“I live in houses, not homes. Do you know what I mean?” I do actually, and hope everyone in the comment section who also relates gets to find what they’re looking for/what makes them most comfortable. Hardcovers go on the bottom shelf, Jack. Hardcovers should always go on the BOTTOM!!!! LOL 10:30 Definitely a STRUCTURAL issue as to why your trolley is leaning!!!! Happy New Year, Jack.
The wine cellar allegory put a huge smile on my face, so true. Often times you lose the mood if the book isn’t within instant reach. Another way to turn the daunting nature TBR piles around is to follow Umberto Eco’s philosophy - his personal library was mostly constituted of the books he hasn’t read. He preferred to be surrounded and inspired by infinite potential knowledge rather than smugly display the stuff he already read. Truly an icon for us, lit/ling majors and compulsive book buyers 😌 And yes, a very happy and productive new year to all! Xx
As an ex digital nomad now living in a long term flat , having your own place hits sooooo different when you have been travelling for a while, I think I may be enjoying it more than travelling 😅 your time will come & you’ll have great memories to inspire your flat decor!!
I’ve literally never bought UA-camr or “influencer” merch before, and I just broke the seal and got your reading log and notebooks! 😂 can’t wait for them to come! Happy new year!
I feel quite the same about my books. I've always said that me writing in my books, underlining, highlighting and such is as much a form of love as it is to keep them untouched for the ones who choose to. We all love our books in our own ways.
When you talked about wanting to own your own things like sofas, it reminded me that I'm the exact opposite. I feel like having furniture and a lot of possessions really tie you down to one spot which I'm not really into.
I totally agree about settling down and getting your collection organized. My husband and I have 18 bookshelves full of books and after 20 years of marriage we still love to rearrange the books and add to them.
I love these spontaneous and more casual videos! They feel like hanging out with a fellow book lover friend 🖤 Thanks so much for your content and I wish you ALL the best for 2022!
Great books! Also, for next time I would recommend loading the bottom shelf first for structural security and working from the bottom to the top to help the structure settle in (sorry, but my inner big sis does not want that top shelf falling on your head).
It's not that you want what you can't have, it's that you dream of many lives. Through reading, we put ourselves in the stories we read and long for the varying aspects in them. A lot of the things you admire will clash. It's hard to achieve cottagecore and bad bitch in the city within the same stage of your life.
It’s nice to hear you talk about how much you enjoy filming spontaneous videos like this, I really appreciate watching them in return! That trolley is really trying its best, what a mood. I quickly wanted to share that I read 100 books last year! I never thought I could achieve it and I’ll probably never do it again (which I am completely fine with). My reading goal for the year was „only“ 56 and I didn’t really believe that I could even reach that. Your videos were a main motivator, so let me just thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the effort you put into your videos last year!!
From experience those trolleys were originally meant for people who do art & Crafts. So one could store their paints, wool, crochet etc. I would recommend the heavy books go on the bottom of the trolly, centre of gravity closer to the ground, plus the trolly will handle the books better. 🙂

It’s actually crazy how spot on this video is with my life Jack. I live in Paris but I am home for a couple of weeks for the holidays so I bought myself a book cart while I am here to organise my books at my parents house. This made me think about how much I wish that I had a place of my own.
