  • Hi there railfans.
Today we have three different railroads. First the TriRail in Miami followed by the METRA in Chicago to finish it of with a quick Airport Express in Hong Kong.
    Lets roll...
Miami Airport Station for the TriRail.
There are 5 TriRail trains in this video and they all look the same at first glance. But...
    There is a difference.
    First train:
Engine #810, a rebuilt EMD F40PHR-3C. Cab Car #520, a Hyundai Rotem. The 1100 passenger car series you can recognize by the straight roof line where the 1000 series are slanted on both ends. The 1100 series is also made by Hyundai Rotem. Note passenger car #1104 in the new TriRail scheme. Still getting used to it.
    Second/Third train:
Kind of the same as the first but all old colors. Have a good look before all the palm trees are gone. Engine, Cab Car and passenger cars are all the same brand/type as train 1.
The train on the elevated rails is the Metrorail. It goes from the Airport to Downtown Miami and from there, via a different line, to Palmetto. These are built by Hitachi Rail Italy and put together in Medley Florida.
    Fourth train:
The difference on this one is the engine. #820 is a Brookville BL36PH There are 12 of them and amazingly all of them are in service. The rest of the train is the same as above.
    Fifth train:
Engine #808 is very similar to #810 and #811 but being built by M-K Morrison-Knudsen.
Cab Car #508 is made by Bombardier and You can recognize this series by the vertical frontal area and the slanted roof line. The passenger cars are the 1000 series with the slanted roof line as well.
Now Chicago. Two trains, both very similar, the difference is the amount of passenger cars.
Both engines are MPI MP36PH-3S's. This is on the Milwaukee District West Line at the Franklin Park Station, to and from Elgin.
It's part of the CPKC Elgin Sub.
    Hong Kong.
This is the Airport Express. The video is not the clearest, it's shot through the windows of a shopping mall in the Mong Kok area. The name says it all, this train connects Hong Kong airport with several areas throughout Hong Kong itself.
This train is built by Adtranz Spain and has a pretty complicated family tree.
If interested in the whole story please check it out on Wikipedia.
That's it for today railfans. Thanks for tuning in and have an awesome rest of your day.
