As a child of divorce whose parents split due to infidelity and both sides of my family should never be put in a room together because there would be a massacre i relate so much to Martha and how done she is with her family all the time.

Mainly because she realised she was torturing herself so did the smart thing. When do the companions ever do the smart thing?
My problem with Martha is that the writers abused the shit out of her. As a character she could have been so interesting but the writers were like "What if we give her very little to go on???"

She's so amazing for so many reasons. I still hate that for how few episodes she's there. Hands down best companion, first her life wasn't an unfulfilled saga where Doctor rescued her, she's doing a job that she liked. Then she fell for him, because well he's hot and intelligent and interesting, and she went through so much for him. Especially the episode when they go back in time, doctor is a human and she's treated like a second class citizen because she's black. All the racial abuse and she also sees doctor falling for someone else, and she takes care of everything. And when everything goes apocalyptic, she saves everyone on her own, as a human, not a superpowered being, just a normal person. And when she realises that their relationship will never be equal, he won't love her the way she does, she leaves. That's so powerful. I love Martha Jones 😘
Yes I agree with you. Leaving the Doctor was probably the hardest thing to do but she was right in doing it. Fans tend to forget her because she didn't leave her entire life behind for the Doctor like Rose.

honestly tish & her brother are the only jones' i liked when we first met them but i can understand martha's mum worrying about her even if she does it in a really annoying way, and she grew more likable by the end of season 4.

Yeah, that’s why Amy and Clara always felt flat to me. They didn’t really have established backstories family wise and even when we did see family or friends, it felt hollow.
Remember when Amy’s parents came back at the end of season 5? So glad we never revisited them 😂

Is because the writers don’t know how to write shows that aren’t made for subpar, mundane daytime soap operas let only great complex yet compelling sci-fi. Not to mention the fact that there art direction, story telling is dry and devoid of any substance to speak of. Along with character development!!!

It's easy to make fun of Martha's family because of all the fighting and silliness’, but at times it feels like it’s forgotten how much they actually suffered at the hands of the Master. They remember everything that happened to them, even though the rest of the world has forgotten, and it was pretty ugly.

Fun fact: the actress who played Tish used to be engaged to Harry Lloyd, who played Jeremy Baines in the "Family of Blood" two parter in this series of Doctor Who. In fact, they'd only just started going out when they filmed this series in 2006/2007. So Jeremy and Martha were sort of brother and sister-in-law in a roundabout way.

Oh Martha... has a terrible family, the Doctor AND the fanbase overlook her for no good reason, the only main RTD companion who never got to have any superpowers, deals with racist time periods during time travel, spends an entire year working hard to save the world unlike the usual companions getting to use as a deus ex machina, misremembered as being whiny, has a perfect face and a REALLY REALLY sexy bum that the camera ignores (unlike Rose whose attractiveness is shown and acknowledged)... talk about under appreciated. She’s the hottest and best companion to me though, Martha forever!
