- An easy way to beat this mission consistently. First, gather all your troops and put them on the hill for a slight range advantage. Wait for the macemen to come out and let your archers shoot them. As they're doing that, high light all your troops and click on the spearmen button. Then, press CTRl and 1. From then on, any time you press 1 you will control all your spearmen. Do macemen on CTRL 2, and ram on CTRL 3. Then rush the gate and use your spearmen and macemen to dig the moat in, and use the ram to beat the gates. Constantly press 1 and 2 to keep your troops on task, and then put them on aggressive stance. Using 1 and 2, kill all the enemies with ease. Thanks to my girlfriend for this tip!
Even though I've played this game for hundreds of hours, and passed every level I'm still learning new things watching this. I've never changed the game speed, or the stance of any soldiers, used the control buttons. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with any of those things. I'm just here to learn different methods and tactics from what I've used. I would really like to learn how to upload videos to youtube!
So, I've had this game since it came out. I was 14 at the time I bought it, and I'm 33 now. I've NEVER made it past this level over the years that I've played this game. Still haven't made it passed yet cause some of my guys were being dumb and just standing around, but I made it further than I ever have before and I know I'm going to finally beat this level lol.

Dude ive been watching all these advanced techniques and tactics but still to no avail, and then with your brute force tactics ive managed the level already on third try lol what a game

the pikemen behind the gate will start to follow u - attack em with archers, crossbows and some macemen, ull need to save the ram at 50%+ health. Now u can put all units inside, but dont use ladders, take ram and destroy second gate. When gate will be at 50% move your troops(except ram) back. w8 when ram's job is done. Put your units in agressive mode, spearmen attack right wall, macemen - left. Laddermen and diggers will be kinda cannon meat, move em in the center of the stronghold.
MY men just die after i get past the second gate
for those who want to beat it on normal: take archers + crossbow men in 1 group and attack front part of the castle from left to right, killin enemy cross and archers on towers. U need to kill all on front wall except 4 cross men on the right tower(simply coz u wount have enough power to do that). Move group carefully, avoid crossbow men from the wall that is behind front entrance. Retreat group. Now take 12-15 spearmens and a ram, remove the moat near the gate and wait till group destroy gate.
It doesn't seem to be working for me i know i got it on easy but it seems i don't have enough soldiers to win.

Funny shit about this, I've beaten everything in this game on very hard now, except this mission. You've got an insanely useless army on that difficulty:
19 Archers
6 Crossbowmen
69 Spearmen
18 Macemen
6 Laddermen
5 Tunnelers
1 Ram, that releases 2 instead of 4 Engineers and 0 Gold anyway
Try to get that fortress. In the past there was an crossbowmen-bug you were able to use, but this possibility is now gone.
My personal best on this difficulty was to clear the whole inner part of fortress (the one with the farms and shit), but the outer part was except some archers still completely there.
aye same here, I only manage this mission on easy -.- they wont make it passed the second wall the enemy has far superior troops especially the crossbow shooters kill off anything in no time -.-
There are ways to beat mission 15 on very hard difficulty.
In the non-HD version you can even do it without losing a single troop (perfect score). In the HD version this is not possible since your archers/crossbowmen wont reach as far, making a perfect score impossible. However it is still possible to beat it.
If you're still intrested in beating mission 15 I'd suggest you search up Lord Balder and his walkthrough on very hard.
enemy archers are shooting my army but my solders fking don't care they are hanging out like there is nothing to care WTF!?!?!?!??!

this is how all of these games do work. you´re supposed to tell them to not get shot xD
So it is also possible on very hard. You have to clear the right site with your crossbowman and then dig near where the rim is very fat. Then you ram the wall and charge.

When spearmen r done with the right wall move em to attack the keep, macemen will kill all archers and crossbowmen on the left side and will join spearmen in the keep attack. Victory.(with 10-15 macemen left, mby some1 else). With 1.2 patch u cannot attack from left side and front side of the castle(archers r shooting ground), that's pretty silly. But u still can destroy almost all shooters on the first front wall with tactic i've described.Your shooters clear the 1st wall and help with pikemen.
I just tested it with the Stronghold HD patch, it works just fine with it as well.
I have 1 tip!Put the engineers out of the ram.The ram can still attack like normal then.And they won't attack your ram.

On very hard I put all of my archers on the hill and clear out the corner tower, and part of the front wall before attacking from the side.

What version are you playing on?
Mission is only winnable on easy. Even then, I scraped through with about 12 guys left, all of them almost dead.
It's possible to win on very hard, I've done it several times, without using any hack however the version that I downloaded from the Firefly website about 7 years ago may have already had a patch on it.

How do you even set the difficulty on easy?
If I remember correctly, you can change the difficulty in the mission briefing before you start each mission.
That could be it. Im gonna check it tomorrow.
This mission is completely impossible on Hard
It's impossible on Normal to Very Hard.
It not, I did it on very hard, you just have to snipe with your crossbowmen and use the miners, laddermen and even ram as cannon fodder

When I do this level on very hard the miners are my most valuable soldiers! They're my way of getting inside the castle!
For a long time I thought the same thing. But it's possible to pass this level on very hard. I did several times. It's kind of hard to do it because of time limit. But it can be done.
