- What is pericoronitis and what other complications can wisdom teeth cause? How is wisdom teeth extraction performed?
In this 3D video from Clínica Pardiñas (j.mp/cPardinas) we talk about pericoronitis and other complications that wisdom teeth and their extraction can cause. Among the main problems we find gum inflammation, extrusion of opposing teeth, cavities, etc. The different positions in which the wisdom teeth can be placed and their implications are represented. Finally, it is shown how to perform a wisdom toth extraction.
How to avoid infection after tooth extraction 👉 bit.ly/drysocketDT.
A wisdom tooth that erupts in a bad position can lead to pericoronitis. That is, an infection of the gums that surrounds the wisdom tooth, and whose symptoms include pain, inflammation, bleeding or bad breath. Wisdom tooth extraction solves this problem. But if the opposite tooth is not extracted, as it does not have contact with the lower one, it will gradually extrude, which may cause unwanted premature contact and again an inflammation of the lower gum. If the wisdom tooth is in a horizontal position, it can come into contact with the 2nd molar causing damage that can even end with the loss of both teeth. To remove a wisdom tooth that has not erupted, an incision is made and the overlying bone is released. Sometimes it´s necessary to divide the tooth in different parts, in order to properly remove it. Different materials such as Plasma Rich in Growth Factors can be placed in the alveolus, which accelerates healing.

If you’re getting your wisdom teeth removed soon, read this. I was in your shoes a few months ago and noticed the comments were full of people terrified of getting their teeth removed but as someone who already got mine taken out, I can tell you from experience that it was an extremely quick procedure and my recovery took less than a week. Now I’m someone that is NOT a fan of needles so the thought of getting an IV scared me but the nurses were super helpful in making me feel more comfortable and the needle is tiny and you actually don’t even feel it. The thought of getting put under also freaked me out with the whole “count down from 10” thing everyone says in their videos, but for me I was just talking to the nurses before blacking out and next thing I knew they were telling me it was over and I could leave. The numbness was weird but not a big deal and the pain was minimal throughout. Not once did I experience a dry socket, nausea, or any kind of extreme pain and sleeping was also pretty easy. I ate soup and pasta for a week before slowly and carefully moving on to more solid foods and flushing out my gums after eating anything. You’ll be fine and hopefully your recovery goes well. God bless.

Did you implant a prosthetic teeth in place of that later on? please answer this. Do we really need implantation in place of wisdom tooth after extraction?
@@danishmanzar8599 My personal opinion? No. My son had both his wisdom teeth AND his 12 year molars removed because his mouth was so small. Now he has a great smile. And judging by the size of him, he had no trouble eating either.
Wisdom teeth are one of nature's many human mistakes
Kind of... hahah
They used to serve a purpose thousands of years ago, back when humans had much larger jaws.
They were to accommodate the extra mouth space needed to chew on sticks and plants back when we were herbivores
Evolution will probably do its best to phase it out

Everyone gets a different experience when getting your wisdom teeth removed. Don’t just go by what one person tells you because you might have the opposite effect. In my case, all four were removed at once, and mines were growing horizontally. I was awake throughout the procedure, it took like 20 minutes or so. They numbed my gums and honestly the needle didn’t hurt when they inserted it to my gums. It’s the aftercare is what really screwed me over. My whole face got swollen and my cheeks bruised really badly. I didn’t go to school for at least a week and a half. I also fainted from the amount of blood loss I had.
Slasher_Foxy I got mine removed at 18 years old, go in for a consultation. Sometimes they won’t remove your wisdom tooth if it’s to close to a nerve so there’s lots to consider
@@rachaelg4861 how bad did the after pain felt and last? I seriously am scared of needles in my arm and I seen there’s IV available it sleeps you but I’m scared
@@x-Abraham-x2 tbh there was not much pain, since the numbing stays a bit after surgery & they give you meds for the duration of the aftercare. It’s more of the pressure you feel in the area of the incisions. You cheeks get swollen, and you can’t eat solid food. I can’t speak much on them putting you to sleep through this surgery since I was awake during my mine. The whole surgery was about 10-15 minutes too.
@@rachaelg4861 wow that’s a quick procedure was it for all 4 teeth?
I think having all 4 removed at once is wrong. Maybe you should've extracted at least 2 on one side at once. Wait until it gets better, and then get the two on the opposite side.
Got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday. The removal itself wasn't that painful but once the effect of anaesthesia faded away , it began to hurt. Swallowing food and water is kinda difficult now. Hope it heals soon.

I had my wisdom teeth removed summer 2007. My bottom right tooth was horizontal like in the video. The pain was worse than both of my labor experiences and c sections combined. In the middle of the surgery, my anesthetic wore off and I felt EVERYTHING. My tongue felt huge, so I clearly couldn’t talk. And when I tried to get anyone’s attention, they thought I was just freaking out. Afterwards, my throat was SEVERELY swollen, to the point I couldn’t take the Vicodin. And when I could finally take it, it didn’t even touch me. I couldn’t eat anything for three days. I got more relief out of Tylenol. :( it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. And to this day, almost 13 years later, I STILL have occasional pain on the bottom right gum.
And the dentist had the balls to send me a thank you card in the mail, for choosing his office. 🙄🤣 i was so pissed, I threw it away.

In my mouth around the wisdom tooth area. It may vary person to person. But i had unbearable pain. Now i ate med and feeling some what better. Swelling is there around my lips and cheeck area. Wishing for fast recovery.
For anyone having this surgery I recommend that you take augmentin, profinal xp and solpadeine while putting ice cubes and eating ice cream intensively because it will extremely help. I personally had one of the most brutal and painful removals ever (had to be injected 3 times with anasthesia during the procdure because the initial doses weren't enough and the pain kept coming back. Also, my operation lasted almost 2 hours but the aftermath wasn't extremely bad because I extensively applied ice cubes while taking meds (that's the most important part) . Goodluck

Got this procedure last week, first days where difficult but 6th day it gets almost healed
Watching before I get my wisdom teeth removed
I am 26 and had all 4 removed on IV. Both my bottoms had come in totally horizontal and I was starting to get infections from them but the tops were fine. The extraction itself was very smooth. I did not feel a thing once the laughing gas was put on. Recovery seemed to last forever though. My swelling and bruising weren't exceptionally bad but the difficulty in opening my jaw was frustrating and extremely hard psychologically. Swelling did go down a ton after day 3/4 and jaw function started returning around day 7 (but that could be because the nurse literally prayed my mouth open to remove the stitches). I was terrified of getting dry socket but thankfully did not. I stuck to liquid food until day 5 (that's the dry socket danger window) and mushy food for a solid 10 days. Eating was slow and annoying because stuff gets stuck and you cannot rinse aggressively. Liquids are also extremely unsatisfying so make sure you add fats like nut butters etc to smoothies to feel full. I tried to delay taking Advils until I couldn't stand the pain anymore since I read that NSAIDS delay healing. Looking back, I'm not sure I'd do that again since it took me 2 weeks to feel okay anyway- so the pain might not be worth it. I took the hydrocodone at night to ensure I didn't wake up from pain in the middle of the night. I had to keep taking the advil until the 7 day mark and very sparingly after. The last time I felt the need for it was on day 12. My teeth were also extremely sensitive but that goes away too. I am around the 2 week mark now and bottom sockets are slowly but surely closing. The top sockets never gave me any trouble or pain. I use the warm saline water syringe religiously and honestly, not using it after a meal is really uncomfortable. I also advise against sleeping on one particular side every day. If you do, one side may heal faster than the other causing discomfort. The recovery wasnt easy but I am extremely glad I did it. Good luck to anyone trying to push themselves to get their wisdom teeth removed and make sure you choose an experienced surgeon that you trust.
I'm 28 and i have a wisdom tooth that has decided to finish erupting through the gum in an uncomfortable position. It's painful so when I have the money together I will see if I can have it removed. but I realised the pricey one's were reasonable because they will conducting the surgery that much more comfortable than what I'd go through with that free one. after all, I'm on 2nd days of my post surgery right now, glad that I can eat atleast chicken porridge & mashed potatoes even it was hard to swallow things because my tongue feel numb & even sometimes I can even taste my own blood 😅 & had to prepare several cold packs just incase it will bleed again. now I'm reconsidering my next wisdom tooth surgery, maybe next 2 month.

My CT graph shows that my root is pressing onto the IAN nerve, thus the dentist warned me that there is a 5% chance of severely damage it during the process of pulling it out. He recommended coronectomy which I did yesterday. The dentist cuts off around 80% of my wisdom tooth leaving the root in and stitches the gum. In the future if the root migrate and cause issues, I may need to remove it again, but by then it will be much safer since the migration tend to shift it away from the IAN nerve. Most of the time, if the coronectomy procedure is done well, the root will be dormant and there will be no issue. Hope anyone who wish to get their wisdom tooth remove do a thorough check up and conduct a proper scan to minimize a lifetime of pain and regret

I don't remember feeling any pain with my wisdom teeth. I have all 4 of them and caused me no trouble at all. My dentist said my jaw and mouth are deep and wide enough to accomodate them all. She didn't suggest removing them as they are fine.. Lucky me, I guess.
Thx I'm in so much pain but it's good to know
Im watching this after may impaacted wisdom extraction today. Im okay, im glad I survived the pain. Its painful but handled it with teary eyes and sometimes I shout.

I wana know what the first sign you start to feel when it the wisdom tooth starts growing
In my case i didnt feel anything until my dentist suggested me to remove them
I'm scared for life;-;
@Roblox Parkour Runner Anime is top priority.
The gum on the back of my wisdom teeth is like growing higher so when I chew my tooth on my top jaw pressed on it so it hurts Everytime I told my mom she said I'm growing a tooth
I just had removed my both upper and lower wisdom teeth and m in massive pain. Not sure why they are called wisdom.
Bc wisdom equals pain
They should've called dumb teeth because they're probably too dumb to grow in right.
How do i know if i need my wisdom tooth removed?
Your dentist will tell you if you need to have them removed. There are several factors that indicate its extraction.
The extraction wasnt the worst part, its the recovering part for me. Got my wisdom tooth extracted 3 days ago. Local hospital so i didnt expect them to use high technology. They just use anesthesia but i was fully awake. They pulled out the tooth less than a minute since mine was in good position. Didnt feel any pain at all. Then im ready to go with just antibiotic and 2 tablets of painkiller bcs my dentist said "i wont be giving u painkiller bcs this isnt a big deal u wont feel pain hehehe" and slowly the anesthesia starting to wear off. I had to buy painkiller by my own and until now i dont know which part of "u wont feel pain" that i dont understand. I had to take painkiller after waking up, and before going to sleep bcs aint gonna have sweetdream without it. At some point im starting to remember my sins bcs its so painful i thought i might hurt someone this bad in the past. And I drooled like a lot while sleeping and my saliva smells like shit poor my blanket :') Yeah swelling is normal but i hate how chubby i look rn. I did follow all the dos and donts for post extraction care but still i have to experience all of this. So whoever gonna have their tooth extracted soon, worry about the recovering process not the extraction process btw its just my experince hehe all the best!
This was well written. You have good writting skills.
I heard when wisdom tooth remove it will cause bad breath? is this true?
One time I had to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed and my appendix removed in the same exact week it sucked so much and was in so much pain
I had c-section 2 years back, and now I have to undergo impacted tooth extraction in 3 days and I am scared to death.
Savitha Naveen are they close to nerves ? How are you now ?
I just got all 4 wisdom teeth removed yesterday I didn’t feel no pain at all today I feel soar from my cheeks but nothing I can’t handle!
i’m in SO MUCH PAIN OMG
Are you good now?
Watching this while I’m feeling a lot of pain 🥹🥹🥹
My wisdom tooth hurts real bad like the video but I don’t want
To get my wisdom teeth removed! It looks painful
It’s done with local anesthesia so you shouldn’t feel pain.
My wisdom teeth would hurt so bad I would cry, then they quit hurting after awhile but would cause severe earache. The worst pain and my ear would swell up closed almost. Had to take Advil and Tylenol together. I finally had mine removed a few days ago. Healing sucks but my ear quit hurting.
Headed into surgery today, wish me luck!
Good luck!
this was my second day of wisdom tooth extraction and came here for some mental pain relief😁
How are u now?
@@rrr1592-f3g great Raj and thank you
@@jeenathnisha5234 my wisdom tooth is removal is on 29 oct.. my age is 24 and I m very tensed... Plllzz just tell me your experience.. is there any need to worry??
Ask your doctor if you can take Ibeprofun the day before the procedure. My doctor recommended this to me and I think it prevented a lot of potential pain/swelling I could have faced.
This video is much better compared to the real life operation ones 😂😂
It's better for explaining the process :)
Getting mine removed tomorrow and I am terrified
oOf, getting my fully impacted wisdom tooth out tomorrow, so scared for it
Somebody how was it ? Was it painful?
@@anastasiiarokocha3318 the surgery was painless bc i was full under bc they used general anastesia (please escuse my bad spelling). The recovery prosses doesn't really hurt exept for the first day if you dont take a nurcotic (one hour after the surgery is when the pain kicks in, but then it stops after the first day). Im just annoyed that i cant eat things i like and am a bit sore
No dang dental insurance and not enough income to get mine removed and they are infected, like 8/10 can't eat type of pain for weeks. This *sucks.*
Omg I’m growing in my wisdom teeth right now and this vid my made it seem more scarier
So if the tooth is impacted and horizontal and will be stitched after the surgery , are there any chances pf a dry socket ??
You're not saying anything about the risks of removing a horizontal wisdom tooth, if the tooth is near the nerve endings and damaged during the surgery, you may get facial paralysis!
Mine are horizontal. Thanks for scaring me
@@riri5pink try to find a professional maxillofacial surgeon, i got my both horizontal lowee wisdom teeth removed and im fine it didnt affect my nerves he told me they were far from where he was touching. You will be fine ♥️
Mine is horizontal too and the dentist told me about that risk of facial numbness
They always have to tell you about risks. If your roots are on the nerve then you are at higher risks. I was told i was at very high risk of nerve damage so i delayed it for 2 years living in anxiety of it. On day of my surgery, the surgeon said it should be pretty simple which it turned out to be.
