Great lesson, thoughtfully done. I like the way you take the time to repeatedly show in different speeds and breakdowns. Thank you very much, job well done!
Great tutorial. On that intro with the sticks on the rim doing the horse trot, make that last note a flam and you will have it nailed exactly the way Frank Beard does it.🫵🏼😮 The way I first learned it was phonetically by saying these words as I played it: A drag and flam, a drag and flam, a drag flame, a drag and flam...
OK some loon in our band decided we should try this song. We are having more fun playing this badly than some other songs we do well. Great, great lesson, lots of work ahead for me as I am playing the ride, snare and bass drum differently....oh and hi-hat but it sounds good but with practice, will correct it, thanks.
@@E7MusicSchool Thank you. I have got the sticking right now on the rim intro and bluffing the rest with the band. Will work alone on each part. Shin burns after playing it three times in a row tonight but we love it.
@@E7MusicSchool yes, I am using heel down on this one as felt more in control. It is better heel up now but still a bit ragged. Such a great fun song to play.
I hated playing this song. There was no youtube to help back then. I figured out that the right hand was just doing quarter notes but my right hand always wanted to do what the right leg is doing during this shuffle. It didn't sound bad and really didn't matter in the garage or dive bars. At one point I thought maybe he was just doing quarter notes on the bass drum too and I was making it more difficult than it was. But yeah, this shuffle beat was more work than I liked hah.
Love the way this song is taught. Consistently impressed by Jeremy and the way he teaches drums. First video of his that I came across was him teaching Iron Man by Black Sabbath. Also a great video to checkout by Jeremy as well. Thank you Jeremy, I really appreciate your videos and your style of teaching my man! You are a freaking awesome drummer, videographer, and teacher🤘🏻
@@E7MusicSchool yes!! Thanks! Do you have the whole drum cover available to watch? Now I have the lessons down, would like to try to play along with it
I prefer playing it with the hands alternating between hihat and snare so that you´re automatically stressing the correct counts and you`re in the flow for the toms...and, yeah, to show off a little, I guess! Great Texas Shuffle btw!
Thank you very much. You've come a long way from the single camera and white coat. Still overwhelms me, but the way you walk it through and give easier ways to just play with the song when it does overwhelm you is helpful. Plus saves walking away from the kit and not returning for weeks, which I've done. 😁
Kid Rocks All Summer Long. Always liked the groove from Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon. Again just like the slow walk through approach showing each move on the kit to get the beat. You don't assume like other content providers that we should know a certain aspect. You seem to approach it like we just picked up the sticks. Which to me is very true. Like I mentioned before, I need a song to play to when practice great frustrating. This song made it fun and felt like I was still learning with a different beat.
@@michealboscott1615 Awesome glad to hear that. You would LOVE the membership as it covers the whole song. Too many kool videos are out there but offer no explanation.

This song can be played so many different ways. This is definitely a challenging option for most drummers. Let me know how it goes?

And you can also make it better by inserting one or two beats into certain areas of the main chorus. Signed-Richard.
6:45 i don't get your sticking recommendation - for me it would be much more natural to go rll on the toms.
WOW - GREAT breakdown - THANKS very much
just really enjoying your tutorial....but you have to many options for people, in all do respect...
