Thank you for spending the time and money to compare the differences between the two. I feel it’s a no brainer given the price. The quality of some aftermarket parts have come a long way. The cost of the OEM air filter and similar build quality would steer me towards aftermarket.
Greay video! We usually buy the cheaper ebay set for under $20. Change every year/ 10k miles oil change. That’s actually more steps in the 16 rx vs the 15 we gave. Its super easy in our GX460, only have to remove the door. We had an Infiniti qx60 and Mercedes ML, pain in the rear to change cabin air filters.
@Jenny Preston Just be careful... A lot of stuff like this sold on eBay is counterfeit. That may be okay with you but not with me. Such counterfeits usually come from China. And I wouldn't trust the quality for filtering the air going into my engine.
You can buy OEM filters on Amazon at discounted prices being sold by Toyota dealers. Something else I expected to see in this video is an explanation of the difference between OEM Toyota cabin air filters and aftermarket filters. The "UP" arrows on the Toyota parts and filter simply tell us which side goes up for the parts they are found on. They have nothing to do with air flow direction. Well, not directly anyway. Up means "this side up"; however the air flow direction is down, not up. Air flow arrows on aftermarket filters should point down. All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow. Otherwise the blower motor mounted below the filter would be full of dirt and debris instead of that dirt collecting on top of the old filter.

I always like to buy the OEM when it comes to parts, there's a real quality difference, but with these air filters, it seems trivial
Just found this ! What a great video. Thanks so much.
Glad I could help!

Thanks! Ya I posed another video a few years ago on my 2010 RX350 which would be the same as your 2015. I want to check out the new GX460!

Thank you that was very helpful

Are you uploading the video on replacing the sub woofer speaker?
Unfortunately my hard drive crashed and I lost that video before I could post it! Sorry!
@@CarolinaCowboys thanks for the response, what speaker did you replace the pen with?
@@highvibrations489 I went with this one www.jlaudio.com/collections/car-audio-subwoofers-w1v3/products/8w1v3-4-car-audio-w1v3-subwoofers-92079
After market slows air flow we had to go back to OEM on the wife’s RX350 to have the same CFMs
How did you measure that?

Thanks for the tips! I couldn't find any OEM on Amazon but I've been happy with the after market ones from Amazon so far.

Nothing wrong with using an aftermarket cabin air filter as long as you point air flow arrows down.
