I lived in Kilwinning, we used to go to Saltcoats for shopping occasionally. Went to the Regal cinema, the light bite. In 1978 my dad paid a visit to Harris of Saltcoats and bought a new hi-fi system. We had friends (McClelland) that we visited often up in Ivanhoe drive.
Well done Phoebe, great wee vid. Brought back so many memories. Good memories of places I used to go with girlfriends, places like cafe Melbourne, the Saltcoats baths, the “monkey walk”. Thanks for this.
Brought back nany happy memories as I lived in Stevenston in my childhood and had aunts and cousins in Saltcoats. At one point my father was msnager of La Scala cinema in Saltcoats. I hope to visit Saltcoats at least one more time. I now live in Ireland
I have many happy memories of Saltcoats when I was a kid. I particularly remote long walk in the sea before the beach dropped and the sea got deep enough to swim in.
She speaks the truth. It’s changed so much it’s so sad. I don’t even think that people want to go abroad it’s just that there’s nothing for families anymore in Saltcoats.
I have always loved our wee toon, it's just a petty no one takes pride in it anymore especially the council they are to busy spending the money on Largs.
is the caravan park still there we use to go every fair travelling on the train you could pull the strap on the train window which opened it right down we use to stick our head right out it use to crap yourself when a train came in the opposite direction great days never to be seen again when life was simple ❤😂
