I normally only watch the league vids so not sure if it’s normal for the ball reveal videos, but the replay/breakdown is super helpful on these videos and really helps sell the ball. Appreciate it a lot

Super informative video. Love the knowledge you can provide during a ball review. It helps out a lot for amateur/new bowlers. Or perhaps I overthink things and shouldn't focus on such technical stuff yet.

This is my favorite ball. However just like you said if the lane isn't a heavy oil condition I'm usually using a different ball or I change balls by the 3rd game. It's a REALLY strong ball

Nova wasn’t great for me. Definitely not saying it’s a bad ball. I’ve seen a lot of good ones go down the lane.

I went bowling like twice in the past two weeks trying to get back into it and looked at shoes. Now most of my recommended videos on here is bowling related lol.
It's honestly so much fun to throw. Fits the bag perfectly. Cant wait to put my pin up layout on in once it releases.
Why pin up over pin down?
@@TraumaER Purely due to the fact that when I threw the pin-up layout Strom brought in, it felt better for me. I was thinking of maybe drilling something with a bit of extra flare. Still deciding really.
@@alucard1958 just curious. Most of my stuff is pin up. I throw almost exclusively SPI. I’m kind of tired of all these over powered balls that don’t seem to work in league or sport shots. My main ball now is a Phaze 2. I may get another because these super strong balls don’t seem to last very long. I may consider pin down for more control and less flare.

Yes I think that staying father right is probably better than going to far left.. Because one needs to go straighter with mor carry down lane, and then more hook just at the end. so bowl on the far right and go straight.. Always watch lane conditions though

@@DarrenTang Oh yes it sounds like you've got control of it though and you are at least good enough to know what your doing to at least maybe get 5, or 7, And maybe 8, or perhaps 9 strikes a game, and the worse possible thing is you'll only get 6 or 7 strikes, or hopefully not 5 strikes, but I know that in this game we'll both have to just live with it even though I'll have just learn to accept a lesser game. But now I know that even if you get 7 or 6 strikes I know that you'll get your spares to salvage your game and my enjoyment in the process because I like to see strikes. And it seems that every time say I feel that Belmo is going to get a perfect game I always end up having to say: I knew he would end up with a 250 game, or less: 235 game, and I end up dealing with it. But now aleays remember that you have just as much chance of getting a 250 something game that Belmo does, and there are no other greater player, and if I didn't have one and one half foot I could probably take on pro players of today myself. and so we're all in the same vote when it comes to this game, and we have no better chance than anybody else. but that doesn't stop me from watching the ball as it evolves down the lane because that's how I learned my mistakes myself that I did years ago. But like the Heisenberg principle it's uncertain how it's going to roll.
Anyway like you said; it does depend on the circumstances of the lanes. I don't want to tell someone that they need to give it more room and slow down when the lanes are dry because then that would screw the game up for both of us: because I would see a crappy game instead of the awesome game you could have had if I'd just let you throw it hard and straight on a dry lane with a shinny ball like the active resince ball. Or I would tell you to use the Urethane ball, and not a strong hook ball because you need to make it hopefully down lane so that it can turn in with enough hook and strike. Well it seems like you won't let me down because you seem to know what to do. But always try and get down the lane enough before you strike. Although it's different with an oily lane then you might give it more room, and then your obviously not going down lane as far it don't seem usually. Well anyway good luck. hopefully you'll get a few perfect games in the near futre

I’m looking for a replacement for my proton. It has 2 highschool season on it and it’s absolutely dead. I would get another proton but they are like 250

I'm with you on your take on the Nova, I have not figured out any shot with that ball for my game. I've changed the Surface still nothing I get a ton of over under with it. I seem to struggle with Dull balls. Super Nova looks intriguing can I get a Bowers credit on my Nova all these choices get to expensive lol. Thanks for the Review and the Tutorial on condition and Windows on the lanes.
I drilled one a couple weeks ago and I cannot find a reliable shot on house oil. This must be a ball designed for sport patterns.
@@NotQuiteEpic does it Hook to much not Hook for you on the house shot? Or is it just very eradicate? With my Nova if I stay I side of say 18 to maybe 10 it's just not consistent at all, but if it hits the Friction of a house shit outside of 10 it takes off. Right now I have the Surface at 4000 Polished. Unfortunately it's been a disappointing purchase I maybe have 10 games on it and surface wise I've tried everything
@@stevenholland5024 It burns up all of its energy in the oil and then just pukes/rolls out. I hate trying to play/predict a rollout.
@@NotQuiteEpic sounds like alot of over/under I have with the Nova. I've had more success with pearl balls then solids except for the Phaze 2 but that ball is just ridiculously good. Sad part.is I see guys in my league throwing the Super Nove up 10 or 10 to 6 and because they have no Revs they crush it. I have Revs I just can't find consistency I bury a double, then I'm Light then right threw the Middle so frustrating

I purchased the Nova and wasn't impressed at all. Love the Phaze V. Wish I could get my hands on the Super Nova

Question: When you shoot a video like this, do you just show up and bowl or have them dress the lane for you? Have random families with kids bowled on that lane and stuff before?

As a new bowler, I'm stressing over what size to get as my first ball. This year I've bowled more than I have in my entire life, and have been using the rental 13-14lb balls. I also have been bowling without my thumb, but am also looking to change to using my thumb. After extensive research I think a 14lb ball seems better than a 13lb. I've told my pro shop to a Tropical Surge 13lb, but am thinking it might be worth the extra bucks to get a Super Nova or a Proton Physix. I am often curious as to what size are you bowling, any advice is appreciated!
I’m sure you’ve bought a ball by now but the tropical surge is a great ball if you’re just starting. For weight I’d recommend 15 pounds, most pros are throwing 15 or 16 but 15 seems to be the perfect weight
@@graysonrogers2798 Appreciate the advice, I went with a 14lb Tropical Surge, no thumb drilled. Although my scores are inconsistent, I did hit my first 5-bagger on my first day using it. It's been a couple weeks now and I've been practicing at least twice a week and earlier this week I reached my first 200+ score at 211. I'm happy with the purchase so far.

Why is everyone making these strong balls and we n my area aren't seeing that much oil
Bowling is definitely a guessing game for me lol and usually I guess wrong, but I’m glad to hear him say that far left maybe a “weaker” ball would shape better off the end of the pattern because I bought a “weaker” ball thinking it was going to be exactly that weaker but that thing jumps off the dry the second it touches it for 2 months now I thought it was useless but just yesterday I tried playing farther left and yawing that strong reaction off the end of the pattern and it worked. And it hooks more then my “stronger” ball I find myself now playing straighter with my strong ball and more angular with my weaker ball which makes zero sense to me. Anyone else feel this way?
The quotes should go around “hooks more”. Any ball can shape a certain way given the right circumstances. Your strong ball is probably using up too much energy early on, thus not having enough to create the “hook” you’re looking for.

@@Jgotcha187 so the thing with “weaker” balls now is that they go longer and are stronger off the backend if the friction down lane is there. But when the friction isn’t there down lane the ball goes a lot longer and doesn’t react anywhere as much left to right. The “stronger” balls don’t go as long and don’t have as much backend but don’t need the friction to move as much. If you only bowl on house shots and the “strong“ ball hooks more when you move left (or right if your a lefty) then that’s a sign it’s burning up (burning up is when your ball reacts to much to friction and burns all of its energy from the rotations you put on the ball, which in turn makes a ball die off the backend and look really weak). There’s a ton of videos going over ball reaction and the crazy technology that bowling has created (i recommend Luke rosdahl’s classroom series)
@@elijahpipkin4081 that’s very helpful info I’m just now starting to figure stuff like that out I’ve only been bowling for about 6 months and I’m also finding out my local pro shop owner is an idiot a 190 avg bowler at best so I’m almost better then he is just all the terminology and science of bowling makes my head hurt but with my stronger ball when I do miss in it doesn’t have a chance it hooks even in the oil but what I’ve noticed lately is just overall it doesn’t hook as much as it used to but at the same time over 6months I’ve gained almost 2mph on my throw so I think and correct me if I’m wrong, I think I need a stronger ball or put some surface back on mine what I throw now is the venom coral blue it’s a hybrid I’m looking into getting a solid ball

I have absolutely no idea what he is talking about. I go out and average 210 with my one ball (Hammer Nail) on what I suspect is the house pattern at my local lanes. This guy's got 87 balls with different covers, drillings, symetrics, shines -- of course he's got to guess which one to use. I'm not guessing at anything, because I've got nothing to guess. Just move around and change my release until it works.
