Great show! I am an Amex and Hawaiian card holder. I just transferred 250k Amex points to Hawaiian for a family trip next year. I’m going to hold fast on any more transfers to see if another bonus comes available. I will however apply for a Hawaiian business cards for my wife and I to maximize our transfer power when the merger is complete. Thanks for the content!
By the way, the best Hawaiian Air redemption is out of Vegas. Tons of price wars to get Hawaiians to the mainland to gamble as it is illegal on the islands. The locals call Vegas the 9th island! The trick is to look 2 months prior to booking. You can redeem 17500 Hawaiian miles one way on a no stop to Honolulu. Aloha!
I don't have the exact plan but I know that I will go to many countries in Asia. I heard Alaska awards aren't that easy to find. Should I transfer my Amex points to Hawaiian now and transfer to Alaska later or should I keep my points to use with Sin Eva Cathay AC etc?
Hey guys. Thanks as always. Maybe I am missing this but it seems that there is a bit more emphasis on getting Hawaiian credit cards at the moment rather than Alaskan cards. Is the at true? If so perhaps because of the ability to pool Hawaii points or is it that you believe the Hawaii cards are more likely to disappear and not return once the merger is fully completed?
@@frequent-miler Gotcha and thank you for the quick reply. Were you able to convert all of your tranferred Hawaiin miles to Alaska or did they stop that as well? As always thank you for and your staff for all of your great resources!
That's not a high priority for us so if anything we'll probably do a combined Alaskan/Hawaiian ressource sometime in the future after they merge programs -Greg
I’m not super deep into the game but with Aeroplan also offering stopovers, and AirFrance offering 50k one ways in biz class to Europe, why is Alaska so exciting?
@greg You can create a PDF of the original SLH properties and then in the same PDF create a header with the full list of new properties. Then, use GPT to upload the PDF and ask to send you a list of only the new properties. Bam! Takes a few seconds.
That's a great idea. Unfortunately, I don't have the original list. All I have/had was a URL from Hilton that lists the properties. Maybe we could use the wayback machine though to do what you suggested? Here's the link: www.hilton.com/en/brands/small-luxury-hotels-slh/participating-hotels/ -Greg
@@frequent-miler , is that even being offered any longer? Maybe that is my confusion. Looks like the public offer is for points. But I sent a referral link to someone and that was for 40k certs that can be topped off. I don't see any 60k cert offerings active. Maybe targeted or incognito needed?
As predicted, merger would be approved and basically proves my theory that the legacy carriers did not want to see JB & spirit merger. Would have been greater for far more consumers than HW+Alaska air.
Ugh now I’m kicking myself for chickening out on the Amex to Hawaiin bonus
Outstanding show! Greg, you are a national treasure.
i look fwd to this show every Friday. thx!
Love the new background
Lining up heads / height would make it mucho better
That was tripping me out too. The background is uniform but I noticed the green screen reflections and light glares.
Thanks! This was our first try at it. We've made some modifications to try to make it even better going forward. -Greg
My 11 year old listens and enjoys the podcast! He likes reciting your segment names his favorite is "what crazy thing did citi do?"
Awesome!

Thanks for the info + video!
Love the show! Huaka'i = hoo-uh-ka-ee meaning voyage
You came to an event in Seattle and I missed it! Hope to see you next time 😢
I'm in Seattle too, and heard nothing of it.
Can you please make a video or short on how to setup/use 5% category on paypal for freedom flex.
Closed my Hawaiian airlines card a couple years back. If I reapplied would I qualify for the sign up bonus?

It's because we think there's a chance that the Hawaiian Airlines cards will go away.

Hi Nick,
I really like your hoodie. Where can I buy one?
Got the personal HA card last week. The business card looks marginal on the current offer.
Yeah unfortunately we didn't realize that the business card offer had fallen to 50K when we recorded this. Hopefully it will go back up soon.
-Greg
@@frequent-miler would you wait then? 6/24 so personal is out. 50k isn't horrible but not as good
@@psgamer388 yes I’d wait

the single background is weird, I like the split screen better. Enjoyed the episode!

You two are in the same virtual FM office!
Do you plan to add Hawaiian Airlines to the FM Airline Resources section?

Which Vancouver?!?! Washington or Canada? I would have expected you 2 of anyone would have specified. Both are about equidistant from Seattle.
Canada
Just moved all my Amex to Hawaii. Better safe than sorry.

Tons of value on domestic AA flights.

@@frequent-miler That did the trick. I'll email you the newly added hotel list. I'm showing 86 since July 2024.
Maybe I am seeing something different. All the stuff I see for the IHG FNC certificates say you can top them off
The 35K ones from the older IHG card can't be topped up.
@@achevres, I thought they were talking about new sign up bonus situations, though. The new ones can be topped off, right?
The 40K certs that come with the new IHG cards can be topped off, but IHG told us that the 60K certs from the welcome bonus can NOT be.

The Hawaiian cards seem very similar to the AA merger with US Air
I applied for HA Barclays card with 70k after one purchase (like AA Aviator Red)
I'll be dammed, I live in Seattle and didn't hear a thing about the pacific meet-up
Is Nick planning on ditching his kids to go on a milage run to Hawaii?
more likely sending the kids 😅
I really wonder how long this will last. Better get while the getting is good, hit those SUBs if you can.
