. Shooter games focuses on action but that is not RDR2 it is a cowboy simulator

One thing I wanted to mention but couldn't fit in the script: The original 'Red Dead Revolver' began as a project under Japanese publisher Capcom. It was developed in the US by Angel Studios, which would later become Rockstar San Diego, but the franchise does have at least one (fairly tenuous) tie to Japan.
Is that true? Did it really have Japanese involvement?

Criticise the movement all you want, but it’s some of the most realistic stuff I’ve seen. Most games just go for - if player turns around instead of the character turning around they just instantly face backwards - whereas rockstars movement is a lot more realistic. It’s a tiny thing guys, the game is amazing.
Realistic =/= fun or good game design. If we wanna go fully realistic we might as well have the player control each individual limb like QWOP

When the open world is as beautiful, dynamic and interactive as RDR2 or even Shenmue, then I WANT to walk/ride horses slow. But for every other game? Yeah minimize the down time pls.

Never thought of this....but yeah, hell yeah! JRPG’s are sloooooooowww, grindy, heavy on story, with repetitive game play and always searching for items. Sounds like RDR2 to me.
Its a great game, amazing in so many ways, but I get many people are bored by it. I loved it because you have the choice how deep you wanna go. You can only do story missions, or you can do EVERYTHING, or somewhere in between.....whatever suits you, which is what we want.

Gamers complain about everything, they complain about gta 4 for being realistic gameplay and so slow, so Rockstar created gta 5 with fast paced gameplay and unrealistic physics because it all about the fun, and they also complain about gta 5 for having not realistic gameplay, so now with Rdr2 they brought back the realistic gameplay and they still complain for being realistic, WTH!!!!!!
