Ford. 1. Better styling 2. More Power 3. I've had better luck with Ford than GM over the years.
Best looking GM trucks from 67 to 72
And ford solid frames Chevy's all 2 piece
Although GM has been lacking in flashiness when compared to Ford and Ram, they really have the features that true truck buyers want. For example, the bed step/tailgate feature is a huge help when getting in or using the bed. Additionally the amount of tie downs in their beds is fantastic. The fact they have widened and squared off their beds to give more room is a huge plus. Nothing comes close to them when it comes to towing features. The camera views, heads up display and towing application is simply amazing. It can definitely be said that GM put more focus in truck use features than in luxury features. For me that is fine cause that is why I drive a pickup.
Ford introduced the bed step way back in 2004. GM made fun of it in commercials. Now, over 15 years later the tailgate step is the best thing since sliced bread in the GM commercials.
@redd7188 Fords are great trucks. All I’m saying is I feel GM put their focus in different areas than Ram for example.
@@taylorrose9779 i agree, and all trucks are nice. Can't go wrong with any of them.
redd7188 That “man step” is not as practical as bumper steps which you can’t even use when hooking up gooseneck, and GM even made it better by adding bed steps. But if you payed attention, GM had those bumper steps on 2002 Avalanche (and bed storage which Ram copied and called them “ram box”).
@@Dekkar4 we were talking tailgate not bumper, so maybe you should pay attention.
The big plus is the Auto option on the 4wd selector that the Chevy has. The Ford is like a RWD car in 2wd and the steering as we all know is ridiculous in 4H, it could have benefited a lot with an Auto AWD selection.
Ford
1 more power
2 longest lasting
3 more comfort
4 looks better
5 had sidesteps
6 Full panoramic roof
7 has auxillary switches
8 mirrors way better
9 doesn't have a switch on the dash to accidentally drop the tailgate while in motion.
10 can get massaging seats in the Ford.
11 tremor package on the Ford
12 FORD DIDN'T TAKE A GOVT BAIL OUT!
New 7.3 gas engine in the Ford!
Keep adding to your list more brakes more Transmissions more front tires chewed up more out of balance more alignment problems constant searching for the right gear on and on and on not to mention numerous warranty problems talk to the people that manage fleets of these vehicles you'll get the real facts under real world use
You forgot to mention that obama "borrowed" money too... oh and since you're talking about looks ford has always looked ugly their front ends have been ugly for years
chevy is more reliable
@@jasonreevesjr1323 🤣
I'm in the minority it seems but the Chevy looks better overall. I think the Ford looks a little dated in and out. But I would take either one.
Yeah they’re usually 2 years late to the game like they were in 2015-16 then in 2017 they finally got back into the competition and it will be the same with the super duty’s new generation in 2023
@@bigreeezy Nah Not Really.
Ford Looks Way Better.
@@1500Chevy their dated looked the same for 7 years no
You must need some new glasses! The previous model Chevrolet was a good looking truck. The new module is horribly over styled. And what’s up with the mirrors?
Ford all the way. I've always owned chevys. I recently bought my wife a 2019 chevrolet tahoe. She loves it, but I always think to myself that all the materials and build quality have gotten so cheap. Then Chevrolet rolls out this frankenstein truck. My first thought when I saw it, was that's ugly as hell. I'm looking at the 2020 Ford F350 for my next purchase. It's a beautiful truck with superior power.
I couldn't have said it better myself. The Ford is by far a much more superior truck.
Yes it is! Also, the Ford will have the new 7.3 gas!
I wish ford will partner up with cummins, that would be awesome.
Willie Bowen I like ford because they are made in the us and gm trucks are made in Mexico which the only cars that were made in Mexico was the pt cruiser
The Ford is an awesome truck. No comparison really hands down
Dude thought was talking to the bois lmao “Manual adjustable bois”
Ford all day💪💪💪💪
Duramax takes it that tuning with the 6.6 Duramax and the 10 speed is best in class no doubt
chevrolet rocks the styling i love silverado the most . who gave the idea of that face of the silverado man damn it looks aggressive . that is what a beast .
I love the look of the Chevy. It looks like a Beast.
Fugly!
Richard West I do also I would get the Chevy Silverado HD Over the Ford Super Duty
Harley Jackson don’t talk about your self like that! You are beautiful 😘
Love that Ford, but I just don't see anything special about the Chevy. They keep updating it, but it always falls short of the Ram's and Ford's. Then for Ram and Ford, it's just a "who can update their truck first". When Ford updates their truck, it will be better, but when Ram gets redesigned, it will be the better one lmao
Ford's always best!
The Ford 7.3 gas is going to take alot of market share from chevy and fiat!
Fords better but idk about ram being better than chevy
Ford all the way!
Power and Torque means absolutely nothing unless you can put it down properly Silverado puts power down way more efficiently than the Ford
Who cares how the truck looks. I’m a ford guy myself I think chevys are fast and built for play. The duramax is a wonderful truck but when it comes to work and no bullshit give me a ford..
Chevy! 1. More reliable 2. Designed more practical for user. 3. Looks better on the road
I would disagree...
Lol! Chevy reliability is awful. They look awful also.
Chevy u forgot 4. 2 piece frame !! 😂😂😂
Don't think you know your ass from a hole in the ground....Son!
@schmitz... AKA Stevie Wonder
I like both Chevy and Ford. Chevy's exterior is aggressive and Ford is playing it safe. But I don't know which one to go for.
My favorite trim levels for the Chevy Silverado 2500: Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country.
My favorite trim levels for the Ford F250 Super Duty: Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.
You missed showing off the best trick pony on the Chevy. That LTZ had the technology package and you didn't show the Heads up Display. I drove both (along with the RAM 2500) and in the end went with the GM product. But as you say, it's close. Very close. But the technology package and sheer number of cameras in the GM package helps. When a trailer is attached, and you change lanes, the camera for that side is enabled which let's you be double sure there is nobody in that lane (although to be fair so does the lower mirror).
Assuming I had the scarole to get one of those, it would be the Ford. I used to be a GM person, Chevy and Olds, but after a 2009 Suburban with AFM issues, I gave up on GM. They used to make the best trucks, but that day is long gone. BTW, beautiful scenery.
I've been telling people past couple years gm/chevy makes absolute GARBAGE these days....and then service writers are rude as fuc%
Ford will have my Business also.
I have both these trucks. My f350 is limited and my 2022 black chev LTZ is exactly like this. The Ford is better looking inside but I like the chev better which shocks me. Once chev updates the interior no truck will even come close.
Ford number one.💪💪
Yes in recalls!
Yaaaaa ford fan
Ford has more torque however the rear end is smaller, thus that torque is not transferred on a one to one bases. The Chevy has a larger rear end. I believe it is 12’’. Thus transferring the torque one for one. Thus they seem to be the same amount of torque at the rear tires.
Those Michelin’s are one of the best tires, if not the best you can buy for those
Much better ride with those, who goes mudding with any of them trucks anyway.
Wicked backdrop for a truck review
42 years of best selling truck! Ford!
Not really chevy had a better truck lol
Yes chevy is the best it's way more cheaper than the ford but it looks fabulous for its prize . Ford doesn't fit for its prize as I said always Silverado is a beast .
@@smithvr4669 its not cheaper. fords are the cheapest besides dodge
Chev all the way
Jim Benoit Agree
I have a 2020 f150 5.0 V8, but I can’t choose once I get into the HD and Super duty trucks.. both are so good.
Ford no comparison more power !! And one piece frame unlike Chevy's 2 piece frame !!
The front end of the Chevy looks like a 1980 International Transtar Eagle cabover.
redd7188 kind of
@@BenHardyCars but is a amazing truck very reiable i own one
Lmfao
The powestroke is a lot more practical. That panoramic roof ,the woodgrain, and side step was the 1 up.
Chevy. Better durability, better fit and finish, better resale.
Maybe 20 years ago. But not today. That nice pretty Chevy your in love with will make the dealerships keep fully staffed mechanics. My father in law in tampa had to get a new motor in 2018 duramax 3500hd with only 20k miles!!!! Bad pushrods!!!!! He has since traded it for a new 2020 cummins 3500hd
Ford is better than Chevy in trucks

No ben hardy... ford doesn’t just barely win...ford is superb hands down. Yeah the chevy is consistent......consistently crap!
Nailed it!
Double click and it goes down and up click again and states there’s no function to go up smh 🤦♂️ yes there is lol
JR then why didn’t it go up when I clicked it🧐🧐🧐
It started too and then you clicked it again and it went back down, it’s on your video Ben replay your video. Play this video.

Under the hood the Ford firewall heat shielding looks well applied and real insulation stud retainers. The Chevy looks like some weekend racer pasted and wrapped it up. My take is the Chevy is going to have thermal degradation issues on some of the components
Exactly . Along with electronic issues and engine issues. That chevy is pure junk. My brother works for a chevy dealership in tampa and cant believe how many duramaxes are coming in for electronic issues and engine issues under warranty
Yeah, I would definately get the Ford!
Incorrect. There actually is a function to raise the Silverado tailgate... you hold the tailgate button on the key fob or barely pick up on the tailgate and it will automatically go up. Also, how can you choose between the two without driving them. You chose the Ford because it has more power? Just because the Ford has slightly more power doesn’t mean it tows or performs better. It’s all about how the power is distributed.
AHA 1987 tell that to the ten speed transmission.
And who needs to have a tail gate that gets lifted up like bruh
Finally a logical answer. Most “power” doesn’t always equal best towing experience. How does the truck handle the load? Suspension, braking, etc. How is it shifting, cornering, how is the trailer brake controller etc. Both trucks have tremendous power, but how can you choose a better truck without actually driving them? That’s where the Chevy shines IMO.
Should've actually driven them, then you would pick the Chevy because the Chevy has a smoother ride and tighter turning radius because it has independent front suspension.
A.k.a. weaker suspension
My question would be maintenance cost? Ford has been traditional cab off for many repairs. Does chevy or GMC compare? Also Ford DPF systems have lots of problems. GM DPF Problems? I've always been a GM person but currently own a 2011 Ford 6.7. many of the issues with the Ford engine or even underhood have been hard to get to is this the same with GM newer models with DPF?
I have owned both. The Ford by FAR out does the chevy in the interior. But for Chevy definitely wins the exterior
I Agree you are right I have a 2020 ford f250 lariat powerstroke fully loaded and I would never trade it for any other diesel HD Truck
The GMC 2500 Denali for me please
I just got the SRW Denali 3500 and absolutely love it!
@@Alexander-fr1kk you should go take it back: ua-cam.com/video/LXv7yaCUtQw/v-deo.html
Ben you should watch the TFL episode with those Michelin’s, they outperformed a lot of other off road tires. Looks can be deceiving
Ford, they are built 100% in USA and cost about the same as a GM built in Mexico. So why are GM not cheaper? A maximum of $8 per hr for labor in Mexico , and average of $28 per hr in USA.
I’m a Ford guy but I will say Ford builds their 6.7 engines in Mexico so not 100% US built.
8 dollars in Mexico is about 176 pesos that’s a very good salary for a person that lives in Mexico
I’m a Chevy guy I will spend my money in the new 3500 Chevy then in a Ford F-350
because they are better trucks. Fords look outdated and the shape has been the same forever. Also interior is outdated
Chevy's front-end looks so bloated, it makes the whole truck ugly. The F-350 looks so much cooler
Rearview mirror camera... on the Chevy truck.
The tailgate will automatically go back up you hold the button in.
The truck that allows you to put the trailer dimensions in the GPS system will get my vote. I don’t want to pull my 12’-6” tall trailer under a 12’ -0 bridge.
0:04 in my opinion the view is more beautiful then the trucks. God I cannot wait to visit the great state of Utah.
Utah is a great state with a lot of beautiful women. Overall the people there are extremely nice and I'd love to go back there for a second trip.
The new Duramax is uglier than a fart in church!
I'll take the Ford. The Chevy front end looks horrible.
The Chevy 1500 higher end trim level front ends looks far better than their 2500HD and 3500HD.
This is the ltz which does look weird.. but the other models look alot better not to mention the gmc's
Chevy last longer fords have u on the side of the road
Lol another butthurt chevy moron. Look around you next time your out for a drive. You'll quickly realize 95 percent of the older heavy duty trucks still around are superdutys.
Jodi Reid-Wilhelm that’s not true chevys are really good trucks this is coming from a ford driver too I’d love to have a Chevy they look badass! But I do love my ford too
the high country 2500hd and 3500hd is nice tho
I'd buy the Ford but without all of the bells and whistles that are on that one. I do a lot of driving so I need a very comfortable seat to sit on. I have a Chevy right now in the seats aren't comfortable and it's a real problem. I also think the Chevy a kind of ugly and I don't Buy Ugly trucks.
I choose Ford however it mainly is because it has the side rails. I am short and the truck is for me. Thanks this has helped incredibly.
You should of took the trucks for test drive to see the difference on the two trucks
Ford
-Reliability
-Style
-Performance
When doing comparisons, I find that a lot of media outlets gloss over the difference in highway ride characteristics between the two vehicles. The Ford is one hell of a truck, but there is no doubt that the same solid front axle which makes it a workhorse in the colder climates within the United States as snow plow trucks, detract from its ability to eat up road irregularities when compared to a GM truck with an Independent Front Suspension (IFS) - like smaller 1/2 ton trucks have. I bring this up because I feel that suggestions about which truck to buy should heavily depend on whether or not this truck is going to be a day in and day out work truck, or if it is a vehicle that is just going to tow from time to time and otherwise be a be driven around empty. If I was someone who was a general contractor but did not plow snow and had a boat on the weekend, I would absolutely go with the GM - If I were a landscaper/snow removal contractor or Mason in the NE I would go with a Ford. Just my $.02...
Dave Van Etten what makes you doubt IFS?
It’s not that I doubt independent front suspension, if you are plowing snow and have an extreme amount of weight over the front wheels, the control arms and other components on the front suspension tend to fail quicker than a solid front axle set up. I have several friends who are landscapers and plow snow over the winter months who exclusively drive Fords as they have experienced issues having to replace front-end suspension components on GM trucks. If you are not plowing there is absolutely no problem with that independent front suspension. In fact, I would argue that even with the shortcomings in power and interior quality, I would most likely get the GM over the Ford for the independent front suspension and the ride quality associated with it.
Good job ben the Chevrolet looks like the 1983 famliy truckster on national lampoon's family vacation and the ford does have it going on so no sudden changes go ford!!!!
You should have used a platinum version of the Ford to be able to compare with the chevy LTZ. To me, this isn't a n accurate comparison of features. However, not a bad video. Thanks!
High country and platinum would be the correct trim comparison. This is an equal spec/trim comparison
@@wigertoods8901 High County and Limited are more comparable
@@AngelLopez-do2si Incorrect. The Denali series from GM is the comparison to fords limited.
Chevys fit and finish is way better. That ford steering wheel is very hard plastic on the volume controls etc... and very old. chevys is smooth and soft and I love the heated steering wheel button on there.
The Ford steering wheel is leather. Also I noticed your avatar, how do you feel about GM giving trucks to the Hillary Clinton campaign and head of GM Mary Bara being listed as a possible running mate for Hillary Clinton? www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2016/10/gm-ceo-made-clintons-list-vice-president/
LOVE my f350, would never switch!
You may reconsider that statement when your CP4 high pressure fuel pump fails and spreads metal throughout the entire fuel system and costs over 10k to fix. If you own a Ford trading it in before 75k miles is worth considering. Good Luck.
Them Chevy Silverados are some ugly trucks
They are the modern day family truckster.😂
I’m not picky!! I love all 3 trucks, Ford Chevy or a Dodge!! Great job America!!!!!
I buy the most American, Ford!
You have to hold the button and the gate goes back up
Ford tremor is the true offroad. Stomps the competition
The new Ford Tremor will take alot of sales from Government Motors and fiat.
Chevy front end looks upside down lol
I like how Ford is their own company, there's no one higher up that owns them calling the shots.
On the Chevy the tailgate goes up on its own with key fob or if you pick it up a bit
Omar Rivas didn’t know that
Ben Hardy come on Ben. Watch tfl before you do a review lol
Mike Hodgens I’m not really into grandpa’s truck reviews.
Several additional data points: Chevy has All Wheel Drive Feature - no one else offers. Chevy’s ride is substantially smoother than the Ford due to different front end suspension philosophy’s. Ford shows what gear the transmission is in in your information cluster. Both Ten speed transmissions are buttery smooth, but first year production gremlins need to be watched. Ford is a power beast, Chevy more civilized. Both had 2020 production and supply chain challenges, while Ford likely faired better. Chevy to catch up in 2021.
You Mean Ford Has The One No One Else Offers. Nobody offers Rear Diff Lock Like FX4. It’s Also Better At Off-Roading In General.
chevy needs to up there game powerstoke has more power
These trucks did just fine with half the power/tq just 10 years ago...remember?

Yes powerjoke. That's why the superdutys have the highest resale value. The chevys are throw away vehicles. They fall apart once they start approaching high mileage. All these trucks will break down time to time the difference is how often. Worked as an ag mechanic for years and now currently aviation mechanic. Owned multiple chevys and spent more time in the shop then on the road. Bought my first superduty and will never go back to general motors....There really is alot of misinformed viewers watching these videos....not to mention always some chevy guy bashing the ford.
I have the exact chevy with running boards.
Chevy is killing it 👏
Tell that to the U.S. taxpayer. We bailed them out and they moved to China. No mo Chevys for me.
Huge thank u n I appreciate that 👏
@@harleyjackson5513 funny how ford borrowed money also... but none of yall want to admit that was an excuse for a bailout
I'd buy the Ford because they use paint on their frame, while Chevy still uses a wax coating which is more prone to rust.
In general the ford will hold up better in terms of rust because of the aluminum body and painted frame.
Easily the Ford Powerstroke wins!
Does that pig snout on the hood actually feed air to then engine, or this that just "glam" crap that comes along with the "package"?
What is the difference in ride quality? You had both vehicles side by side.....
They are about the same
Big monster angry chevy is the best
GM doesn’t warranty their fuel system in their 100K mile warranty....
FYI you should research what these trucks can really do.you put up the chevy tailgate maully.that button brings the tailgate up and down automatically 🤦
You cant just go by power and torque numbers
I bought the Chevy High Country DRW because,
Ergonomics of the drivers seat, for me personally. Ford seats aren't good for my back.
Auto 4WD is a really nice option.
No pano sunroof. Mine on my '16 broke on the track...$2500.00 fix. The one on my chevy it tried and true...but I don't use it.
I say neither. Because Google has a payment calculator.

Even though Chevy has higher tow rating the ford 3 min faster up Ike with gas motor
Ford diesel still faster up Ike verse duramax in TFLtruck
Chevy’s look is very bold you either like it or you don’t.. I don’t
I do like the step bumper on Chevy,I do like side step on bed of Chevy. Ford missing both.
I do like Ford rear tail gate step better than Chevrolet less moving parts
Chevy camera better but don’t really help me when towing more than Ford set up
Yes Chevy interior is not as nice as ford.
Never like brakes on my Chevrolet truck always had to push them harder
He neglected to tell the viewers that the Silverado has a full power up-down tailgate.
Thought I saw it go back up for a split second. That’s a cool festure
Personally I would buy the Ford F350. The reason I would chose the F350 is honestly because of personal preferences. My grandfather worked for Ford so it kinda runs in the family buying a family branded truck. However, if I were to name three other reasons for choosing the truck over the Silverado it would be its towing capability, the amount of ports available (i.e. theirs two 400w outlets unlike the Chevy) , and its sheer looks.
Chevy 👊👊👊
Love chevy's exterior and Ford's interior. I pick Ford because i am a inner beauty person. Ford has the true inner beauty for its faster and strong engine and fuel economy.
Good points
After driving multiple Ford vehicles for a living or in the course of my job over 30 years the Chevy wins hands down Ford's have way too many warranty issues
I agree
Agree, my 2017 spent more time at Ford dealing with warranty issues than my Ram has ever and I've owned 3 rams and 1 ford. It's also a pain i found to get ford to warranty anything.
chevy looks really good and alot better
Love both ngl.
I'm quite a Ford guy myself and I really like the updated Super Duties but I don't mind the new L5P's(well maybe except for how harder it is nowadays to tune 'em)
But until Ford would give manageable savings with their dealers, I might honestly go with the L5P just from the value proposition of the truck itself with its lower msrp + rebates + other discounts currently available.
Ford also has rebates!
The resale in the ford will be better. The chev will be rusty in a few years and the ford will not. The ford interior looks better also.
good video Ben Hardy and I think I agree with your close call conclusion. Two great rigs, but I think I would have to drive them both before I could decide. I did that 5 years ago with the Big Three + Tundra when I was in the market for a full size truck. I wound up buying a 2015 1500 Silverado High Country with the 6.2L engine because I liked how it drove. Now that I'm in the market for an HD, I will do the same. It's important for me how a truck of this size corners, accelerates, shifts, how it turns in 4x4 mode, and how well I can see out of it. This class of trucks is now supersized. You need to know how to handle a big rig turn radius just to park one of these. Towing set-up and assist features are important considerations. There's never a good time to wreck your $75K HD truck while towing your $180K surf boat, not that I have that kind of boat yet. You get the point. Tow cargo is valuable. Creature comforts are mostly comparable between all of these $50K to $75K rigs. They will all do the towing job. They will all be +/- reliable (but you could always get a lemon no matter what brand you buy). If you are looking and have the $$$ to buy one of these things new, you probably won't own it for 200K miles. You'll have the coin to get the next best thing a few years from now. There's great used towing trucks out there, but some of them have a lot of towing miles on them! I'm not interested in buying a used 2018 RAM 3500 that's got 150K miles as a professional car hauler.
If you want oil problems get a Ford if you want bad Axles get a Ford
