Hey dude, Finally learned to do a tripod headstand without wall support this week, with definite room for improvement in form. Eventhough I'm pretty satisfied with myself for how far I've come, achieving this just made me belive more in the fact that if I put mind to it, pretty much anything can come within my grasp. The fact that I'm able to do things now, that I thought was impossible, is pretty cool. But the more things I do and moves I unlock, I know internally that this isn't enough. The hunger grows. I think everybody who's progressing can empathise with this feeling. So imma keep on grinding and keep on going hard at it. I wish everybody that is on the same journey the strength to keep progressing. Just remember how far you've come, and how long we still have to go. So thanks for this amazing playlist dude, I will work thru this playlist and hopefully can achieve a proper handstand in the near future. Cheers, Akshay
Just yesterday I was trying to do a headstand without any knowledge. Today I watched this video and I actually got it down right ! I’m super happy, thanks for the vid.
The best handstand tutorial I could find... The transitions between steps are realistic... I don't think anyone has given out so much tips and advice for all the steps... The same things go for your L-sit tutorial as well...
Even with a carpet and an extra mat my head still hurts when I do headstands, last time I did one tho was a couple of months ago, I got pretty good at doing press to handstands
I literally shocked that i can do it straight away, like what and it was so much fun actually! Thank you so much this video is amazing it help me a lot
So i have managed to do the frogstand and i can hold it so here im Today i tried this headstand i have got to admit that this is a hard one but om not gonna give up this dude is amazing im sure i can do the handstand with these progressions this guys is my favorite
Tip if you can't get your hips up: I was unable to move them at all, but then I had my husband stand behind me (so I had both him and the wall). Literally first try I could do it---realized I was just tense and afraid to raise them without extra support!
Hey ! Once again, thanks for the tips! I finally got my tripod stand today yayy!! 🥳🥳 Although I am like 1 inch away from making a straight line but I can straighten my knees without a wall and its a lot of progress till now! :D
Thanks! You actually can roll out of it but the timing is very tough. As you fall you need to tuck the chin to your chest and round your back. It’s best to stay in front of a wall until you’re confident, and when you move out in the open put a pile of pillows and blankets in front of you for a while.

I went from not being able to do this at all and within 2 weeks or so of just messing around with it I can actually do it pretty well. Didn’t see this video until today
JH Anime Piano rather than stopping, just try to train safer. When you're venturing out away from the wall, always make sure the area around you is clear of objects. You can also lay a pile of blankets/pillows to cushion a landing. I have some pretty funny videos of me early on crashing down hard on a dog bed 😂
I had the same issue and it was just that my head wasn’t used to the sudden rush of blood from being upside down. If you consistently practice resting your head on the ground from a frog stand position, you’ll eventually adjust. Could take weeks, but it’ll happen.
Maria Klaudia I'm glad you found my video :) I had the same problem. Make sure it's the tip top of your head on the floor. And spend a lot of time in the position where your head is on the floor but knees still resting on the elbows (frogstand). Practicing that regularly will build the strength in your neck.
Two things you can do. First option is to keep practicing. The backs of your arms get used to it after a few weeks or so of practice (at least mine did). The other option is to rest your knees on the outsides of your upper arms so the knees are not digging in at all. Lots of people like that second option 😊
Legs bend at the knees and feet come back down to the floor the same way they went up. The feet may fall fast at first, but as your core strengthens you’ll be able to bring them down gently.
Heya, thanks so much for the tutorial! I already did the frogstand really well bcz of you :) However, I am having trouble extending my knees in headstand. Whenever I try to do it, I fall over...Hope you could give some tips, thanks!
It takes a lot of practice. Have patience and be persistent :) My best recommendation is to practice it a few inches in front of a wall so you can’t fall backwards, only back down to your feet. As you extend the knees, press the feet up towards the ceiling to gently contract the thighs, plus tighten your core. Eventually you’ll find the “sweet spot” where you can extend the knees, squeeze the core, thighs and glutes, and feel that tension holding you inverted in front of the wall without even touching the wall. And once you can consistently hold it in front of the wall like that, then you’ll feel ready to move away from the wall and hold it out in the open. I hope that all helps, but biggest takeaway is: practice :)
@@qwaskdhklfadsdesx5165 yea if you squeeze your abs and core they will provide more stability. If you are still unable to do that then they are too weak
Hello. I have a question. For some time I have been practicing this progression but I seem to be stuck. I am have no problem bringing my straight legs up but I fail to bring them down slowly (even when I bend them). They fall to be honest. Any advise? And also thank you for your great videos.
@@joesid3153 Thank you for the answer. I dont know. I thought, that my abdominal muscles are ok since I can lift the legs without problem but you can be right. I will keep exercising I guess.
Tomáš Husa yeah I was finding it difficult to know whether I was weak on my balance and stability or I was purely lacking the strength but the more you work on your core the more likely strength and balance will come. Conversely, id also recommended focussing on your lower back as this will aid with the negative contraction of the movement alongside your core 👍
Hello and thank you very much for this playlist! Ihave problems with my neck and do not want to make them worse, so I should avoid tripod headstand. My personal record in crowstand is 1 minute. Is it safe enough to go straight to Step 3 or you can recommend something else as Step 2?
I can't do a handstand for the life of me. But without knowing what a tripod headstand was, I learned to do that on my own! Personally I find doing a tripod headstand from a frog pose a lot easier than a standard headstand.
M. D. no, as long as you are doing the *tripod* headstand with the hands on the floor assisting, you won't put too much strain on your neck. As you practice you'll learn how to balance the load evenly between all 3 points (left arm, right arm and top of head).
I injured my left shoulder last October while walking my dog after a heavy rainfall. I slipped on some web mud and landed right on my left side. Ouch! Since then I can't do the regular Yoga headstand, but with some patience and practice I was able to get back to the Tripod headstand. It is a great pose! I wish I could hold it longer than a minute, but for now I can just hold the pose for about a minute at a time. Some lady at my gym told me a few years ago that the inversion poses are really good for the heart. Are there are any scientific studies to confirm that? What's your opinion of teeter tables and gravity inversion boots? What's your opinion of Yoga?
Navina Anand it takes a lot of practice and is a bit tricky. I would get my head on the floor in front of the wall and keep trying. Knowing the wall is there to catch me was helpful and allowed me to use a little momentum at first. Also, it's important to stack your body optimally. Focus on shifting your hips back so they're stacked directly above the shoulders and head. The more vertically stacked you are, the easier it will be to get up into the full headstand.
When you do a headstand, should you be pushing with your hands constantly to maintain balance or is there a sweet spot where you can maintain balance without much effort? I can stay in the headstand position if I don't move my legs too forward and keep pushing with my hands. Every time I try to move my legs closer to the wall so I don't have to push with my triceps, I lose balance and my feet touch the wall. Is trying to move my feet forward to reach effortless balance a wrong idea or is it just I haven't found the balance point?
Hi James, I am also practicing this, I dont know if we are at the same level or not but here is my experience. I dont need to use much of my hands to push, most of the weight is on the head and I feel very comfortable with it, when I raise my hip and legs up, the weight tends to ship toward the back and I may fall to the wall, I suggest working on the abs and the hollow position to feel the core, then you can control the balance of your body. I hope this will help. Good luck on the practicing.
Yes, the neck will adjust. When you first start practicing and resting your head on the floor, make sure you are supporting more weight with your hands and arms than your head is. As your neck gradually strengthens you can shift more weight to the head to balance out the tripod.
how would you fall forward safely if you aren't using the wall to assist you? I get that i should maybe spread my legs to lessen the momentum and then land with just one foot, but what if my hips went first? i can't stop picturing me breaking my back or something like that
You 100% can’t break your back doing this unless you have very weak bones or are old and decrepit. It is scary and the wind does get knocked out of you, but you can’t break your back. Try to roll by curling your body
A few minutes is a long hold time. Nice job! You may want to work on subtly shifting the load more to the arms/hands. It sounds like you’re doing great, but since you’re doing such long holds you want to make subtle tweaks to share the load more with the rest of the upper body so the neck isn’t taking so much burden.
Also... it might just require more time to let the neck strengthen more. I’m not sure how long you’ve been doing headstands but my neck has definitely strengthened over the years I’ve been doing them.
You should be pressing evenly into the ground with your hands so the tripod is stable. The tripod is made up of your hands and top of head. If you feel a lot of pressure on your shoulders, you may want to regress back to the frogstand and work on building up strength there more. And honestly, as you work on the transition from frog to head stand, if you get your hips high enough for a straight vertical head stand, you shouldn't really feel much pressure on the shoulders at all. The majority of the pressure should be coming straight down the hands and top of head (tripod). It's all about working in front of a wall for support and getting those hips up stacked above your shoulders. Hope that makes sense.
I´m able to hold the frogstand but there is like a "block" in my head so I´m not able to move my back/my ass over my head and I dont know what to do. Do you have any tips?
@@caddr Nah, I did it some days ago, I tried to touch the wall with my back before taking the feet up. It was really just in my head. Now I try to go further away from the wall until I can hold it free
Your probably scared of falling over so make sure you have like pillows or stuff like that so it won’t hurt when you fall and once you fall once you shouldn’t be worried about it as much so should be able to do it
I used to make the stand 20 years ago easily, but now when I'm 37 I decided to skip it in my program. It really hurts my neck, and my Adam's apple stays in pain for 2-3 days after. So I decided to move right to the wall handstand after making a solid crow stand. Always take care of your spine and neck.
This is so much harder than a handstand. First-time I tried to get my knees off my arms I fell over backwards despite the wall in the way and collapsed on my neck. My handstands are progressing quite well without this progression but now I'm determined to learn this too. Any tips for not falling backwards?? Don't want to end up killing myself! Thanks for your great tutorials!!
This is an old video so he probably won't reply. However, I'd practice frog stand more and then also build some hip and lower back strength through L-sit progressions, reverse hyperextensions and hanging leg raises etc. That will allow you to extend the hips quicker and more smoothly, letting you keep balance more easily. However, if you are still only doing this for the first few times the best thing you could do is just practice this until you get it. Strength is a skill and practice makes perfect.
@@99999george Awesome, thanks for the tips. My frog stand is beyond a minute and my l-sits and leg raises are pretty good but I will now incorporate reverse hypers into my programme as this makes perfect sense and is something I have been neglecting! Yesterday I already managed my first time getting my knees off my arms without collapsing, so it's going in the right direction. Thanks for taking the time to reply and for the tips! :-)
Kicking up from that Tripod is not that easy.. what should I do? Which muscle group is lacking? My core is good i Guess i am able to normal handstand for 2-3 sec. But doing it slowly is not possible for me.

How to avoid neck pain while practicing head stand ?
I would guess just use more of your arms and dont rest so much on your head

LostInLeiden i feel if i put my knees slightly down then they will fall down, but if i push up with them then i can easily raise them

How much should I could hold the frogstand before heading next?
Jonatas Ferreira I’m not a pro like the guy in the video but I held the frog stand for 30 seconds before trying the tripod stand
@@AldeezZ thank you
Awesome
Managed my first kinda hold of the tripod today, great video :)
Kicking up from that Tripod is not that easy.. what should I do? Which muscle group is lacking? My core is good i Guess i am able to normal handstand for 2-3 sec. But doing it slowly is not possible for me.
