  • CUMNOCK
Cumnock is a Victorian looking town in East Ayrshire and lies at the confluence of Lugar Water and Glaisnock Water.
Along with several nearby towns, including New Cumnock and Lugar, Cumnock has a strong industrial past.
The centre of the town is home to the magnificent Old Church, which was built in 1867 and the Mercat Cross, which dates back to 1703. Built in 1899, the visually pleasing Crichton Church lies to the south of the square and is built using orange/red stone.
The founder of the Scottish Labour Party, James Keir Hardie, worked as a journalist in Cumnock, and a bust of Hardie can be found at the front of the town hall on Glasnock Street.
