I just finished Unbranded by Herb Wharton and I’d definitely recommend it if you want to read more Australian books. It’s written about life in the outback following the life of 3 men, and also has a lot of good reflections about aboriginal culture and oppression. It’s written by an aboriginal author with who worked as a drover for many years and is based in his experiences. It’s so so good.

I don't normally do non-fiction (except when you recc) but I've been reading Humanity's Moment by Joelle Gergis and honestly some of the most moving writing I've ever read. Ur discussion of books often make them seem a lot less intimidating and you give rly good overviews of where to start with topics...I think ppl wld be into that for climate change?

I just read a book set in Scotland (though by an Australian author) - 'Feast' by Emily O'Grady, which was shortlisted for the Stella Prize (the prize Praiseworthy won!). I think you'd love it Jack. The characterisation was so masterful. Other recent Australian books I'd recommend: 'The Swift Dark Tide' by Katia Ariel, which is a lyrical exploration of a woman coming out as queer in middle age, and 'Body Friend' by Katherine Brabon, about autoimmunity.
Somehow I lose my ability to hear and understand when someone reads something out loud. Talking? No problem. Reading for myself? No problem. Somebody is reading something out loud? Don't know what's being said I'm sorry 😭😭 that's how bad my ability to concentrate has gotten.
