As a Floridian, I don't really own a lot of socks. I do have two drawers full of bathing suits though! When we wear socks, it's typically shortie socks so thank you for this video!
I like doing shorities when I get yarn that my kids like too. I get a shortie socks and then one of them can get a pair. (They are young, so their socks are small).
I have started making shortie socks and love them as much as my longer socks. My family says I am a sock snob now because I do not like store bought socks anymore. Lol. Thank you for all the tips and advise!

I just finished my first pair of shorties for Summer Sock Camp in DK using mandi’s makings in “rose” colorway. Sooo squishy and comfy! I did just wing it after making your regular vanilla socks. They turned out perfect. Now I’m all about that DK so if you want to stock needles for DK I wouldn’t be mad at it 😊
I really enjoy your tutorials. They are so helpful. I'm doing a sock on 9" needle. Unfortunately, I have frogged it several times because I dropped a stitch on the cuff. But so far i'm doing ok.

I prefer knitting and wearing shorty socks. A good pattern to reference for the rolled cuff would be Rose City Rollers socks. That was my first pair of socks I ever knit and probably my favorite. 💖
While watching this, I decided to start shortie socks. 10 round cuff and maybe 5 round leg. Your videos always help with confidence in doing things different then how I would do socks 🥰🤗 I love your vanilla sock pattern. Still scared to try different patterns

Thanks SO much for this. Almost finished with sock mate and plan on next sock to be a shortie. Seems I’m mostly barefoot in summer, after a long Ohio winter, but when the AC kicks in my toes get chilled and this will keep them warm. Especially good for scraps or to try out a new yarn combo.

Hi Kay, I'm watching this video because I'm knitting a pair of shortie socks using the Rose City Rollers pattern I found on Ravelry, it has a rolled cuff like the one you were just describing. It's my first time knitting socks and I'm using the 9" circulars. I'm at the point of starting the heel, and stalling, because I don't want to mess up, I started the sock in 2023, and changed my mind abou the ribbing, etc. I'm finishing these in 2024! Looking for a sock ruler with instructions.

I love sortie socks, especially with a rolled top. Shorties are a great way to try out a new technique too, I'm a dpn woman but I want to try magic loop and shorties are great for a quick try out.

I only wear ankle socks - even in the middle of a frozen Northeast PA winter. I usually knit a 1” cuff then another inch before the beginning of the heel. Now I think I’ll try the 5 cuff rounds then 5 rounds before the heel. Love the look of those socks you knit! Thanks for the info Kay!

I’m knitting my first pair of shortie socks now and am using my customary sock pattern with 2x2 ribbing on the foot, stockinette for the sole and a FLK short row heel. The heels are finished, so my plan is to knit at least an inch more before then changing to 2x2 ribbing on the back of the leg to match the front. I’m not sure how many rounds of that I’ll do before binding off, but I’ll try the socks on with my sneakers before binding off. My usual bind off is Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy one, but I’m not sure if I’ll use that or another stretchy one. I’ll do a little research on that. If anyone has a suggestion of a bind off for shortie socks I’d be grateful. Thanks! As always, I love your videos, Kay!
Shortie socks are the BEST!! I'm a slower sock knitter so shortie socks are my go to. And they're perfect for scrappy socks.

Shortie socks are my current obsession! Also, since I live at the beach, they are a smidge more practical.

If you’d like to look at a specific pattern for rolled edge shorties Rose City Rollers (Ravelry) is a great one.

I did the 5x5 for shorties using your Flyers tutorial and it's working out great.

I live in Tucson and we hit 112 for the third straight day so shorties are essential. I'm just glad I'm not in Phoenix lol.
