Holy…..these story videos are just getting more interesting every time (also, Lucas not only having a shadow, but also being alive after Lucas vs Wario was honestly surprising)
Especially after Wario legit made a gravestone for him 💀
Joker does have revival spells, plus a couple hundred revival items, so Lucas' return from death isn't too surprising...
What is surprising is Lucas being found lying by his literal tombstone, above ground, and in strangely good shape after being blown up!
Wario: What? I wasn’t actually going to kill a child! I’m not THAT mean!
Considering Lucas has determination abilities at the very end of the game (i think the player had the option to do something but Lucas ultimately chose what he wanted regardless of the player’s decision)
I was curious about this Persona they gave Lucas, and here's what I found:
Cernunnos, who's name can be roughly translated as "Horned One", is a deity widely worshipped as the "lord of wild things" in Celtic religion. The Gaelic god of nature, plants, animals, and fertility, he is considered one of the most mysterious deities in world mythology and has been described as a "peaceful god of nature and fruitfulness" by some scholars.
The funny thing is that there actually IS a Cernunnos in the Shin Megami Tensei series, which Persona is a spinoff of, though admittedly, the design used in this video seems a lot more interesting to me, especially since this is a pre-evolution Persona.

Pretty cool idea to give Lucas one. One nitpick I have is that there should have been more blue flames.

Technically he could have also gotten a Persona from the P3 method (since dying is pretty traumatic). It would be pretty funny if his Evoker was just a set of toy chattering teeth, since Wario did him in.

Also, _great_ work on this animation! That awakening section looked like it was one of the actual in-game cutscenes for one!!!
That also explains Lucas's outfit in his _last_ appearance for me, lol

As far as raw offensive and defensive stats go, he's untouchable. No other fighter can hold a candle to his ability to actualise and survive quasars, it's on a completely different level from all their calculable feats that I know of!
However, I still think Joker will struggle against the top tier fighters due to his decent speed combined with their myriad instant-win conditions (mainly dimension warping and transmutation) and his limited combat experience (only a year, and he's almost entirely self-taught).
@@finaldusk1821 Oh for sure, characters like Cloud/Sephiroth, Shulk and Pyra/Mythra, and heck maybe even characters like Ness or Hero. If I had to bet on one character to win it all though, it'd absolutely be Joker, I mean he even has insta kill immunity which helps. Being able to summon and take the stats and abilities of many God-like entities is just nuts. I do think Shulk or Hero would put up a really good fight though even if they don't get multiversal level feats applied to them. If I had to make a top 5 it'd be:
1. Joker
2. Shulk
3. Pyra/Mythra
4. Sephiroth or Cloud
5. Hero

In Sonic vs Fox, I was wondering who that person was at the very end scene. It ALMOST sort of looked like Lucas but a bit different. I didn’t recognize him at first, but now it all makes sense!

In his letter to whoever he’s joining, he refers to himself as King Dragmire, which doesn’t make sense because Alex Vs Villager shows us that Isabelle knows him as Ganondorf. In the letter we also see him reference his fight as a no lethal victory. If Isabelle was on the other end of that note, she would certainly already know about said victory

Now this is a great concept, This is what we should of gotten in Smash Ultimate's Adventure Mode, Characters interacting with each other and fighting off enemies Not how whatever world of light did it
This is exactly why Ultimate needs the Subspace treatment. We miss out on unique or clever interactions like this. Especially since DLC was a big thing, they could print out money easily with actual story mode content

Me who never played Persona or Earthbound trying to comprehend this
On the Persona side of the lore, everyone has the potential to awaken to their "Persona", basically a semi-physical and semi-independent manifestation of a person's heart / personality that they can summon while in alternate versions of the real world (long story...)
Arsène for example represents Joker's drive for justice, contempt for evil and authority, his drive to live free, and his flair for theatrics.
Different games have different awakening methods based on their themes; Persona 5's approach is that someone must literally tear off their mask, a choice usually triggered when they commit to standing up against injustice or taking back agency in their life.
Said mask is grafted into their skin, so tearing it free for the first time is really bloody and excruciatingly painful, but leaves the user feeling extremely cathartic with emboldened resolve, with a new snazzy costume showing their interpretation of what a 'rebel' looks like.
Thankfully, they can easily re-summon the Persona later simply by touching their mask, no pain required.
There's a lot more detail and context of course, but this should hopefully suffice as an explanation of what's going on in this video.
As for the Earthbound lore though...er...
I don't know Earthbound so someone else is going to have to explain that side for us!
For Earthbound lore, this mainly factors into the type of persona he summons. As some people have already pointed out, his persona is Cernnunos, a Celtic god of nature. This fits into his story because Lucas is defending the natural world from the onslaught of technology. For example, the villains take normal animals and fuse them with mechanical parts, turning them into monsters. Lucas' family and friends are the one bastion of resistance against the capitalistic exploitation of their world, so he actually fits really well as a member of the Phantom Thieves!
Now that’s pretty cool to watch

Doubtful since Wario is a straight-up villain, and not of the 'sympathetic' or 'misguided' kind either.
If anything, he might end up becoming a Palace Ruler once he's eliminated (assuming said elimination doesn't leave him permanently dead) and become a target for the Phantom Thieves and their newfound ally!

Yeah, kinda took me off guard that Lucas was in surprisingly good shape considering how his fight ended.

This is a really cool idea! Allowing characters to use mechanics from each other's worlds is one of my favorite concepts for crossovers, so I'd love to see more stuff like this in the story mode.
Thst personas voice sounds familiar to me, I might be stretching but they sound like rubliax in season 1-2 and the ova of Wakfu

Does Lucas's persona (in name and design) reference anything in Mother 3? His outfit and sword are obvious, as it's a reference to Claus's Masked Man armor (minus the helmet) when he was under the big bad's control.
I'm not 100% sure, but it might be a reference to the Nature vs Technology aspect of Mother 3. Cernunnos, the name of this Persona, is also the name of the Gaelic god of nature, and one of the big recurring themes in Mother 3 is Nature vs Technology, with Lucas and his friends essentially taking down an army that's causing harm to nature.
Again, not 100% sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the SB team were going for.

Yeah when Lucas was turning into a phantom thieve (I never played persona 5 so correct me if I’m wrong) it felt really disturbing with his cries.

Honestly, this awakening was pretty tame compared to those in Persona 5; normally the user's face is (literally) a bloody mess when the mask comes off, and some of the character's screams were downright harrowing!
Calling it 'extremely painful' would be an understatement, but that makes the catharsis of grasping the power behind the mask that much more gratifying, especially since this usually happens in a moment of crisis for added dramatic effect!

I'm going to be real with you guys, the persona verse is no where near the level of a quasar or whatever you scaled them to in Joker vs Snake. Cosmic flare VAGUELY looks like a quasar, but that's the only similarity they have. They are never stated to be quasars nor are they on the same level as a quasar.

And HOW THE HECK DID LUCAS GAINED A PERSONA⁉️ You can just give a preexist character from another franchise power that doesn't even exist in his/her franchise, that's just violating the lore of multiple franchises.
Lucas is out of the tournament already, so I guess the Smash Bracket team just decided: "Eh, Lucas and the other defeated fighters might as well get up to some fun and cool stuff while they're waiting for the tournament to end!"
Yeah, it breaks a ton of canon rules and whatnot, but it gives fans of those defeated fighters some stuff to look forward to and its just harmless fun at the end of the day (as long as said fighters don't affect the outcome of the ongoing matchups, of course).
@@finaldusk1821 It’s double elimination. Though I doubt they’d use it in a fight. Lucas may not even want their help in a real fight, I don’t know his character that much.
