I want to thank you for sharing with us your carving enthusiasm! I’m 74 and you got me carving again,so much fun. Love your dog.
Awesome as always Doug. Thinking there may be a mushroom based chess set as a Christmas present for a friend who grows medicinal mushroom. You are always an inspiration and looking forward to the painting pointers.
That's a great idea dude💚🇬🇧🌱👍👍👍
I'd like to see this. I was thinking similarly.
What a great surprise! Here I was enjoying your carving instructions for my next project and then you elevate it to an all new level by introducing your dog to us! What a sweetie! Thanks.😊
WOW. Love this 1x1 series. Selfishly, I wish you could post one every single day.
This is why I love your channel doug Your little whittle projects are so much fun to do for my beginner skills thank you!
Wow, doug Billy is getting bigger now . Fantastic little mushrooms 🍄 ❤
Loving this 1 x 1 series; it's kind of therapeutic.
Lovely video Doug, there’s not going to be mushroom on my carvings shelf now. Showed Billy to my wife and she said ahhhhhh- no you can’t have one. She’s a beauty, Billy I mean. Thanks for a great carve. 🇬🇧
Great video Doug. I started serious carving with your earlier mushroom videos. Now you are giving me new ideas for larger projects such as a Gnome village. Thanks buddy stay safe.
I was saying…i miss uncle Doug! Here you are!
Love these little Mushrooms!
Will do it right away❤
So fun! I'm sure I'll have many peaceful afternoons trying different styles of these. I've been thinking about quick whittles for give aways at a local nursing home....perfect! Thanks again, Doug! You're the best!
I can see a cluster of little mushrooms popping up on my workbench over the next few days. What a great practice exercise!
I plan to try to carve these little rascals this week. You're a Hoot and I can get enough of your carvings. Love watching you carve.
Fun fun carve. My grandchildren love painting my carvings they will love these. The owl is a big hit and iv carved small and up to 1 1/2. Thank you!!
Had a blast making this mushroom w/door and painting it. Been whittling for a month and loving every minute of it, thanks to you. After the 'shroom, I took the plunge and carved my first caricature - your hillbilly/gnome. Followed your tutorial (play & pause) using a drop cloth in my living room while I sat in a chair and carved it. It came out great. I'm hooked. Time for me to carve the others. More, more, more.
Great for fairy gardens. Thanks for sharing. Much ❤. ps. Miss your moustache and beard.
Doug. Ty for this vid , it sparked the carving bug in my wife . She’s a great carver , due to health she hasn’t carved in a while . She said this is what I did too get my carving groove back . Soooo thank you so much Mr. Doug 👍😇🇺🇸

Thanks Doug, you made my weekend. Love the fact you showed doors , plain and faces. Bye the bye I’m sitting in my back porch listening to the birds while I watch your video. It is 105 degrees in the Texas shade.
My husband and I love your little carvings, the mushroom people and houses are wonderful, we follow you on the TV but often forget to come to our computer to like the video, My husband carves walking sticks but had lost interest until he started watching you months ago, Doug if possible could you tell us what store we can find the magazine the woodcarvers illustrated, because we have no way to order it online, being seniors we do not trust the sites as not always sure of what we are doing, You are awesome and we really enjoy the content, Thank you for sharing your talent
Thank you Doug. Great video

Another fantastic and entertaining video. I love these simple whittle projects. I like projects that allow me to switch off a bit. Maybe call it Zen Whittling. Keep up the great work.
I was in a book store and picked up a copy of wood carving illustrated and you were in it! Congrats! I will use your promo code and get a subscription. I will tell my wife that can be my birthday present this year 😊

Birds chirping had me lookin around my own house for it....
You're lucky, the apartment where I live doesn't have any chance of it being birds chirping xD
Stunning as always Doug thank you so much for sharing. Your fur baby Billy is a big boy and looks like a bear.

So much fun! Enjoy the way you present these videos! I'm a beginner and your demos are a big help with how to approach with my baby rhino carve I'm working through.
I made one of your mushroom guys but adding the door to make it a house is fun too.
1x1 blocks are phenomenal!
I was just telling someone struggling with carving to try an easy mushroom @ 2 days ago! Nice, simple tutorial! Thanks Doug 🙂

Loved this video, I try to hang on to every cut you made. Should have a 1 by 2 in my hand 0r some scrap and practice each change to expression. Clearly I am a newbee enjoying your calm clear demonstration of these creations.
Thank you I’m just starting and your an amazing teacher.
Latest Doug!! 8/10. Just got my copy of Woodcarving Ill. : Great to see you there, Very good interview. Best of future luck with articles
You are like a Bob Ross of wood carving
I think it would be nice if you took some time during this series and talked about sealers. Your owls looked great natural. You could offer some good advice on the differences between mineral oil, linseed oil, beeswax… ect. I know you do that in your other videos but some of the newer people may have issues finding those videos.
Hi Doug love this mushroom challenge I will try. I have a Question. Could you do a mushroom chest set challenge as my friends on a motorcycle trip laugh at me taking up whittling at 63 and one said can you knock me up a chess set so I want to cheers
Still like watching.
That’s another great carve Doug and probably another addiction for me 😂 Are you sure that’s a dog by the way and not a Wookiee? 🤔 When will it stop growing 🤷♂️
New subscriber! Love the videos. I have binge several over the last few days. I am so intrigued about starting this. I would love to see a video about how you paint them and also how you maintain your carving knives. I know there are various ways of taking care of different blades so I would like to see how you keep these sharp. I'm a noob.
I was carving owls all day and missed this video. Guess I know what I am doing tomorrow morning.
I'm a brand new carver... The face is a little bit beyond me yet but I love the door ones
Ya know - since iv started watching your channel recently- you remind me of Bob Ross - but wood carver 👍🥰🌞🌻
Thank you so much I've followed you and carved my first mushroom 😊 enjoyed it very much not sure what paint to use?
Hey Linker! I just want to say thank you for the amazing work you do here. I prefer power carving; which doesn't hurt my hands as much as whittling, but your methods are easily transferred with a little practice.
Your gnomes, fairy houses, etc are so vibrant and creative I'm wondering where do you find inspiration? I find it here and from other power carvers, like Matt Carves, Jordy Johnson, Just Carve Rob, etc... and am never short on ideas thanks to creators like you!
To your point, we're in the "retirement" age bracket where we find more time for carving due to life events (kids moving out, retirement, etc). I believe we also take more time to "stop & smell the roses" as our focus shifts from achieving to enjoying. As a beginner carver, I'm trying to find price ranges for my work. I tried a couple of sites, but the pricing is all over the place due to producers selling to family members at very high prices (I assume the money just changes hands back & forth). I even found what looks like one of your carvings of a 6" gnome flying a kite for $299! Any tips on realistic pricing? Anyway, keep up the great work and I'll keep watching! Stay blessed.
fun is the name of the game!!!!
Fun 😊
Haha. I have a small ruler obsession as well.
