The listening tests should be blind tests to avoid any potential biases. Just the massive price differences will skew your judgment whether you admit it it or not. What I’d love to see is listening to each without knowing what speaker is being used, critique the sound quality and even try to guess the brand.
agree with u...what a bad review they r doing
This is not a game. we need to see a speaker and hear it in action. no need to guess which speaker it is, its a silly idea that makes no sense. see and hear something you like at the price point you can afford? buy it. good luck and try to stop silly games.
I couldn't agree less. Excellent point made.
Well what the point in hearing a good sound but not having the cash to buy it?
That is a brilliant idea blind sound tests 😦
I just purchased the Motion X600 last week to add to my Bluetooth speaker collection and it is a total 5 star.
I just bought one yesterday and it should be coming in anytime soon!😁
If you have enough Bluetooth speakers to collect, how would you evaluate the x600 model? In terms of price performance? How would you rate it out of 10?
I love my sonos move. It works so well with all types of music in all scenarios. Such a flexible speaker.
The biggest takeaway here is Louie has a huge bias towards the Sonos and Ellie has a bias towards the Marshall. Therefore, it comes down to B&O and Soundcore. It's also convenient that one is the most expensive and the other one is the most affordable.
But what about JBL and DeVialet?
And here I have to be sincere in sound quality terms, not because bassy or who is louder but I’d put all these six in this order
Devialet Mania>B&O A5>JBL xtreme 3>Sonos Move>Marshall Middleton>Soundcore x600
Totally agree. I don’t like very much the harshness of the A5 when you pull that volume up
Personally, A5 sounds the best in terms of clarity, sound separation, and even bass
Boys are standing next to a walnut speaker with minimalist spikes and a anodized black finish and one is picking something that looks like a garbage can in an office and the other is picking what my 5 years old will go for! Yes people have different taste, but there is bad taste. you lost me at min 3!
The Soundcore X600 is an overhyped, bright, harsh sounding speaker that's all mids and highs. I'm returning mine to Amazon.
I would think sound quality/clarity/fullness of the music should be weighted and count for more. Because after all, why does one buy a speaker? 😊
For me the soundcore and the A5 had the best sound, that bass went through my head with the others. The soundcore just had that clarity so for me that was the one.
Lol 😂
@@alanrossreviews why do you lough do i even have any of these
agreed👍🏿
my Devialet Mania just arrived today. absolutely phenomenal
I wanna buy onem but...Can it be used within a google home setup?
Great choice. That speaker is growing on us more & more.
For me the Harman Kardon Citation 200 would be a good Contender. I had the Sonos Move and Marshal Middleton the Winner was for me the Citation 200.
Would like to see the UE Hyperboom thrown in here to see how it fares. I've just bought one and i'm loving it so far.
I couls buy like 4 X600 before buying one of the expensive ones here and have a party in evey part of my house and x4 audio capabilities.
Soundcore is killing it with their speakers and at a great price
exactly 😅😅😅
Unfortunately, I feel that going into this "comparison" both of these guys had their personal favourites earmarked for victories which probably added a half a point to a full point to each and every category they were compared in. So take those 2 skewed scores away and I feel you at least get an unbiased comparison between the remaining 4 speakers.
So on one hand, the comparison is biased right out of the gate in my opinion. However, as I am not a fan of either of these two guys favourites, as I don't like either the aesthetics or branding of either Sonos or Marshall and would not have considered them anyway, I am taking away a completely unbiased opinion on the 4 remaining speakers. Which was helpful.
The fact that the Soundcore was even in a comparison with units priced as much as 5 times higher and held its own speaks more to its bang for the buck than anything else.
For me, it's the clear winner.
Cheers
Beosound A5 bass clipping -> TURN OFF "Loudness" in the app. Software is super wonky this early in product lifecycle. "Loudness is meant to amplify bass at "low volumes", but the software does it at high volumes right now. Known issue in the beta
I think, putting the "Value For Money" comparison between Premium speakers and "standard " speakers is a bit unjust for the premium speakers. I think you should compare likewise priced speakers +/- 100 to 200 bucks. That would really be interesting to watch. For portable speakers, I might add the price point to be like $700 to $1000 . What say?
I agree. That’s like comparing a BMW to a Ferrari. Stupid comparison and it’s very biased.
Marshall Middleton has binaural audio I love mine but I’m biased and I crank the bass and treble it sounds amazing
Thanks for the great video guys coming all the way from the US. It gave me an opportunity to research all these great speakers and decided on the devialet mania. Have it on order and should be receiving in a few days. Thanks!
How was the experience?
Should have gotten yourself a Diamondboxx L3 at that price.
I got the xtreme 3 and it's the most balanced sound I've heard in a while in a speaker, all frequencies under control without excessive mids and upper bass specially with those complicated songs that gives me headaches with other speakers, and I can listen to it for hours without having a hear fatigue at half volume, even with a flat equalizer
nice video guys - although, can you help me? I am seeking for speaker for around 200 usd but I got used to Bluetooth LE that was able to enable speaker while it is switched off via Bluetooth. Can you recommend some speakers with this function? I had it on my Bose SL Colour 2 but firmware update bricked this function :/ and it is out of warranty, now I seek for replacement with more power and I want to avoid Bose Revolve due obsolete USB and BT technology - thaank youuuu !!
I got the A5 and I must say that listening to it is really an impressive and immersive feeling. In terms of quality, it does a similar job than my Samsung hw q990b (it has a dedicated sub and 22 speakers) although power performances can’t match at high volume, it does match the quality and consistency and for a mono speaker. It is very capable. blind folded, you wouldn’t know right away the difference. Tested in WiFi with songs that are in 24bit 192khz even tho airplay does not support hi res lol The Bluetooth sound quality is outstanding as well.
Do you think it's better to buy A5 instead of q990b and use it as a sound bar... Because I Care about music
@@mohammedalanazi492 nah, the soundbar will have a better quality overall, especially when plugged in e-arc, check if your tv is compatible and u need hi res files or streaming app, check other sound bars bc the Samsung isn’t made for music even tho it perform very well in all areas with the right settings.
Can you please review the Brane X Smart Speaker. There are no reviews for this speaker on youtube.
I don’t know, I was recently disappointed by the Sonos Move. I’m not really an audiophile, but I do like Hifi and have had tons of speakers over the years. I think your review of this was impacted by it being a Sonos rather than the sound it had.
The bass was okay, but the bass response range was the big let down. Also, listening at higher volumes the bass really drops off.
The best sounding one across the videos was the Devialet (especially for the EQ I value). I’ve never even heard of this brand before so going to try to hear it in person or do more research as I returned the Sonos move.
Honestly, I was really just hoping Apple would add a battery to the Homepod and slightly improve EQ. Instead they removed some speakers and re-released the same thing as the original…😅😂
I like the Apple Home Pods (I have 2) but like you I wish Apple would put a battery in it and make portable.
@@mikequinlan9585we just had a power outage and I remembered I bought one of those jackery portable batteries. Definitely not as nice as an all in one solution, but I wasn’t really looking to take this to a beach, just to my backyard patio and didn’t want to run an extension cord.
It works and if you already have a portable battery, it’s a decent solution. I have a 350watt portable battery and the HomePod uses less than 10 watts of electricity even at max volume.
If fully charged, that will theoretically give me 35 hours of playback. It also has 2 120v outlets. So even if I was using both at max volume it’s close to 17 hours of use.
If you don’t have one, you can pick one up for relatively cheap (depending on capacity) and obviously have other benefits for the portable battery aside from powering the speakers.
Hello folks: my biggest concern is the plug jacks or all sticking outside from the unit.
I have broken 3 Harman Kardon go- play also 2 altec Lansing M7. One B&O wedge frist generation, i spilt mod the unit into a three peice.
The power jack input jacks each init got damage.
This is how I rate durability.
The HK go play sounds very good when plug into wall socket.
Ride Easy
Just got the newly released Klipsch Gig XXL-- great option slotted in between the JBL partybox 110 and 310!
The Devialet mania really is the most stunning looking to me. On a side note, I went into a Marshall rabbit hole after watching the video and I saw the new Marshall Woburn III has an HDMI arc connection. It’s gotta be bizarre using it as a soundbar, but now I’m curious if you’re gonna review it 😅
While Mania is looks good, it is also more prone to physical damage due to exposed woofers.
Maniac. Maniakis. Horrible and stupid design and material.
hdmi port on a speaker is so weird.
Love the comparison! Which ones are stereo and which mono?
Great video, I really enjoy watching these comparisons, however I really believe we are missing some great contenders like Bose, Harman Kardon, Sony, etc
Can they all be paired to left right stereo
Finally, a good tech channel. I'm so tired of sifting through bad tech advice.
Value for money on B&O is like 2. You can buy Xtreme 3, Middleton, soundcore x600 +more for the price of a $1100 picnic basket.
Could have included the Hyperboom. Amazing speaker.
For these prices, you are better off going with powered Bookshelf speakers (Most of which now have BT) if you prioritize SQ over portability.
Hi can any of these speakers pan left through right in a stereo field?
Or can 2 devices be linked via a 3.5 lead as well ?
Ie I want to use for portable audio recordings.
Peace.
It’s all about the sound for me, the rest is waaaayyy down the list, so give me the A5 please.
I love that you are reviewing these in front of a wall you likely wanted that has the same style as the B&O, but neither of you picked it as your favorite design 😊
Huh? 🤔
@@My_Work_Here_is_Done.. The B&O speaker that wasn't their favorite in design is the same design as the wall behind them. Vertical lumber with gaps.
No.2 from both of you... that means was the No.1 mho:)
Sonido espectacular .
Why did Harman Kardon not make it to the table?
Why no HK onyx studio??
You forgot to review B&O Level, One Speaker to Rule them all. Love it. There is no equal. Everything else is a TOY. And the price reflects that. 10/10 for me.
It is a very interesting comparison. But using some electronic music does not really help to hear any difference. Without the pure track knowbody knows how the music should sound like. With traditional instruments I could at least hear if they sound like a guitar, percussions or a piano.
Tengo el Marshall Midleton, para mí es suficiente, es portable, buen sonido, no es ruidoso, es sonido de alta calidad para disfrutar de los sonidos de instrumentos y de la voz
sound quality is the most important aspect for all time.. thx
Exactly. It's a speaker 1st, the sound quality is everything #1, then what's the rest.
Addressing portability. On paper they may be portable but by their design aesthetic, ergonomics and robustness they really are not. In terms of aesthetics I think the JBL ranks in the top three. I personally do not like hard lines, boxy structures and sharp edges. Non only that but things which have edges will show their age over time as they get bumped. They also don't pack nicely into bags which for most people the primary way of transporting these devices.
If a speaker is wireless and really intended for indoor use then one might as well have constant power delivered to it. And if we go that route we should probably integrate lossless audio.
X600 👍😎
Hello.. Do you guys have a review between Samsung Giga Party MX-T50 and JBL Party Box 100?
Thanks...
It's very unusual to be discounting a portable speaker because it doesn't suit your home decor, I only use my Bluetooth portable speaker when I go camping, to the beach or when I visit friends or family who don't have any decent audio system.
The speaker usually gets placed on the ground usually in grass or sand and some distance from where everyone is gathering.
So my choice is the original JBL extreme as it has the volume to deliver a concert like experience especially when paired with another one in stereo and placed 10 to 15 metres away. If you want a small speaker for your home just get a Sonos era 100 or 300 or setup outdoor speakers if you want sound by the pool.
How about Fender Riff and Sonos Move 2 , plz?!
Sonos move for me hands down.
The B&O is stunning looking, and I'm excited to see what Sonos do with the Move 2 coming out soon 🤔
Move 2 should be stereo sound vs mono
It's nice, but it kind of looks like a picnic basket to me. It would look better without the handle. It sounds great on the video though, and it probably sounds much better in person. I wouldn't even consider it for the price however, unless I won the lottery. I want 2 speakers for my patio, so I can pair them in stereo. In Canada, that would cost me $3600 for the oak versions. I can buy a real mid-range stereo system for that. lol B&O are nutty at that price point.
Why would you include the JBL Xtreme instead of one of the JBL Authentics? The Xtreme 3 is a portable party speaker made for the outdoors, it's a really weird pick when JBL makes speakers made for what you tested.
Onyx studio should have been introduced too i give the jbl 9 out of 10 bro👍🏽
Why no testing a UE boom product?
Did you use any of the Eq's? as it changes everything.....
It seems that the administrators of this channel have not understood the importance of comments.
Honestly i never realized the Devialet Mania was so tiny! All the marketing material i never saw a piece where it was beaide its competition or in someones hand. I have to rethink this speaker now.
Trust me don’t let the size confused I just ordered
I only use B&O products. I still will never go any other way. Yes I agree they are very expensive unfortunately!
And just as you saved up ready to buy they add 25% to the price. Many of the current range have risen by over 50% in the passed 12 months as model move up to be affordable only by the 1%.
Just clicked on the video and knew they’d simp for SONOS, I wasn’t wrong.
It came second last for one of them...
If the A5 is to expensive, take the Beolit 20. superb sound quality for half the price
and 4hour battery life with price tag of 400$ hahaha that a big joke of portable speakers
For me the Beolits are not good since they don’t have multi-room. I like to play music around the house and be able to take the A5s with me on trips and to the pool. The sound quality of the two are very similar and if you don’t own other B&O products, two Beolits for the price of one A5 is the way to go 😉
Between A5 and the mania which do you think has better separation, vocal clarity, details, clarity, and just overall sound quality?
Vifa Helsinki, Oslo, Minirg 4s with minirig sub are the few which kill the Mania and A5 for sound fidelity in the same size, you could maby even go with something like a Soundcore Boom 2 with Oluv's eq or just wait for few weeks until the Earfun Uboom X is announced as it will very probably be the nicest sounding battery powered speaker ever made...
Don't forget about the performance boost in A/C mode from the EXTREME 3. Going from 50 -60 watts in battery mode, to 100 watts in A/C mode when it's plugged in.
Most people tend to overlook this feature more times than not.
Feature?😂 The extreme is a portable speaker. If you want a speaker to be plugged In most of the time get another one the extreme is outdoor designed. Sobi would always compare it on battery because that's it's the idea be hind a battery
@@emanrov It's another feature that should be accounted for pertaining to overall value.
@@jedolivier2688 I can't denied that I just think it's a feature you shouldn't have to use to get the best out of the speaker
The X3 doesn't sound any different when plugged in. I have one. It's not a very good speaker. Weak bass
You're confusing the x3 with the bb3
Sonos move for sure
I bought a Sonos move and it is being delivered and it will arrive on Wednesday
B&O sounded the best over UA-cam to me with Devialet a close 2nd. Going to look for 2nd hand ones.
I have Sonos Speakers throughout the whole house. I also have a Sonos Roam which is amazing for around the house and on the go. I have been looking at getting the Sonos Move because at the beach, the Sonos Roam does not seem to get loud enough for a full group to enjoy. It is also very directional which poses an issue depending on speaker placement. With the sound of waves and the wind, the sound drops off significantly at very short distances from the speaker. I have a friend who has the JBL Charge 5 and it is quite a bit louder than the Roam, so I was leaning towards the Charge 5 or Xtreme. I may have to buy them all and test for myself, but 360 sound is a must for my use case. I am hoping the Sonos Move is good enough for me so I can expand my Sonos Ecosystem!
The Beosound A5 is a far superior high end loudspeaker. The Mozart software platform is only running at 50% according to B&O with vast amounts of great features to come on software updates!
What more could be done in software for the Mozart platform? After over two years you still can't use these speakers for watching video, UA-cam or connected to a television. Other manufacturers in software updates go the latency on wi-fi down to an acceptable level. There are more things to do in software in going multi-channel for placement of each speaker going up to 7.1. Adding WiSA to Mozart would be a whole new world for Emerge, Level, A5, Balance, 2, A9 bringing them to Beolab 28 and 8 connectivity and features.
@@geraldmcmullon2465That’s partially true…You CAN watch latency free on them if you airplay from an AppleTV. I have a pair of Balance and they sound amazing for their size. To your point, it does have a tremendous lag when using optical 😬 (I only use optical when playing music)
How is this a speaker review that does not address the Codecs of the speakers at all?
The devialet overall has a shit ton more bass and the B&O overall has the most ballanced sound listening to the videos with the best possible pair of headphones the skullcady crusger evos rated as the bassiest headphones on planet. They can very accurately depict the bass. Of all the speakers on the list
Great review
Soundscore X600 is best👍
What is the point of using 10 point system if you are only going to use 6~9 and add .5s to scores. Be more bold and use 1~5 system and clearly show which one you like instead of muddying the system. In the end, the result wasn't very close but you just made it look that way.
Otherwise, I found the comparison helpful especially with the sound sample
W-KING bluetooth speakers unbeatable so far price/quality
Totally disagree about the JBL not being a home speaker sounds amazing to me and I still have the jbl extreme 1
Yeah.. They are comparing a speaker that’s made to be fully portable(inside and outside) to way more expensive, indoor only speakers. It’s not a good comparison tbh.
Really helpful thanks gents.
That B&O is gorgeous but at a grand on Amazon Im looking at it now its just a bit much but damn I do have a weakness for B&O but that price tag..I had a Denon system with B&O speakers & that was only £1200,in fairness that was in 2004/5 but for a bluetooth speaker I dunno I think B&O are being a bit cheeky myself even coming from someone who doesnt have an issue with the B&O premium name I think £999 for a blutooth speaker should put the final score at around a 5 or 6 even though I could still tell the difference through my PC (which has B&O speakers) I just couldnt justify that price tag.
The Marshall though at £122 is what I think Im going to go with & it'll sit nice on top of my SeriesX
Can anyone tell me is the soundcore really worth it? Or am I just being marketed at, because it’s being advertised to on everything randomly.
For the price, and sound quality, it cannot be beat. I love mine. It wipes my jbl charge 5 out of the water.
Funny thing about jbl speakers is that they advertise durability and waterresistance but their speakers never lasted longer than 1,5 to 2 years for me.. bought a beolit in 2016 and aside from needing a new battery it still sounds absolutely amazing, even though i roughed it up a lot. Marketing and a rugged design language don‘t mean a thing if the product doesn’t deliver longterm
what you recording them all off axis for? wtf?
Thanks for the comment, we use a 3Dio Free Space Binaural Microphone that simulates the ears / human head, this is placed directly in front of the speaker as you would listen to it in the real world. www.raycom.co.uk/product/3dio-free-space-xlr-binaural-microphone/
@@smarthomesounds yes im aware you are using a binaural system that is only rated from 100hz up. Its hardly mimicking the hunan ear sadly as it isn't using a head trunk and not the best couplers. However my point is your method favours speakers with no tweeter since being directional and looking down at a 45 degrees angle will mute the tweeters to an extent. You should know that this dummy ear set is not a human ear and does not hear sound in the same way as your ears do. Have you tried on and off axis and listening back to which sounds more realistic. Im interested in your research that shows people sitting at a table some 4 foot away? Is the most popular listening scenario.
Interesting showdown guys. For me, the overall choice would be the Sonos Move - best bang for your buck taking everything into account, including the price.
Sorry Mate, the JBL has lasted since purchased 2018 and still rocking….. And There You Go!
At least the Marshall has an audio Jack witch in turn allows you to you's the bass and treble equaliser that's built in.
How many other speakers have a built in eq.
Try the Garvastar Mars pro design 😂
Bang for the buck x600 all day^_^
I think the best looking is Jbl.The Xtreme 3 is a piece of art
Diamondboxx?
Worth to subscribed!🎉
Although the B&O A5 is looking stunning, I would go for the Sonos Move anytime. That’s why I have one at home!
Listening to this on my $35 Tozo PA1! LOL
Great review on all speakers guys. For me the Devialet Mania has the best sound and look by a long way. Can't stand the look of the picnic basket looking B&O.
Why am I getting picnic basket from the B&O…?
😂 thats exactly what i think of it. Sounds great but cant stand the size and sight of it.
In term of design
B&o 10
Jbl 4
Sonos 3
Marshall 5
Devialet 7
And that last one 3
B&O is the best looking and stylish 👍... ı have jbl ...good but sausage style design makes it little bir boring...
I choose China made XDOBO premiums speaker. in Tight spaces. but in more open 🌌 JBL Brand. More in Crisp Sounds and Clarity. 💯🔑💪🏁
Why nobody talks about Harman Kardon Aura Studio 3
Your scoring system is not good / doesn't have me convinced.
You seems too safe with your scoring, even to the point that you seemed to copy each other.
Also, everything was rated 5 stars or up, so you didnt even make use of half of your scale.
Your video and audio is great, so please improve your rating system for me to value your opinions more.
Set out some ground rules, share them with us / your audience and we will value your opinions so much more.
Thank you.
They should’ve compared the bigger Marshall speaker. The Middleton does not belong in this category
Exactly 😢
Can the Devialet be used within a google home setup?
X600 is dbest...
Tôi đang dùng sonos move2, nó là phần nâng cấp đang giá hơn trước sonos move1
