Hands down, absolutely the best video instruction I have ever seen...and I've watched several hundred as I am exploring various arts and techniques. This is the tenth video that I've watched with Lisa and her presentation skills are top notch! She worked slow enough to see the technique, yet keeps moving through the processes making it go fast enough to keep interest. Her detailed instruction and concise explanation of why she does things a certain way left no questions following. Thank you!
Thank you very much Andrea for the glowing review. We always appreciate receiving comments on our videos whether it is praise or constructive feedback. Thanks for taking the time to let us know how we're doing.
I can finally use all my foils! Thank you Lisa!
I think it looks cool with the lil speckles and spots!
I lake...thank you ...from spain
loving this.
I need help! I can't get the foils to stick to my clay (Premo). I've conditioned the clay and i'm burnishing with a paper under my finger for at least 60 seconds each attempt. Only tiny bits will stick. I'm pulling back the foil just like in the video. What could I be doing wrong?
My trick for small cutters with clay is to dip cutter in water before pressing into clay. If it still pulls up the clay you can blow it out into your hand. You can let it air dry or dab gently with a tissue.
Great tip!
Hi love this thanks for sharing. Just a quick question, how do you Store the rolled foiled pieces? Do I just put them on parchment paper then in to a air tight bag? Or just in a air tight box?
Any help appreciated
Thank you Lisa.
As the colors of the foil fade when we cure the pieces in the oven, I wonder whether it was possible to apply the foil on cured clay, perhaps with the use of some liquid clay ?
We've never tried that, but it would be worth experimenting with.
.thank you!
You're welcome!
I know this is an older post but I've check the website and cannot find the foils?
Hello, unfortunately the foils are no longer available. Perhaps we will have them back on our website in the future. Here are the foils that we currently have available on our website: www.firemountaingems.com/shop/mixedmedia_sheet
Lisa, where did you get the little hand drill you use. I didn't see any at Fire Mountain.
Hi Jeanne, we're not sure what drill you're talking about. This video used clay cutters and an awl.
Can you use your foils on other things besides clay?
Great question. Yes, the craft foils can be used on paper, wood and glass as well.
Fire Mountain Gems and Beads Oh wow - it's so super simple to apply - better than the others that require glue to stick. Thanks!
There are so many talented people who've done this 30 years ago.
what happened she was going to show us something on the rainbow foil clay then it was the end
How is the best way to clean your pasta machine/clay roller?
Great question! I don't clean my machine per say anymore. I pick up any debris from the base of the machine and surrounding area. As for the rollers, wiping them underneath the guide blades only pushes clay residue back onto the rollers, which ends up on the next color of clay you roll through. I find the best way is to run some scrap clay through several times to help pick up any contamination that may occur, especially if you are using a firmer (more crumbly clay). I no longer worry about small amounts of other clay colors, I just blend them in as I condition and usually it's not enough to significantly change the color of the clay I'm working with.
I find that a paper towel folded and dampened with water, but sometimes alcohol if it's really dirty, and just run it through on the thinnest setting
what was the setting for the black thickness

ALL you need is Black Clay ... ... ... and to buy foils from my website. So do that, wait for shipping, THEN once you have all the supplies you need come back and watch this video.
