  • The Stubbins estate is just below Holcombe Moor, Ramsbottom. Although the walk is only 4 miles long on the map, it is up hill and down dale so takes some time to complete. The public footpath entrance is at the back of the Old Mill Hotel car park. From Ramsbottom it is a climb up Deep Clough, along Holcombe Moor, then down through Buckden Wood, past the Tentering Tower and along the Stubbins Estate back to the Old Mill Hotel.

Lovely scenery. I always like this time of year for the new greenery, before the insects and weather start to ravage it. Your walk here showed it to perfection. Pity about all the mud - we haven't finished with it yet.

Hi Michael, my favourite time of the year too, I have some favourite benches to sit and look around. Mud stepping is a new technique to master for walkers now I think.

We are members of the National Trust, so always interesting to see places not visited. But know Ramsbottom and Holcombe Moor. A pleasant looking route and some pleasant hideaway spots too. Also a lovely piano piece. Those chord progressions delightful

Always enjoy visiting National Trust places, although not keen on the cafe prices. There are a few areas of the Stubbins estate not visited yet so must have a another look. Glad you liked the piano piece Shanita, originally written for my pupils.

Well I never this was so close to where I live. Loving the warning signs for the geese. Should have these fitted in Lower Broughton, Salford and just as you come off the Mancunian onto Regent Road.

Yes the geese signs also need to be easy for traffic to see. Great area for walking with interesting history, thanks for watching.
