    Dude the keyboard tray mount. 💯 Why everyone thinks flight sims enthusiast don't use keyboards is silly. If monstertech makes a big keyboard tray to also fit mice, then I am sold.

      I used a Redragon K530 with a mouse on the tray. It was doable but not comfortable. Overall I found using the mouse extension tray off the right stick ideal for long term use. Monstertech now offers their version of the keyboard tray mount.

    Damn I’m looking for a setup but this looks amazing dude. I’m not gonna say jump in it since it’s alpha but Star Citizen has been great to play with dual sticks and face tracking. Now I’m looking at a full on setup like you have since these Thurstmasters have been drifting.
    But yea I’d check out star citizen they even have free fly weeks. Tons of ships and guns to try out during the events and each ship handles differently in space and in atmosphere. Joysticks make flying 100x better in it too.

      I also thought about to use a about 20% longer part for the piece you used to assemble the actual keyboardholder (40x80 custom part), to positioning 2-3 of the mfd- holders from Monstertech to put fire HD tablets 10.1' on (if they are in sale ;)):
      www.monstertech.de/produkt/mfd-tablet-halter-center
      www.monstertech.de/produkt/mfd-tablet-halter
      I like the idea to run different screens/fragments from GameGlass on them.
      I would be interested in your opinion about actual usage and stabilityof the idea. Maybe a 80x80 dimensions would be required to have enough stability? Would this maybe stabilize the construction enough, if not?:
      easy-systemprofile.de/Knotenplatte-N10-392.html

    • @MarcusValles
      @MarcusValles  4 роки тому +1

      @@CsRacerOriginal The 80x80 is 15 inches and 40x80 is 14 inches. You really need to consider the strength of your particular chair. As with my DX Racer it has a metal frame and all the added weight gave it some flex. I had to install the Universal chair mount for added strength. Also if you make the front end to heavy the chair will tip over.

    • @CsRacerOriginal
      @CsRacerOriginal 4 роки тому

      @@MarcusValles Alright thanks for the information. :) I will keep an eye on the flex-problematic, when atempting to rebuild a similar build by myself and also try to add the mfd-holders on it, which would increase the weight to front even more. I guess at some point i have to just try it out by myself and risk some climate unfriendly returns in a case of to much flex or imbalance of the whole chair itself.
      I gonna add that build to a noble chair Epic, which i bought as an replacement for my old chair and this project.
      www.noblechairs.de/epic-series/gaming-stuhl-pu-leder
      I am aware of your suggestion to add more stability to the build by using the univesial base plate from Monstertech, so i already ordered it and will add the parts to it, instead of, on the chair.
      One more thing about the required length for the keyboard holder you build...
      I have to use the FORM-1 plates for my build. If I am right with my thoughts, i'm able to reduce the length of the custom 80x80 part by around 1 inch because the plate is 30mm shorter then the FORM-2-plates, that you used for the dxRacer, i think?

    Bloomin' marvellous Marcus. You are obviously having great fun with all of this. I'm after a recommendation - I've recently bought the Virpil kit (top draw stuff) and now I realise there are two possible directions I can take.....either keep building up my flight simulation rig (like your chair, more hardware controls, etc) OR go straight into VR and presumably I wouldn't need to worry about buying all this extra kit and more monitors/screens? Your expertise in making a recommendation would be appreciated. J.

    • @MarcusValles
      @MarcusValles  3 роки тому

      Thanks John, these days I game primarily in VR. Aside from Star Citizen, hoping for VR support one day. I picked up all the extra kit before the current VR boom. I would highly recommend going straight into VR, especially if simulation style games are your main goal. VR takes Flight/Racing sims to a whole new level that most current triple monitor users won't appreciate until they try it. The Valve Index is my daily driver for VR in general but the HP Reverb G2 offers much better fidelity for sim games. Hope this helps.

  • @JohnVanderbeck

    This is very interesting to me because you literally came from the EXACT spot I'm in now, Warthog and Saiteck pedals, and went to almost the exact same spot I am considering, dual virpil alphas AND a virpil throttle. The only real difference is I want to also add one of their button boxes and some stream decks.
    How do you find the adaptation from HOTAS to HOSAS? I've tried dual sticks a few times using two T1600s and my brain has a lot of trouble with it. I'm just so hard wired for standard flight controls.

    • @MarcusValles
      @MarcusValles  2 роки тому

      I primarily play space sims so the transition was seamless for me. I actually struggle more playing a standard flight simulator. All my years with the warthog I wished for a left-handed stick of the same quality. I also play mostly in VR and use voiceattack for all secondary commands and flight functions. I also considered extra button boxes and the stream deck for functionality but I control all of that with voiceattack. Once you get used to using your left stick as a throttle everything else is just magic. I rarely ever use my throttle these days. Only dual sticks serves me better as I play in VR I never have to remove my hands and I use voiceattack for everything else.

    Hi, Awesome setup man! I'm thinking about getting the same throttle mount/addon as you (I already have the 2 joystick chair mounts) I'm just wondering if it is comfortable to have the throttle so far out to the left, If you know what I mean? Instead of having it straight in front of the arm rest like the joysticks for example? I have a hard time figuring it out, I don't want to waste my money if it's not comfortable to have it like that (I don't play space simulators, mostly playing Flight sims and using dual joysticks for excavators in certain games) so in flight sims I would have my hand on the throttle more than I would in space sims I'm guessing? (Please correct me if I'm wrong).
    But in the end, my question is: Do you think it would be uncomfortable to sit with your hand on the throttle for a long period of time when it is that far out to the left? Thanks!

    • @MarcusValles
      @MarcusValles  Рік тому

      I predominantly play space sims so dual stick is my primary setup. In the event I am going to play a long flight simulator session or some ace combat where the left stick is not in use I adjust the throttle closer to me. The luxury of this setup, loosen the throttle stand and slide it as close to you as you would like. Since the making of this video I have added the Flightstick Z-Extention to my left stick virpil-controls.eu/vpc-flightstick-z-extension.html for greater control in Star Citizen. To answer your question, my setup would not be comfortable for long sessions if you plan to use dual stick and throttle continuously. In Space Sims I use the throttle mostly for the buttons and switches. Hope this helps.

With some of the new mounting options Monstertech has right now I would get a larger mouse mount, two headphone hooks to hold my VR controllers and a stream deck mount for more functionality since I play away from my desk. @@MarcusValles I assume it would be the horizontal support where the hinge is attached, I re-watched the video, and saw @ 8:46 that would not be an option because the holes are engineered for that particular orientation, any rotation of the support bar would put them in a different spot and that would mean more drilling which it would be an unnecessary headache. Hi Marcus, that's quite a wonderful setup you have here :) I have a few questions for you as I'm going to build a very similar thing in my new home :
    Was it mandatory to remove your chair's armrests or was it a choice you made ?
    Adding the MTX Keyboard to a chair mount isn't a standard way to do things on monstertech website, was it your idea in order to have you keyboard closer to you ? Was it a monstertech advice ?
    And finally, why did you choose the MongoosT-50CM2 Base instead of the WarBRD one ? I'm hesitating myself :P

    • @MarcusValles

      The keyboard mount was my own design, monstertech is working on a solution but I grew impatient so added it myself. Not monstertech approved.

Pro Tip if you are in the US, order all your hardware from 8020.net/ it’s virtually identical and it will save you time and money.

    So to make those two Alpha sticks fit, you just put them on backwards?

      Yes, the bases mount backwards and the sticks connection can be rotated 180 degrees.

    Did you ever consider the Monstertech chair ? And why not ?

    • @MarcusValles
      @MarcusValles  2 роки тому +2

      When I first built my Chair out Monstertech didn't have their own chair yet, they also didn't have a keyboard mount available either at the time. I think they got the idea from me. If I replaced my chair right now I would most likely get a Secret Labs Titan XL over a Monstertech chair. I only fly space sims so the center cut out doesn't serve a purpose for me, the Titan XL supports 400lbs which is great because the chairmount setup is nearly 100lbs itself and I weight 250lbs. Finally is the price and shipping, I can get a Titan XL purchased, shipped and delivered in 2 weeks for about $550 while the Monstertech chair is $800, shipping for me is an additional $180 and I have to wait between 2 - 3 months for delivery. If I flew HOTAS more then HOSAS it would be worth the price and wait time.

    Is there a particular reason you went with mongooseT base instead of warbird base functionality wise?

    • @MarcusValles
      @MarcusValles  4 роки тому

      They are functionally the same, outside of the base plate. The mongoose was the most recent release, by design was made to be mounted and not table top. It also feels more robust in hand. Really serves the same purpose.
