    I don't have a clogged tub, let alone a house with a tub in it. But when I do, you best believe I'll be prepared for that moment when it gets clogged! Thanks for the video, it's clear you're a guy that thinks outside the box, and is happy to help save people hundreds, if not thousands of dollars!

    This worked like a charm! Man you've saved me 2000 bucks since two different plumbers told me they couldn't unclog it and wanted to open up my ceiling to replace the trap. Thank you so so much.

    Thank you for taking the time to post how this tool and process works. My husband and I spent a day working on a bathtub clog until I found your video. I immediately sent him to Home Depot and clog was pushed in less than a minute. It took me longer to set up water hose!

    Thanks for posting this. We had the same problem. We used your setup with the exception that we used the
    Drain King 1 1/2" to 3". Also, the plunger didn't work for me. So I used our drain stopper to plug the drain and within a minute I felt the pressure build up and relieve itself. After that the water was draining out of the bathtub. Thanks again! Saved me a plumber call =]]]

    Hey i need to come back and thank you for this video because i tried everything i could find on UA-cam and still my tub and toilet was not fixed... 😡 i was ready to call a plumber the next day because i and my family could not use the toilet , it all came out in the bathtub! But fortunately my wife found this video of yours and i said last try and if it didn't work i was going to call the plumber and i know these plumbers charge a lot i mean a lot and they come up with some another issue and beef up the money like the car dealership, you go for a simple oil change and they tell you more problems and try to get more work done...anyway i followed your instructions and guess what? IT WORKED!!!🕺yeah.... You helped me save a lot of money...that bladder just cost me less than 15 dollars. So thank you my friend.

    Every month or so we get a backup about 12 feet down the piping, even with a hair trap installed. Snaking is no longer effective neither was the flesh melter our plumber buddy used. Will be trying this today, the tub currently is not draining at all

      Update: it made it worse. My plumber says the house is plumbed wrong to begin with(previous owners cut corners on everything), so even if I have a drain guy come fix it, it will likely come back again.

    If a bathtub drain is probably installed, it will have a vent pipe connected going up inside the walls .. that flush bag may work if the clog is before it gets to the vent .. if it’s after the vent , the water will just go up the vent pipe instead of hitting the clogged area inside the pipe ..

    • @DoItWithDave
      @DoItWithDave  3 роки тому

      For this particular tub the vent was teed off from the sink. I know exactly what your explaining as I had water overflow from the vent line on a kitchen sink. I ended up putting an additional bladder in the roof vent opening. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.

    Will this work in the overflow tube if the drain closing mechanism is present?

  • @TobyCostaRica

    Could you hook this up to the shower hose?

    • @DoItWithDave
      @DoItWithDave  5 років тому

      If you are referring to a removable shower head attached to a hose I don't think it would be a good idea. Just because you might not get enough pressure but also if you were able to get a fair amount of pressure the hose itself has a vinyl lining and will burst under to much pressure. If you are referring to hooking up a regular hose to the pipe that extends out of the wall that the shower head attaches to than I'd think it would be able to provide a fair amount of pressure and not burst under load. I hope this helps.

    Can put in main tub train. ??

    • @DoItWithDave
      @DoItWithDave  4 роки тому +1

      You can try that however the reason for using the vent line is to create back pressure while using the plunger. Putting it in the main drain and using the plunger on the vent doesn't allow you to create pressure on both side of the drain connection. If you aren't able to get the cover off you could try taking a small wet towel and stuffing it on the bottom of the cover opening, then put a couple of inches of water in the tub a plunge it. I hope this helps.

    Once I removed the cover plate there was crossbar that prevented me from inserting the bladder. Can that crossbar be removed somehow?

    • @DoItWithDave
      @DoItWithDave  2 роки тому

      Does the cover have a center mounting bolt? If so it sounds like the crossbar is an adapter plate. Is the crossbar mounted with a screws on the edges?

    • @DoItWithDave
      @DoItWithDave  2 роки тому

      This was the only reference image I could find of an adapter that doesn't have set screws. It looks like it can be removed. Looks like it clamps in place by the ends that go over the overflow pipe. I hope this helps.

      @@DoItWithDave My cover plate has 2 screws @ 3&9 0'clock, just like in your video,. Than there's a crossbar like a little 4-way tire iron. Maybe it's threaded and can be unscrewed?

    • @DoItWithDave
      @DoItWithDave  2 роки тому

      @@taradactyl5690 so I wasn't able to find anything showing an example of what you have however you may be able to remove the crossbar the same way you'd remove a tub drain fitting. The only thing, is the crossbar on the back side of the tub and if you can remove it can you secure it as not to let it fall behind the tub. Also if you can remove it and the overflow pipe has mounting holes if the crossbar does fall behind the tub you could just secure the cover plate anyway. Sorry if I could see it I'd have a better understanding of what you're working with.

    All that work for a tub drain clog ? Get a damn snake and be done with it

    • @DoItWithDave
      @DoItWithDave  4 роки тому +1

      Snaking is definitely a good option almost every time however the waste pipes for most Florida homes with a concrete slab built in the 70s get this black gel like build up and I have found this to be the most efficient way to clear them.
